C5 Chapter 5

My heart was beating faster than usual as I scanned my surroundings. There was a bar next to a small terrace that was full of drinks and red cups.

There were lounge chairs all over the place, most of them occupied by either clothing or couples that were practically having sex.

The music came from the terrace that was also filled with people, more precisely people between the ages of 16 to 20.

I felt out of place because I seemed to be too young. I looked around and spotted Nate leaning against the bar as he talked to a girl, waiting for his drink. He had a flirty smile plying on his lips, and she kept rocking back and forth on her hells. His eyes kept falling from her lips to her chest.

I made my way over there, because I wanted to get this whole ordeal over with. I just wanted my skateboard back.

His eyes lifted up from her cleavage and made eye contact with me, before he shamelessly checked me out.

"Hi.” I said and Nate lifted his chin, raising his eyebrows.

The girl looked at me annoyed and strolled away.

"Great. Thank you for the cockblock.” he muttered.

"Where’s my skateboard?"

He grinned, sticking his hands in his front pockets.

"I don’t have it."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I don’t have it."

"You said you’d give it to me.” I whined and he rolled his eyes.

"It’s in my trunk."

"Can you give it to me please?"

"If you take the keys."

"Where are they?"

"In my boxers."

"You’re joking right?"

He shook his head, but he was smiling. I rolled my eyes.

"Find me in half an hour and we’ll talk babe."

He called me babe. Somehow I felt special-but he probably called all girls babe, just like Sean did.

He walked away with a red cup in his hand. I stood there, stupidly looking after him, as he got lost in the crowd.

I decided to sit down on a lounge chair and pull my phone out to play Temple Run.

Time passed, and an hour later, I stood up and went to look for Nate. He was nowhere to be seen, just like the rest of his friends.

My eyes drifted to the water, and I saw some silhouettes in the water, yelling and laughing. I immediately spotted Nate; his tattoos weren’t hard to locate.

He made eye contact with me and smirked, before he whispered something in Katherine’s ear. She made eye contact with me and nodded, before turning around.

Nate walked towards me and came out of the water, droplets dripping down from his hair.

He smirked at me and walked by, towards the parking lot. I followed him, and I couldn’t help but stare at his tattooed back.

I followed him to his car and he opened the trunk, taking out my skateboard.

"How do you plan on getting home?"

"I don’t know…I’ll find a way."

"Okay."

He really didn’t care. I took the skateboard out of his hand and let it drop at my feet.

Another question popped into my head.

"What’s the Wi-Fi password?"

He closed the trunk and smirked.

"I actually wondered when you’d ask me."

"Well?"

"I’ll tell you…"

I smiled.

"IF."

Of course there was an if.

"If you’ll kiss me."

"What?"

He laughed and I rolled my eyes.

"I’m joking, gosh. I’ll tell you the password if you’ll prove me that you smoke. Because I don’t believe you."

My eyes widened but I recovered quickly.

"Oh…okay."

He seemed surprised but opened his trunk again and got out a lighter and a pack of cigarettes.

He fished one out and lighted it, before taking a smoke and letting it out. He handed me the cigarette and I looked at it.

He laughed as he watched me, waiting for my next move. I took it to my lips, the fact that Nate touched it with his lips intriguing me.

I inhaled and kept the smoke inside me, before I coughed it out. He laughed, throwing his head back.

My cheeks were red and I felt humiliated.

"You have never smoked before, have you?"

I shook my head. He took the cigarette back and took another drag, letting it out. I was surprised and tried to pull away, but he kept me still.

"Open your mouth."

I parted my lips slightly and he took another drag, before leaning down, his lips a few millimeters from mine.

My heart was beating fast as I made eye contact with his blue orbs. He opened his lips and let the smoke between mine. It felt good.

He let go of my face and took a step back, without saying anything. He slammed the trunk shut and ruffled his hair, before walking past me, but not without pinching my nipple.

I turned around and watched him disappear, before walking around his car and looking around for an exit.

I saw a red headed girl struggle with something in her purse, before dropping it and cursing. She had tears in her eyes as she dropped to her stomach to look for it under her car.

"Do you need help?"

She looked up at me and I smiled. She stood up with her car keys in hand.

"Uh…not really but thanks."

"Are you okay?"

She shook her head. “Long story.”

I shrugged. “I got time.”

She eyed me before she smiled.

"Do you need a ride?"

"Depends where you’re going."

She told me the address and I nodded, letting her know that we lived on the same street. Her eyes lighted up and I got in the car.

She spent the whole time in the car telling me her story: she told me that she was called Kaylee Hicks and that she was crying because of a guy (she didn’t give a name) that kept kissing and hooking up with her, making her feel special, but then he pretended that he didn’t know her in front of his friends.

