C10 Chapter 10

“What’s so special about it anyway?” Jade butted in.

“Yeah, I don’t know.” Katherine spoke. “I asked him a couple of times about it, but he freaked out. Well not really freaked out, but he was all mysterious about it, saying it wasn’t any of my business.”

I gulped and looked back on the field, to see that Nate was running across it, apparently he won. They were all sweating when they came towards us. Nate stretched his arm to Katherine, who handed him his shirt. He used it to wipe his face and smirked when his eyes fell on the bottle between my legs.

“We going?” Hannah asked looking at the watch on her phone.

“Yeah.” Katherine said getting up, right when a thunder was heard.

“Shit.” Kaylee looked up at the sky.

“You coming over to mine?” Ricky asked her as he pulled his shirt on.

Jake eyed Kaylee immediately. Kaylee shrugged and nodded, before she turned to me.

“You should come too.”

I looked up at them.

“Nah, I got to go home.”

“She has math homework.” Katherine said and I wanted to slap her. Jade crossed her arms impatiently on her chest.

“So are we going shopping or not? The rain’s going to pour any second now.”

Katherine nodded and asked me to tell grandma that she’ll be home later tonight. I shrugged and watched everyone leave. Sean and Nate still stood a few feet away from me.

Nate came over to me and I wanted to stand up. My arse was numb and it was going to rain anyway.

He crouched down in front of me, before he wrapped his long fin-gers around the bottle and took it away, making sure to brush it a-gainst my crotch. I blushed and stood up, right when the first water drops started falling.

“Let’s go mate.” Sean said, seeming pretty alarmed by the fact that his hair was going to get wet.

“Where you goin’ now?” Nate asked him, not even bothered by the fact that it was going to rain heavily.

I walked next to them, not saying anything, just listening to Sean telling him about a girl that was coming over in a few minutes, to ‘have their way’. Was I the only virgin in this country?

Nate’s tattooed muscles were glistening in the rain. My hair was taped to my forehead when I got to my door. Sean smirked and winked at me for goodbye. Nate just looked at me, fixed his snapback and turned to his house. His shades were hung at the collar of his tank top.

I walked up the steps to my grandma’s porch and opened the door. Or, tried to open it. It wouldn’t budge.

“What?” I asked but then saw the note on the coffee table.

Renee, Katherine, your grandpa and I are out to yet another book club meeting. Katherine, you have your keys and the food is in the fridge. Love, grandma.

I groaned and crumpled the paper, before I turned around looking out on the street that was now flooded by water. I was freezing and wet and I hated the way my clothes clung to my body.

I crossed my arms and found myself running across the street to Nate’s house. I hated myself for what I was about to do.

I pressed my index finger to the doorbell and tried to make my teeth stop from jittering.

The door was opened, and Nate stood there with a Twix bar in hand. He raised his eyebrows before he smirked. He was still dripping wet.

“Can I help you?” he asked, obviously enjoying the fact that he was keeping me outside in the rain.

“My grandparents are gone to their book club meeting…and I’m locked out.”

“And what do I have to do with all this?”

“Can I wait inside for them? It won’t last longer than an hour.”

“Depends.”

“On what?”

“Get on your knees.” he said seriously.

My face fell and I turned red.

“Forget it.” I said and wanted to turn around.

He rolled his eyes and stepped aside:

“God, I was just joking.”

“Ha-ha.” I mumbled and walked inside as he slammed the door shut, locking it.

His house was almost unrecognizable with no red cups everywhere and drunk people dancing. It was clean…normal.

“I’m jumping in the shower quickly…so unless you want to join me, you can wait here.,” he said throwing the Twix wrapper on the coffee table and running up the stairs.

I threw it in the trash in the kitchen and sat down on the couch. I stood up again, because I was going to wet the cushions.

I looked around, staring at pictures of Nate when he was younger. He was so cute and innocent. I couldn’t help but wonder what hap-pened to him. There was a recent picture of him with his mother and someone who appeared to be his stepfather.

I remembered seeing him yesterday in his driveway. “He’s going on a business trip to London.” my grandma said to my grandpa.

Grandpa squinted his eyes and said: “I’m sure.” He was sarcastic. I ignored it.

Another picture was nailed to the wall. It was of Nate’s mom and his stepdad. They were smiling at each other.

“Makes me throw up every time.”

