C59 Mom

Mom?

Shangguan Lingwan looked at the child suspiciously. The little boy looked very delicate and pretty. His round and round smiling face carried the childishness unique to children. His pair of eyes that were as bright as stars reflected Shangguan Lingwan's appearance. The little boy grabbed Shangguan Lingwan's sleeve and kept calling her mother.

This child must have been frightened by the damn human traffickers. She saved him and the child subconsciously called her mother. This could be considered a normal phenomenon.

Shangguan Lingwan calmed herself down and squatted down to ask the little boy, "Be good, don't be afraid. That auntie was just teasing you. This is a game. The auntie who played the bad guy has already been chased away by me. I will take you to find mom, okay?"

This little boy was still young. Shangguan Lingwan deliberately said this because she did not want to leave a shadow in the heart of a child. The shadow of childhood often had an impact on a person's life.

The little boy nodded in doubt and then immediately shook his head. His little hand firmly grabbed Shangguan Lingwan's sleeve and with a red face, he muttered, "Mom, Mom is you."

For a moment, Shangguan Lingwan was unable to explain anything to this child. She noticed that the child's eyes were a little dull and his face was red. So she stretched out her hand. Sure enough, this child's forehead was very hot and it looked like he was having a high fever.

Although Shangguan Lingwan had never raised a child before, she always knew that a child having a high fever was a very scary thing. If the treatment was not timely, it was very likely to cause a lot of complications.

Originally, she planned to first calm down the child's emotions and then send him to the police station. Through the police force, she could find the child's identity information. This way, she could find the child's parents.

Now it seemed that it was basically impossible.

Shangguan Lingwan took off her coat and wrapped it tightly around the little boy's body. Then she picked up the child and called a taxi to go to the nearby hospital.

Along the way, the little boy's consciousness became more and more blurry. A pair of small hands grabbed Shangguan Lingwan's sleeves and did not let go. The little boy kept calling her mother, and his weak body could not help but tremble.

Shangguan Lingwan pursed her lips and comforted the little boy while urging the driver to hurry up. Fortunately, the driver was still a good person. When he found out that the child was having a high fever, he took a shortcut and arrived at the hospital entrance in a few minutes.

Shangguan Lingwan rushed into the hospital in three steps. Soon, there were doctors and nurses who arranged the ward. She ran up and down and paid the medical fees and went out to buy a lot of snacks and fruits.

When Shangguan Lingwan returned to the ward, the little boy had already fallen asleep. The nurse was infusing him with intravenous fluid.

"Miss Nurse, how is this child?" Shangguan Lingwan put down the shopping bag in her hand and asked anxiously. The nurse indicated that Shangguan Lingwan did not need to worry. After the infusion, the child's body temperature would drop. Eating some anti-fever medicine basically did not have any major problems.

Only then did Shangguan Lingwan heave a sigh of relief. If something happened to this child, she really would not have the face to see the child's parents. If an adult could not even protect the child, then it would be no different from trash.

A few hours later, the little boy's condition stabilized. Shangguan Lingwan planned to send the child to the police station.

Unexpectedly, just as the two of them reached the police station's door, the child hugged Shangguan Lingwan's legs tightly. His slightly hot face was pressed against Shangguan Lingwan's. His white and tender little hands overlapped and he used all his strength to not let go.

"Mommy, don't leave me behind. I'm very obedient and won't cause mother any trouble." The little boy raised his head. His tender little face was full of grievance.

Shangguan Lingwan looked at those pair of eyes that were getting brighter and brighter and her maternal nature instantly overflowed. It made sense when she thought about it. There were a bunch of men in the police station. How could they take care of the child? Anyway, it was just a matter of taking care of the child for a few days. When they found the child's parents, everything would be over.

Especially when she heard the child's pleading tone, Shangguan Lingwan could not bear to see it anymore. In the end, she still carried the child and brought the little boy back home.

Under Shangguan Lingwan's care, the little boy quickly fell asleep. Shangguan Lingwan then got up and quietly left the bedroom. She grabbed the phone in her bag and immediately called her brother.

"Brother, I will send you a photo later. Hurry up and look for the child's parents." Shangguan Lingwan shouted at the phone.

A familiar voice came from the other end of the phone, "Okay, okay, okay. I haven't called brother for so long. The moment I called, I was going to catch laborers. Miss Lingwan, did I owe you something in my previous life?"

Shangguan Lingwan snorted and reminded big brother to do it as soon as possible. She then briefly explained the current situation of the child. The sound of her brother's helpless sigh could be heard from the phone. Shangguan Lingwan stuck out her tongue. She quickly hung up the phone.

At home, her brother loved her the most. As long as it was something Shangguan Lingwan wanted, her brother would definitely put it in front of her, let alone this kind of small matter.

Shangguan Lingwan finally let out a sigh of relief. She turned around and bumped into an object.

The little boy ran out of the bedroom unknowingly. He walked to the living room in a daze and bumped into Shangguan Lingwan.

"Aiya, why did you come out by yourself? Good boy, you are still sick. Didn't the nurse tell you to have a good rest?" Shangguan Lingwan squatted down and nervously supported the little boy.

Unexpectedly, the little boy looked at the living room blankly. After a long time, he said timidly, "Mom, I am thirsty."

Shangguan Lingwan felt sad. This child was so young, he should have been taken care of by his parents. She really did not know what the parents of this child were like. The child was missing and did not go to look for it.

Even though she complained, Shangguan Lingwan immediately eagerly poured a cup of water for the child. After the little boy drank the water, she waited by the bedside.

The nurse specifically reminded him that the child with a high fever needed someone to accompany him, especially at night. If the child continued to have a high fever, he would still need to be sent to the hospital.

Shangguan Lingwan stayed by the bed and did not close her eyes for the entire night. In the morning, the older brother called to ask about the child's characteristics. He said that he had almost found the way and would be able to confirm who the child's parents were in less than two days.

Only then did Shangguan Lingwan let out a sigh of relief. Her heart that was hanging on dropped to the ground. She rubbed her swollen temple and was exceptionally tired.

The sun was just right outside the window but there was no familiar figure in her memory. The smiling man seemed to have completely disappeared this time.

Yin Hanchuan, when I catch your shadow, I will slap you on the wall. If you don't give me an explanation, I will hang you on the wall for the rest of my life as a portrait!

Shangguan Lingwan curled the corner of her mouth and could not help but smile.
