C5 A Considerate New Husband

Edwin and Jane gazed at each other, feeling embarrassed by their inability to find a topic to chat about.

"Why don't you go and do something then? I have some work to attend to," Jane suggested, usually cheerful but feeling uneasy around Edwin for some reason.

"Sure," Edwin nodded and got up to head to the study room.

Jane caught a glimpse of him before he left and then went to her room to prepare for tomorrow's work.

After working for two hours, Jane turned off her phone and rubbed the space between her eyebrows.

She stood up and left her room, bumping into Edwin as he came out of the bathroom.

He wore a white robe, his short black hair dripping with water, and his expression cold.

"It's late. You should wash up and go to sleep," he said in an indifferent tone, not bothering to look at her before he went to his room.

Jane was unsure of what to do, wondering whether Edwin intended to sleep with her tonight.

But she could not accept him in her heart.

Thinking of this, Jane felt her heart beat faster and struggling to breathe.

She went to the bathroom for half an hour before returning to her room, relieved to find Edwin gone.

But before she could relax, he walked in with faintly smell of tobacco.

She guessed he had been outside smoking, but he was considerate enough not to do it where she could see him.

"Go to sleep," Edwin ordered, climbing into bed and lying on the right side, leaving the left side for Jane.

"Uh, alright," Jane stuttered, her palms sweating.

She climbed into bed from the other side and lay down on Edwin's left, feeling surrounded by his masculine aura.

"Good night!" She quickly closed her eyes, hoping that she could fall asleep in the shortest time possible.

Though there was a distance between them, Jane's thoughts ran wild, keeping her from falling asleep.

She tried to calm herself down by taking deep breaths, but her heart was still racing. She wondered if Edwin could hear it. She felt like a fool for being so nervous around him.

She worried that Edwin might do something to her while she slept.

Upon further consideration, it occurred to Jane that even if Edwin did want to do something to her, it would be perfectly normal given they were already married.

However, the thought made her body tense up, almost to a stiff state.

Sensing her anxiety, Edwin reached out and rubbed her head, saying, "Jane, relax. even though we are legally married, I will never force you to do anything you don't want to do."

Though his voice was as sexy and pleasant as ever, Jane felt he was laughing and her ears turned red.

How could be a man so sensitive?

With Edwin's assurance, Jane's nerves slowly relaxed and she fell asleep.

When she woke up, it was already bright. She checked her phone and found she had overslept. She could not help but whisper, "Gosh!"

From Monday to Friday, at seven o'clock in the morning, her alarm clock would definitely ring on time. Did the alarm go on strike today, or did she sleep too soundly and not hear it?

"Morning," Edwin's deep and sexy voice sounded in the room. "I saw that it was still early, so I turned off your alarm and let you sleep a little longer."

Only when hearing Edwin's voice, Jane realized that Edwin was in the room.

He was already fully dressed and casually reading the newspaper. He seemed to have been waiting for her.

Jane jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom.

"Breakfast is ready. I'll be waiting for you." Edwin's deep voice came from behind her, and Jane didn't know how to react.

He looked at Jane who was a little lost. His thin, sexy lips curled up slightly, and there was a hint of a smile in his cold eyes.

Was Jane really the shrewish girl who scolded him for three hours three years ago when she was drunk and vomited on his body?

...

Jane emerged from the bathroom dressed in a white blouse and a short black skirt that outlined the perfect curves of her body.

She had already changed into her work clothes.

Edwin's pupils contracted slightly at the sight of her. He secretly looked away and sat down quietly to eat breakfast.

As a result, Edwin's first order on being the CEO of Innovative Technology was to issue an order for all female employees in their company to wear more appropriate work clothes, changing their short skirts into suit pants.

Looking at the exquisite and delicious breakfast on the table, Jane smiled and asked, "Did you make all these?"

Last night, he told her that he did not know how to cook. How could he make all of these?

He handed her milk and said, "The nanny sent them from home."

Edwin was a germaphobe and had a picky palate. He rarely dined out, so his nanny, who was responsible for his daily life, always prepared his meals in advance.

"It looks delicious." Jane sat down and picked up her chopsticks. After taking a bite, she exclaimed, "It's really tasty!"

The dessert melted in her mouth, and the aroma lingered on her tongue. It was more delicious than she had imagined.

"Yes," Edwin hummed a syllable but remained aloof.

Jane didn't say anything else when Edwin didn't respond. She picked up another piece of the dessert and ate it.

After eating another piece of dessert, Jane sneakily glanced at Edwin.

She saw him eating elegantly and couldn't help but think of the aristocrats in England. He did not need to try to exude an elegant and noble demeanor; it came naturally to him.

"Is there something on my face?" Edwin suddenly asked, his eyes filled with doubt.

"No, no." Jane blushed again when she was caught glancing.

She quickly lowered her head to eat breakfast.

"If you enjoy these breakfasts, I'll have someone prepare them like this in the future," Edwin added after a long while.

Jane felt a little guilty. "Actually, there's no need for so much trouble."

Edwin put down his chopsticks, picked up a tissue, and wiped his mouth. He said lightly, "You are my wife."

"Alright." Jane didn't argue with him because Edwin's words softened her heart.

She was his wife, and he was her husband. They would be together for the rest of their lives.

As she ate the delicious snacks and drank warm milk, Jane couldn't help but think that God had been kind to her.

Though He had blocked her path to happiness, He had left a window open for her.