I turned around and saw Nate looking at the picture over my shoulder. He was wearing a grey sweatshirt and matching sweatpants. I noticed that all his piercings were gone now. Even though I’d never say it out loud, he was beautiful. You couldn’t see any of his tattoos now, and without his piercings he looked innocent, normal. His hair was almost brown.

“They look in love.” I mumbled.

“He’s not.” he replied and stepped back.

He still had his tongue piercing.

I shivered.

“Do you want a jumper?” he asked.

I was surprised by his question. “Wh- yeah.”

He turned around and I glanced at the picture once more. He came back with a pair of sweatpants and a greenish knitted jumper.

I took the clothing from him and went in the kitchen where I got changed. To my surprise he didn’t protest or anything.

When I came back out he was on the couch watching some soccer game.

“Just put them on the radiator.” he instructed, pointing towards the radiator.

I did as he suggested and turned around to find that he turned the volume down and was now watching me.

“What?” I asked.

“Let’s play chicken.”

"Don’t be silly, I know that game. I’m not plying it with you."

"Fine. Then you can wait for your grandparents in the rain."

I pouted angrily to show him that I didn’t want to play. I didn’t. No. He knew I was going to lose anyway.

He wriggled his eyebrows and mocked me.

"You’re not scared of how far I’ll go, are you?” he asked daringly.

I looked at him for a second before saying: “Fine. I’ll play.”

"Alright.” he said smirking and licking his bottom lip.

I went to sit down on the floor, but he patted the place next to him on the couch. I stood up unsure and went to him, sitting down as far as I could from him.

I knew this game. Basically two people sat in front of each other, cross-legged, and each one of them had to make a move, until one of them was going to chicken out.

And he knew I was going to chicken out. I knew he would take it far, but at the same time I wondered why he would try something on me? I wasn’t experienced and there was nothing attractive about me.

"Ladies first.” he said smirking.

However, I didn’t budge. I didn’t want him laughing at my innocence or things like that. If there was one thing I hated, it was to be laughed at, made fun of.

"Fine.” he sighed. "I’ll go."

He darted out of his seating position towards me, but I stopped him by placing my palms against his chest and pushing him back.

"Y-you didn’t say start.” I managed to say.

He rolled his eyes and fully turned towards me. He leaned against the armrest and propped a leg up on the couch.

"You say it. Whenever you’re ready."

His eyes caught mine and I gulped. To hell with it, I was tired of him thinking that I was a nun. He had no right to judge me. I wasn’t going to chicken out. Not this time.

I shuffled towards him on the couch and crossed my legs. He laughed, but didn’t say anything about my lack of confidence.

I was surprised when he mirrored my actions instead of doing god knows what. He crossed his legs.

I moved again, but this time our knees were touching. I plaid with the freakishly long sleeves of his green jumper. He took me by surprise when he gripped into my legs and untangled them. He then pulled me towards him -just like he did in the closet the other night- so that I was once again hugging him with my legs.

Our crotches were almost touching and my heart was already in my neck.

It was my turn, and I choose to place my palms on his shoulders.

He was watching me curiously, his dark blue orbs daring. He leaned in, so that his nose was just a few inches from mine. I felt his alcohol breath on my lips and thanked god that I accepted that mint from Kaylee earlier.

He was waiting for me to do a move. I closed the gap between us (I was going to show him that I wasn’t a coward), with the intention of kissing him, but I changed my mind in the last second so my lips landed on his cheek (more like the corner of his mouth).

My lips lingered on his cheek for a few seconds. I waited for him to laugh at my totally virgin move, but his lips came in contact with my cheek.

I closed my eyes when I felt them move down, to my neck. He ran his tongue across the sensitive skin and I bit my lip, squinting my eyes shut.

His aftershave was driving me crazy. His chin rested on my shoulder, and I knew he was waiting for my next move.

My hands fell down from his shoulders to his skinny waist.

I almost squeaked when I felt him cup my bum and suddenly leaning down. He was now fully on his back, and I slipped on the base of his stomach. He didn’t seem to be bothered by my weight.

My hands slipped under his shirt against my will.

His left hand moved from my back to my front and his fingers lightly touched my crotch. I was slowly starting to crack. It was too much for me. I was scared.

I moved back which caused him to moan a low ‘fuck’. His whole palm cupped me between my legs and I shot up instantly, almost trip-ping over my own feet.

"You pig!” I yelled, totally infuriated.

When I saw that his expression changed to a dark one, I turned around and made a run towards the door.

I almost yelled when I saw it was locked. I heard his footsteps co-ming towards me so I immediately ran towards the door that led to the kitchen.

