C80 Chapter 79

"My Mom and Dad you mean." Trigger gave him a cold answer, which at first I didn't understand but as it slowly dawned on me what they were talking about, I just wanted to go home.

I fully thought that with the passage of time, their dislike for me, especially Mommy in Trigger, would pass, but it seems I was wrong. I relied on wrong information. I hoped for something that would never happen. No hope. Very vague.

Ciffer slowly nodded and his grin could not escape my eyes. It's funny to think that even though it's a cliché, it's actually proven and tested that 'your best friend is also your best enemy'.

I lost my attention on Ciffer when Trigger caressed my hand so I looked at him. His hand went around to my waist and then he caressed the big one.

"Let's go inside Wife." And before I could answer, he led me inside the house. I haven't even escaped Ciffer's eyes... on me. It's impossible for him to torture Trigger, right?

We continued to walk through Trigger's rather long receiving area until we reached their dining room. There were so many voices that were heard as we entered. Laughing and talking about business and I can't help but feel out of place.

I don't know anything about business. Nothing. How can I join their conversation if I can't relate? I'll just be embarrassed. I will only embarrass myself. That's why I was unable to stop walking, which also stopped Trigger from walking.

"Is there something wrong, wife?" But before I could answer Trigger's question. We heard Ciffer's loud voice from behind me.

"We're here!" Everyone was silent and all attention turned to each other. It didn't escape my eyes how the people sitting at the dining table looked at me with scrutinizing eyes. I can see the hatred and disappointment in their eyes.

Until maybe Mrs. Steinfield is speaking. He stood up from where he was sitting and then he looked at me from the top of his head and he looked for a long time at my big stomach down to my feet.

"And really, you still have the courage to show up here!"

"Mommy!" Trigger immediately looked at his mom. I could clearly see how her mother's breathing quickened due to her anger at me.

"Have you forgotten how that woman almost destroyed our family! Your Daddy left us, your Grandfather died of heart disease because of that woman – that dirty woman!" He wasn't satisfied yet and he taught me more. He was about to approach me when Trigger's Daddy grabbed him by the arm while Trigger hid me behind him.

I don't know how to react. I was even more confused. I don't know what he is saying. I have no idea. And before I could ask what Trigger's Mommy meant, he escaped from Trigger's Daddy's grip and the next thing I saw was myself sitting down because he pushed me

I closed my eyes from the pain that enveloped me, starting from my butt to my hip until it reached the middle part of my body.

I held my stomach tightly as I gradually felt like I was urinating and when I opened my eyes, it was just like that and my heart was so scared that I could feel my blood see me little by little crawling on my leg.

Since my surroundings became noisy as I shouted Trigger's name and my body gradually weakened until before I completely lost consciousness, I finally heard Trigger's voice calling me.

"Nicole! Nicole! F uck! Nicole!!"

"How did you and Mrs. Steinfield meet?" That's what I immediately asked Ciffer when I returned to the entrance. He turned his full attention to me after closing his sketchbook. And then he slowly nodded at my question to him.

"How?" I asked again as I was not satisfied with his simple nod.

"Business." And then he shrugged his shoulders and returned his attention to his sketch book. Ciffer is my best friend, I trust him but why is that? I feel that he is hiding from me that he should know.

"What business?" Ask Ciffer again. I really can't stop asking. I want an answer that I can only get from him. He turned his attention to me again.

"Angeline - " But before he could continue what he was going to say, our classmates suddenly became silent so our attention turned to them. That's why they were quiet, Ma'am Santos, our terror teacher, is here. That's why as much as I don't want to and as much as I want to, I have no choice but to keep quiet and piloting to focus on our lesson.

I don't know if it's just me or Ciffer is really avoiding my question about his acquaintance with Mrs. Steinfield, the whole day we were together, he was just busy sketching his designs and he repeatedly told me that he was finishing it for the deadline of the fashion school he attended.

I understand that, and his reason was for school, so I kept quiet all day, but when I got home, I had the same feeling that I couldn't stop asking. I would like to ask Trigger, but I feel that Trigger has nothing to do with this. It looks like you still don't care.

"Cipher." He immediately swallowed me with raised eyebrows as if he had no idea what I was going to say.

"That... the question I asked earlier." It was soft to say to him until all of a sudden there was silence around us that's why I heard him sigh after a while.

"It's just pure business Nicole." He answered me while looking straight into my eyes. But mine is still lacking. I was not satisfied with his answer.

"Uh. Is that so." And then I just shrugged my shoulders. We left the classroom together and awkwardly said goodbye to each other when we got to the parking lot.

"You look bothered."
