Alyssa Hall I walked into the class and none of my students bothered to greet me, I let it go and went towards where my chair was. It's been two weeks now and the students are yet to adapt to me. Our final year week celebration in school was close and that clouded my thoughts, I'll be a graduate in a month's time and I still don't have plans on what to do with my life after school. I plopped on the chair and ordered the kids to submit their assignment for marking. They hesitated at first but one of the twins implored them to submit to him — I think he's the calmer, one seemed cooler than the other, I've noticed them. Ivaan was the one who approached me with the books in his hands, Ivan — the cold one, didn't follow but he was used to going about with his twin wherever he want. "Here." He stretched forth his tiny hands and I smiled at him. "Thank you." I muttered and collected the books from him. "You're welcome, ma'am Alyssa." He said shyly and hurried back to his seat, I was surprised he called my name. None of the kids ever did that. After I was done giving scores to their books, I shared it back to them and went straight to the day's topic. After I was done teaching, I gave them an assignment as usual and soon after their parent started arriving to pick them home. I was outside staying with the kids till their parents was around to pick them, I saw Ivan and Ivaan rushing towards a black car that looked expensive. I monitored them and a young man stepped out of the car before they could reach it. She was the most beautiful face I've seen all my life, she dressed so classy and one could easily detect she was rich from her her womanly fragrance filled the air. She wore a low heeled sandals and a strapless gown, she packed her hair into a simple bun making her look like a runaway model. I drooled when I saw her, she was pretty no doubts. The twins hugged her when she caught up with them and I could hear one of them shout "Mommy." It was at that moment, I got to know she was their mother, she bent to their level and kissed them on the forehead as she checked if they were alright or not. I smiled and watched them bond, they looked so cute together. "Mom, will you like to meet our new teacher?" Ivaan asked his mother and she narrowed her brows. I looked away from them and searched for a place to hide, I wasn't ready to meet that Sophisticated lady yet. "You have a new teacher?" She asked like she was surprised. "Yes mom, she teaches us in the afternoon after Miss Jane goes home and we don't even like her." Ivan added to his brother's point and my shoulders sagged, I expected that from him though, I wasn't too disappointed. "Ooh, don't say that about people." She gave him a look of disapproval. "She's an older and deserves some respect okay?" She cautioned and the little boy nodded his head in understanding, I loved how she was quick to correct them when they went wrong. "Ivaan, I'll meet your teacher some other time okay?" She promised the boy and clutched their tiny hands with hers and led them to the car, they jumped as they walked towards where the car was parked. I smiled, and that only made me miss my mother and good old days but I couldn't bring back the hands of clock. I slung my tote bag on one arm and held it firmly, I had to get some drugs for Callie even though, she had protested against getting them. As I walked down the street, my mind drifted to our upcoming final year week and the different activities that was to be done. The owner of Hailey college was an African man — a Nigerian to be precise and he made it compulsory that we follow the Nigerian university's way of celebrating their final year week in grand style. We had a week for the celebration and were meant to contribute some levy, the last cash on me was what I was going to the pharmacy with and I don't know how Callie and I would survive for days. I shrugged my shoulders and entered into the pharmacy, after buying what I needed I got back to trekking to the house and the announcement made by the director before closing for the day suddenly crossed my mind. He had informed us about the coming of the boss in charge of the school —one of this Morris empire's men, he informed us ahead of his visit so we won't be caught off guard. He was coming the next week to check if the construction and every other thing he signed for in the school are going on well and Mr Christopher also told us, he wanted to meet the part-time teachers. He had called the four of us into his office and advised us to prepare for his coming, I was ready though. I planned to wear one of my best dresses that day but that would be after I got back from school, I planned to go back home and pull out my pair of jeans and hoodie —my favorite clothing, I feel safer wearing them, I'm not the one to wear a dress but sometimes, some things matter. I got a call from Deedee, I picked up and placed the call on my ear. "Hey! I'm sponsoring our FYB (Final Year Brethen) week." She announced over the time and I scurried, I couldn't hide my joy. Deedee always did that —know when I'm stranded and help me out. "Wow!" I yelled attracting other passer-bys attention but I didn't care. "Do you have to do this?" I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes, she always got me feeling that way —so emotional. "I don't want you to feel left out and besides, mom paid for it not me. So, don't thank me too much." She joked. "Deedee, I'm grateful." I simply said because I was too happy to speak more words. "I'm so happy." "Where are you, I want to come over." She said. "Just got out of the pharmacy but I'm heading home right now." I told her and after few more words were said, I ended the call and focused on the road I was on before her call came in.
