C3 The Daily Life of Marriage

When Jane returned to the office, she overheard her colleagues in the same department discussing the new president.

They all seemed to be familiar with him.

Briana Rodriguez noticed Jane's presence and exclaimed, "Jane, you're so lucky to work with the CEO right away!"

Jane responded with a weak smile, "It's all work. It doesn't matter who I work with. If you think it's good to work for the CEO, you can ask the manager to be included next time."

Briana quickly denied, "Although our new CEO is hot and charming, his eyes and aura are not something we small employees dare to approach."

Then the operations manager, Olive Lee, walked in and ordered everyone to get back to work since the new CEO was coming for an inspection.

Upon hearing this news, Jane felt a lump in her throat.

She was still not ready to face her new husband, Edwin, who was the new CEO.

The other colleagues resumed working, but Jane was still in a daze.

Olive noticed her and asked if she had anything to say.

Jane shook her head and quietly clenched her fists, returning to her seat to check the client's information on her computer.

Shortly after, the elevator beeped and Edwin appeared in front of Jane again, accompanied by a group of people.

However, he only greeted the staff and listened to Olive's brief report before leading the group away.

As soon as Edwin left, the business department erupted into chatter once again.

Even Olive, who was usually composed, couldn't resist joining in on the gossip.

Everyone was discussing whether this CEO, who was unreasonably handsome, was single or married.

Jane listened to their chatter silently, wondering if she would be targeted by this group of women if they found out that her name was on the spouse column of the CEO's marriage certificate.

Her nerves were on edge throughout the day.

After all her colleagues left, Jane packed up and left the office, uncertain about how to face Edwin that night.

As she left the company, Jane instinctively turned right and arrived at Entrance B of the subway station Tech Zone.

After walking for a while, she remembered that she was living with her new husband.

Edwin's house was located near the Tech Zone, only three bus stops away or a half-hour walk.

Jane checked her watch. It was only a little after five o'clock, and she still hadn't figured out how to face Edwin. She decided to walk home and think things over.

When she arrived at the apartment building, Jane decided to buy some vegetables and meat from the supermarket next door. Regardless of the situation, filling her stomach was the most important thing.

She didn't know what food Edwin liked, so she pulled out her phone to ask him, but then hesitated, worried that it would be inconvenient for him to answer. She put her phone back in her pocket, picked out some ingredients, and carried them home.

As Jane approached the elevator, she caught sight of a figure that was both familiar and unfamiliar.

Edwin stood facing the elevator, his figure perfectly proportioned and almost like a beautiful scenery from afar.

Jane couldn't understand why such an outstanding man, who was also the CEO of a big company, would come for a blind date and even decide to marry her on their first date, despite her being just an ordinary person.

"You're back," Jane greeted Edwin in the most ordinary way possible.

"Yes," Edwin turned around to look at her, his expression remaining indifferent.

Jane smiled back at him and stood beside him.

As Jane stood beside him, she couldn't help but notice something different about him today, although she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

Upon closer inspection, she saw that he was wearing glasses with a golden frame, which made him look steadier and more restrained.

Jane sighed inwardly, knowing that Edwin wasn't one to talk much.

If she wanted to get closer to him, she didn't know how to initiate it.

Furthermore, now that she knew about his shocking identity, she was even more unsure of how to approach him.

Suddenly, Edwin reached out a hand to take her bag from her.

Jane instinctively stepped back, but Edwin wasn't angry.

He simply said, "Leave the things to me," and casually took the bag from her.

Jane felt embarrassed for overthinking things. She watched as Edwin effortlessly carried the heavy bag, feeling a warm feeling in her heart.

Despite not knowing if there was love between them or not, Jane remained optimistic. As long as they both worked hard in their marriage, they would be able to live a good life together.

As they entered the elevator, neither of them spoke. The same silence continued when they got home, with Edwin admitting that he didn't know how to cook.

"Leave the cooking to me." Jane put her bag away, took off her coat, and put on her apron.

"Thank you," Edwin said lightly.

"You're too polite," Jane replied with a forced smile, feeling a little awkward.

Despite being husband and wife, their interactions felt distant and awkward, as if they were strangers.

Jane believed that as a wife, it was natural for her to cook for her husband. However, his attitude towards her increased the distance between them, making their marriage feel strange.

Jane didn't dwell on it too much and went into the kitchen to prepare dinner.

She washed the rice, vegetables, and started cutting them. Suddenly, she noticed a tall figure standing at the kitchen door. It was Edwin.

"If you need any help, just let me know," he said calmly.

Jane replied that she would be done soon and asked him to wait a little longer. She checked the time and realized it was already 7:30 in the evening.

Edwin might be starving.

She made a mental note to come home early from work the next day so that she could cook dinner for him as soon as possible.

No matter what Edwin's identity was, she had chosen this marriage and was determined to work hard to make it a good life together.