Her best friend was a guy named Ricky- the blonde guy that was in the car when we drove to the beach.

I was about to get out of the car, but then I remembered that I was supposed to be at Jade’s sleepover.

"Shit.” I cursed, my hand unmoved from the door handle.

"What?"

"I was supposed to cover up for my cousin…our grandma thinks we’re at Jade’s house."

"Jade Starr?"

I nodded and her face expression changed to hurt, before she quickly masked it.

"Uh…you can come to my place if you want to.” she said.

"Really?"

She nodded and drove down the street, before stopping four houses away. She pointed to a house across from her as she unlocked the door:

"That’s Ricky’s house and the one to its left is Jake’s house. I mean Jade’s.” she stuttered and entered the house.

It was pitch black so she turned on a light and explained to me that her parents were working a night shift at a police station.

I got comfortable in a pair of PJ’s she gave me, and it was quite odd how we soon became friends.

"Can you tell me something about each kid that lives on this street? I mean…I’m just curious."

She nodded. “Who do you want to know about?”

"Well there was this girl…a blonde one with blue eyes?"

"That’s Hannah Faye.” she said and gave me a bowl of popcorn as we sat down on her double bed. "She’s one of the neighborhood’s slags. Together with Jade and your cousin."

I laughed.

"What about Sean Black?"

"He’s the typical bad boy. Smokes, does drugs…there’s not much to say about him, I’m not that close to him."

"And the brothers?"

"Uh…Jade is okay I guess but she has a lot of boyfriends and Jake’s a fucking prick."

I somehow got the feeling that Jake was the guy that made her cry, but I didn’t say anything about it.

"And Nate?"

"He’s the worst."

"I heard he’s changed."

"Totally. Two years ago, before his father left them, he was cute and nice, but then he changed. He’s arrogant and thinks he’s better than everyone else. He has too much pride and thinks he’s a panty dropper with his piercings and tattoos."

I gulped, thinking about his chest that was littered with tattoos. The way he told me to open my mouth and then blew the smoke…

"So that’s why you shouldn’t get involved with him. He’s trouble."

I nodded, not paying attention to a single word she said. Thinking about Nate brought a new memory to my mind: He didn’t tell me the Wi-Fi password!

He was such a cheater…

We fell asleep gossiping about hot celebrity guys and eating popcorn.

I ran a hand through my hair as I exited Kaylee’s house. She waved at me and I waved back, before hopping on my skateboard and skateboarding down the street towards my house.

It was still dark, it was 6am; Kaylee was going out for a run and I wasn’t that tired to be honest.

I stopped in my tracks when I saw Jade and Katherine coming out of Nate’s house, behind them a very hungover Hannah. All three of them had, as many would call it, sex hair, and they were rubbing their temples, with one hand, holding their shoes in the other.

Nate stood in the doorway, leaning against the doorframe, his arms crossed over his tattooed chest. He watched the girls walking towards Jade’s house and they didn’t even notice me.

I watched them as they stumbled in Jade’s house, giggling and saying something among the lines of: “foursome” and “amazing cock”. I almost threw up.

I was about to walk to my house and sneak in -grandma only woke up around nine, so she wouldn’t even hear me-, when I heard someone calling my name.

I knew the voice, yet I still turned around. Nate looked at me and his eyes fell on my legs. I remembered that I was still in shorts and a pretty see-through shirt.

He waved me over but I didn’t budge. Then I remembered that I needed the Wi-Fi password.

I cursed mentally as I took the skateboard under my arm and walked over. He pushed himself off the doorway and disappeared inside.

My eyebrows furrowed as I came to a halt.

He appeared in the doorframe again, smirking and inviting me in.

"If you dare babe.” he said and I couldn’t help but think how hot his morning voice was.

I gulped and stepped over his doorstep. His hands were crossed on his chest as looked at me.

"I knew you’d come for the password."

"Can you tell me it?"

"On one condition."

"What?” I groaned.

"You’ll come to every party your cousin invites you to."

"And how will you know that I will, after you give me the password?"

"I can change it anytime babe."

I nodded. “Okay, so what is it?”

He came over to me, and towered over me as he leaned down, to whisper in my ear:

"Masturbating."

I turned red and swatted his arm, taking a step back.

"You serious?” I asked in disbelief.

He nodded, taking his lip ring between his teeth. I turned around and muttered a thank you, before I exited the house, leaving him like that, feeling his stare all over my back.

Two hours later, I was in my bedroom, scrolling through my dashboard when I received a text.

It was from Nate.

My heart sped up.

Nate: c babe? that pic of u gets me excited every time ;)

I dropped my phone, turning red because he’d attached a picture of himself in just his tenting boxers.

Rey: stop it Nate

Nate: Oh babe dis is jst the begining ;)

I bit my lip.

If I only knew…
