C3 Chapter two

It was a fun day for Elena and her kids. Their laughter alone replenished her after what happened while she was in the restroom of a restaurant they attended for dinner.

She was unlucky to meet a once acquaintance of hers. A girl who hated her guts, a girl who was darn jealous of her because she married Alexander Black.

He's after all, a cynosure of all eyes. A man every girl wants to open their legs for.

"So this is where you ran to?" Was her first statement to Elena.

Elena lowered her gaze, took a towel, and cleaned her hands, wanting to ignore the girl.

The girl pushed her arm making Elena stumble back. She gave her a confused look. "What's your problem, Betty?"

Betty scoffed, folding her arms as she glowered at Elena. "Problem? I don't have any. Hearing about you and Alex breaking up, was like the food I was so hungry for, it filled me."

Elena nodded. "Yeah, well that's four years ago and in the past. You've got what you want, good for you, so leave me alone."

Betty smiled at her. "In the end, you lost, Elena. You acted all better than me, made me feel anger after stealing him away from me."

"I never stole him from you, Betty. You were never his. Just another slut in his eyes." Elena retorted.

Betty's hands fell beside her, turning into a fist.

"You were the biggest slut, Elena. He came to give a speech in school back then, and you seduced him."

Elena looked away remembering those times. She was in her last year in college, trying hard to think of what next to do in life before she bumped into him accidentally. That day was the first day they met.....

"Elena, why on earth aren't you in class yet, the lecturer is about to arrive." Her friend, Emily scolded her over the phone.

Elena came out of the shuttle with her books in hand as she ran toward the lecture hall. "I'm almost there, Em. My mom delayed me. Just try to save a seat for me, okay?"

Emily sighed. "Just be fast about it."

Elena nodded, but before she could say a word, she bumped into a man's back, causing her to stumble back all her books, and materials falling on the floor.

She gasped and the man turned to look at her at the impact. She bowed at him. "I'm sorry." And she immediately squatted to pick up her books on the floor.

The man just stood watching her, for some reason, amusement was suddenly written in his eyes. The girl was beautiful and looked innocent.

Elena stood up with all her books and gave him another bow. "My apologies." She told him before running towards the hall, and into it.

The man turned and looked at her. She didn't even spare a second to notice him or to stare in awe at him like girls normally do.

He looked back at his script prepared for his speech and wondered if he was gonna see the girl again. Hopefully, she's a fourth-year student and he'll be able to spot her while he gives his speech.

She remembered Betty couldn't stop talking about him. Betty tried everything possible to get close to him only to discover he was interested in Elena.

Elena was surprised at first. He asked her for coffee and after that, things happened and they became close.

She sighed, looking back at Betty. "Well think what you like."

Betty shrugged. "I will. Fortunately, he realized the kind of slut you are." She sneered at Elena and catwalk out of the room.

Elena let out a breath and blinked back the tears that threaten to escape from her eyes. It was like that day suddenly enveloped her memories.

She decided to brush things off and go back to her kids since they might be wondering why she's taking time. She can't keep letting anything get to her.

They were already back home since it was evening, and she freshened them up and got them ready for bed as they were already looking exhausted.

After tucking them to bed, she came down the stairs realizing Evan's things weren't in the house. It confused her so she called him.

After four rings he picked. "He..hello."

She could hear noises in the background.

"Where are you, Evan? What are you doing?"

"Don't worry, Lena. I'm with friends." He sounded like he was drunk.

"Are you drunk, Evan?" She decided to ask.

"Don't worry about me."

Elena sighed. "Your things aren't here." She made it known.

"Yeah, I took it. I'm with a friend."

Elena rolled her eyes since Evan is never gonna stop his habit. "Better be careful, Evan. You just broke up with someone and you're already moving on to someone else."

"That is wrong, Lena. I'm not moving on, okay? I'm fine."

Elena nodded, deciding not to bother anymore.

"Fine then. Will I be seeing you before you leave?"

"Maybe. Maybe not. Not sure."

"Evan..."

"Love you but I gotta go." Evan rambled before he hung the call-up.

Elena sighed loudly and brush off whatever worries she was feeling. Evan isn't a kid anyways.

She sat on her couch, and Betty's face suddenly appeared in her mind. She's been trying her best to avoid thinking about it, but she couldn't.

She rested her head on the couch as she imagined how their kids will feel if they saw their father. If it was right to keep them away from him, especially since she knows where he lives.

Her dad died when she was ten and her mom was like the worse mother on earth. She was always absent, and drunk. The only thing her mom did for her is gave her money to finish high school. Going to college was her hard-earned money.

She was tired of life and wanted to leave. She wanted to show her mom she'll turn out better.

After everything, she ended up being married and was tossed out of the house. The shame she felt, felt like she was standing on a pinnacle where the cold, blazing wind whipped about her. Her life felt messed up.

She made sure it didn't affect her though. She made sure her kids didn't suffer for it. She made sure that she wasn't looking like her mother.

Deep down, she knows she's enough for her kids, but they also need their father. It was a contributing factor to Xander's fights in school. His mates make fun of him that he's got no father.

They have the right to know their father.

It's not as if their father is a bad person. He's just one angry, jealous mess. Although she wouldn't blame him. Those pictures were too real.

She just thought he trusted her.

Her eyes slowly closed as she was already getting drowsy, and suddenly she jerked awake as a knock sounded on her door. She sighed tiredly and looked at the door.

She got up from the couch and walked towards it, wondering who could be visiting.

Opening it, her eyes widened at the sight, and her heart began beating at the man that unexpectedly graced her with his sight.

"Missed me?"

She blinked at his deep voice, completely shocked as she wondered what the hell was going on.
