C1 Flash Marriage

"Jane, this is my bank card. The password is 131224. You can buy whatever you want," Edwin had said to Jane before leaving for the morning.

It had been a few hours since then, and Jane still held the bank card tightly in her hand, his words echoing in her mind.

In truth, Jane knew very little about her new husband.

Apart from his name, Edwin Carter, she knew nothing about him, not even the number of family members he had.

It took a great deal of courage for Jane to marry a man she had only met twice.

Ten days ago, with the help of her best friend Laura, Jane had gone on a blind date and met Edwin.

She had not had high expectations, given her situation of being framed three years ago.

But she arrived fifteen minutes early on the day of their blind date, hoping to leave a good impression on him.

Jane knew that she could not have an advantage in her own condition, so she tried to perform better in other things. If she could find a good man, she would marry him to put her parents at ease.

During the blind date, Edwin arrived neither early nor late.

He was dressed in a formal suit and leather shoes, which made Jane feel that he valued the blind date very much.

He greeted her politely. His way of greeting was no surprise.

"Hello, Miss Ronan. I am Edwin Carter."

Then they engaged in a simple and ordinary conversation. After the meal, they politely exchanged phone numbers and parted ways.

Jane had been on many blind dates before, so she did not take this one seriously.

However, to her surprise, Edwin called her two days later to invite her to a restaurant for dinner.

"Miss Ronan, are you free tonight?"

During the meal, Jane spoke very little and seemed reserved, planning to leave early.

However, Edwin surprised her by saying that he wanted to marry her and obtain a marriage certificate.

"Miss Ronan, I'm free next Wednesday. We can get the marriage certificate that day."

"Get what?" Jane was shocked by Edwin's words.

"The marriage certificate." His tone was serious, and he did not seem to be joking at all.

Jane couldn't quite believe what she was hearing. She squeezed her thigh hard to make sure she wasn't dreaming. Then she looked at the man in front of her.

He had a pair of thick sword-like eyebrows, bright eyes, and a face that was as handsome as a movie star. He was the kind of person who could be found in tens of thousands of people with a single glance.

But she was hesitant. She still believed that marriage was not a game and that love was necessary for a happy marriage.

"But this is our second time meeting after all. Don't you think it's too fast?" Jane voiced her thoughts. Yes, she wanted to have her own family, but she did not expect it to be so hasty.

"It is true." Edwin kept calm as he continued, "After we first met, I went back and thought about it for two days. Miss Ronan gave me a good first impression. I personally think that our personalities are very similar, so I wanna give it a try. "

Jane frowned slightly. "In my opinion, marriage is not a game. If our marriage is not happy, do you want it?"

Before she could finish, Edwin interrupted her. "Miss Ronan, we are both adults. Naturally, we don't expect love that doesn't exist. We both know what we want."

Then his deep, attractive voice came back to her. "I thought Miss Ronan would agree with me."

Jane did not answer and stared at Edwin's face.

This man was calm and composed. He seemed to be a good marriage partner.

But could she put the rest of her life in the hands of this man she had only met twice?

Could she do that?

Seeing her hesitation, Edwin said, "Maybe I was in a little rush and not considering your feelings. Miss Ronan can go back and think about it. I'll wait for your call."

After returning home that night, Jane had been thinking about this all night.

She admitted that she shared the same view as Edwin. Like, there was no such thing as love.

After being deeply hurt, she no longer believed that there was such a thing as love in her life.

The next morning, Jane called Edwin and agreed to his "proposal".

That morning, Jane took all the documents needed and went to the marriage registration office with Edwin.

When she and Edwin walked out of the marriage registration office with the certificate, she had an indescribable feeling.

It was said that marriage was an incredibly important thing, but now it seemed to be so simple. From now on, it carved an exclusive mark in her life that belonged to Edwin.

Yesterday was the day Jane moved into Edwin's house to live with him.

Last night, Edwin was acting as a gentleman and left her alone in the master bedroom while he slept in the other bedroom.

Now, with Edwin's bank card in her possession, Jane pondered what their future held. She still had reservations, but she couldn't deny the attraction she felt for Edwin.

She hoped that their personalities truly were similar enough to make their marriage work and made a commitment to get to know Edwin and his family better.

But since she did not know him well, how could he trust her with his assets?

"Jane, the reporters from all the major media are waiting inside. The board of directors and the new CEO are about to arrive. Why are you daydreaming at a time like this?"

The harsh voice of Fanny Ward, the Public Relations Manager, interrupted Jane's thoughts. She quickly snapped out of it and replied, "Manager Ward, I apologize. I'll be more attentive."

Fanny Ward glared at Jane and spoke sternly, "Jane, even though you're from the business department, your manager sent you here to assist our PR team. You need to pick up the pace and not slow us down."

Jane pursed her lips and nodded, "Manager Ward, I got distracted just now. It won't happen again."

Fanny Ward looked at Jane before turning her attention to a few staff members in charge of receiving guests. "Everyone, stay alert. We need to execute today's press conference flawlessly. There can't be any mistakes." Fanny's gaze swept across each staff member under her, emphasizing the importance of the task at hand.

Jane felt the pressure mounting as the new CEO's arrival drew closer. She knew that the success of the press conference would be crucial to the company's image and reputation. She took a deep breath, focused her thoughts, and prepared to do her best to assist the PR team.