A dark laugh was heard behind me and I turned around to see him in the doorframe. Amazing. The only escape I had was through the backdoor, but that was probably locked too.

He came towards me and I circled the island counter. I tried the backdoor but it was locked-shocker.

I watched him, on the other side of the counter. He found it very amusing, judging by the smirk on his face. I wanted to slap it right off his face.

He took a sudden step to his right, which made me jump and step to the right. He laughed again and I turned red because of anger.

He leaned his elbows on the counter and batted his eyelashes, ob-viously enjoying my desperate state. I eyed his keys on the hanger by the door, and immediately knew what I had to do.

I pretended to walk to my left and he stood up straight, coming towards me. I quickly changed my direction and ran to the door, rip-ped the keys off the hanger and continued my way to the front door.

I fumbled with the keys and almost screamed of joy when the first key I tried fit into the lock. I twisted my wrist and unlocked the door. I swung it open and didn’t give a fuck that it was raining and still no one was home.

I didn’t even get to take a step, because I was yanked back by my shirt and pulled into the house.

The door was slammed shut and I was pinned against it, my cheek freezing against the cold wood.

I felt his breath on the back of my head. His lips were now taped to my ear and opened:

"Chicken.” he chuckled and I wiggled away from him. He didn’t react in any way, letting me get away from him. I tucked my hair behind my ear and huffed, crossing my arms over my chest. My heart was still beating fast, but somehow I wasn’t scared of him anymore.

"Why are you so scared?” he asked smirking, coming towards me.

I took a step back.

"I’m not scared of you, god.” I said. Now I was scared. But what could he do to me?

"You sure? You’re shaking."

"S’from the cold.” I mumbled and took yet another step back.

"What did you think I was going to do to you?” he asked.

"Don’t want to give you any ideas…” I whispered under my breath.

"What was that?” he asked but the door opening and Mrs. Harris stepping into the house interrupted us. She said something about the heavy rain to herself, before her eyes landed on us.

She wasn’t that surprised to see me, probably because Nate always had girls over.

"Oh, Renee! Hi!"

"Hello Mrs. Harris."

Nate scratched his head, not even greeting his mom. How rude of him. Her eyes drifted to my clothing, and I realized how it must’ve looked, me wearing his clothes and all.

"Uh…I had no key and my grandparents were gone…so…I came here.” I said stepping towards her and away from Nate.

"Oh, that’s okay dear."

"Are they home now?"

"Yes darling."

"Thank you."

"I thought you threw away the shirt I knitted you.” Mrs. Harris said, now looking at Nate.

He shrugged. “Whatever. Did you buy some food? I hope you’re not cooking. Are you?”

God, he was such a douchebag to his mother, I was sorry for her. Her eyes saddened and she nodded.

"I’ll order pizza then. You can stay if you want."

Her last sentence was directed towards me but I shook my head.

"Oh no, thank you, but I don’t want my grandma worrying."

"Sure honey."

She smiled, then went into the kitchen. I walked to the door and Nate opened it for me. I stepped outside but then turned around, ma-king him stop in the mid-action of closing the door.

"Should I wash these?” I asked and pulled at the end of the sweatshirt.

He shrugged. “Keep it. I was going to throw it out anyway.”

"You should be more kind to your mother."

"Yeah yeah whatever."

Then he closed the door right in my face.

How nice.

It wasn’t until I got home that I noticed that I forgot my clothes at Nate’s, but I was going to get them the next day.

***

The next day didn’t come, because I found myself two days later, up in my bedroom, on Tumblr. I hadn’t seen Nate since that day.

It was past 8pm, and I knew Katherine had plans with Jade, be-cause she invited me out too, to go with them at god knows which club. Honestly, no thank you.

"RENEEEEE!” my grandma’s voice was heard from downstairs.

"WHAAAT?” I yelled.

"COME DOWN FOR CHRIST’S SAKE I’M NOT YELLING TO HEAR THE SOUD OF YOUR NAME!"

I rolled my eyes and snapped my laptop shut.

"What?” I asked from the top of the stairs.

"I have a grocery list for you."

"But it’s late grandma.” I said.

"Don’t make me call your mother."

"UGH, fine."

I changed into jeans and walked down, to see my grandma watching the lottery. Of course.

"I also left some money for the bus."

I rolled my eyes and grabbed the list before exiting the house. The air was cold and I knew it was going to rain again.

I walked to the bus station and looked at the timetable, then at the clock. This was ridiculous.

"Fuck!” I yelled when I saw that I just missed the bus. I had to wait another 30 minutes. Amazing.

"That’s a lovely vocabulary."

I turned around and saw Nate coming towards me, a cigarette between his fingers. His piercings were back.

"Go away Nate."

"And I was just thinking of driving you to the grocery shop.” he pouted and dropped the cigarette to the ground, before stepping on it.

"How do you know I’m going grocery shopping?"

"What else would you do in the town center?"

I rolled my eyes.

"So? Do you want a ride there?"

I shrugged. “Sure. Wait, you’re not going to use the motorcycle, are you?”

"God no, do you want me to get her wet?"

"Her?” I snickered.

"Shut up. I’m taking the car. Can you wait here?"

I shrugged and sat down on the bench.

Two minutes later I was climbing in the passenger seat, wondering why he offered to give me a ride.

"Why are you giving me a ride?” I asked as I put my seatbelt on.

"Because you’ll have to return the favor."

"I can’t drive."

"But you can give me a ride."

"Wha-oh. God, you’re such a pig. But seriously, why?"

He shrugged. “Got bored.”

I focused on the road in front of us, and before I knew it, he was parking the car.

"I’ll wait outside, gonna smoke.” he said pulling out his cigarettes and lighter.

"Okay."

I entered the shop.

I was done with the shopping thirty minutes later, and it started to rain. I exited the shop and looked to my right, expecting to see him leaning against the wall like I left him, but he wasn’t there.

Great.

The street was deserted and his car wasn’t across the street in the parking lot.

I knew he’d to something like this. I knew it. God, I wasn’t going to talk to him again. Ever.

"Fuck you.” I muttered and went to hide under the roof in the bus station. The bus was coming in twenty minutes. I could wait that long.

After a few minutes I was cold, so I stood up and pulled my hood over my head. I moved around in the cold rain, to get warmer.

I screamed when someone touched my arm. My heart started bea-ting faster and I was ready to pass out when I heard a dark laugh.

I turned around and was met by a smirking Nate, with the hood over his disheveled hair.

"Where the fuck have you been? I was freezing!"

He laughed. “I was just playin’ with ya.”

"Well it’s not funny.” I mumbled.

"Let’s go before we get really wet.” he said and pointed towards a street where his car was probably parked. We walked in silence towards the car and I almost dropped the milk.

"God.” Nate groaned halfway to the car and snatched the groceries from my hands.

"Thanks?” I said and shook my hands.

I watched him as he loaded his trunk and slammed it shut. Then he pulled another cigarette out and took a few steps towards the house nearby, shielding himself from the rain.

I didn’t comment and I couldn’t because he offered me a ride (even though he almost left me). He was a weird person.

"Want one?"

"What? Oh, no."

"C’mon. Just one. You’ll like it.” he said holding the pack out for me to take.

"Exactly."

He pushed himself off the wall and came onto me, trapping me against it.

"One.” he said.

"Drop it Nate."

"Open your mouth.” he then said, letting out a smoke.

I licked my lips and softly parted my lips. I knew what was about to come, but I was surprised by how easily I obeyed him. He leaned in after he took a drag and his lips brushed mine as he let out the smoke. I took it in before letting it out.

"Mmm good girl.” he said and suddenly dipped his head down and attached his lips to mine. I was taken aback but I continued the kiss, placing my hands on his waist.

He threw his cigarette away and placed that hand on the wall beside my head, and the other one on my hip. His tongue piercing was once again amazing, and his tongue tasted like cigarette. I would’ve minded, but right now I liked the way he tasted and smelled.

He tilted his head and pushed me further into the wall whilst his tongue rubbed against mine.

He pulled away all too quickly, before licking his lip and smirking.

"Let’s go back."

I shrugged, and deep down I knew I was a bit hurt by the fact that for him it didn’t mean anything. I didn’t really mind, but I would’ve loved if I could kiss him every time I wanted and felt like it.

God, the smoke had gone to my brain.

I thanked him for giving me a ride, and walked back to my house, cursing at the rain. My grandma yelled at me for being late, but I ignored her and went upstairs, where I took a shower.

I dropped the towel on the floor once I was in my room, before I changed into my pajamas and got into bed. I kept replying the kiss in my head, until my phone vibrated on the bedside table. I answered it, not checking the caller, because it was probably my mother.

"Yeah?” I asked.

There was heavy breathing on the other end, before the voice spoke:

"You should close your curtains babe."
