C4 Chapter three

Elena was stiffened to the spot where she stood, her hand on her door, and her eyes locked on Alex. The confusion in her knew no bounds. It felt like the shock paralyzed her.

A man who pushed her out of his house was suddenly in front of her once again. Why? Why is he here now?

Although he's still as handsome as usual. His perfectly chiseled face, perfectly styled black hair, his blue eyes, and the way he dresses, it didn't change. Black pantsuits, black coat, black everything. Six feet three inches tall while she's just five feet, seven inches. There wasn't any change in him she could notice.

Alex didn't say anything to her. He just stared, more like accessed her, how different she looked, how more beautiful she became.

Elena let out a shaky breath and blinked away after deciding to come back to her senses. "What are you doing here?"

"Aren't you gonna invite me in?" He asked seriously.

Elena shook her head. "No, I won't, cause you're not welcomed."

Alex nodded. "Fair, but what I've come to tell you isn't something we should be talking about outside."

"I don't even what to talk to..." She paused as she remembered the father of her children is standing in front of her.

She turned towards the stairs and back at him, feeling restless. "What..." She sighed as he gave her a raised eyebrow, then she opened the door widely. "Come in."

He walked inside, looked around the room, and then turned to look at her. "You're doing well for yourself. How's work?"

Elena held her sweaty palms together cause if he could sense emotions, he could have seen how uneasy she was.

"Just...just please say what you have come to say. Why are you here?"

She was worried since she was not ready yet. What if any of her kids come down the stairs? She wasn't ready.

"I came here to talk."

"About?" She questioned.

"About ever..."

"Mommy?"

Elena immediately looked toward the stairs and saw Xander coming down from them, rubbing his sleepy eyes as he did so.

Alex's eyes were glued on the kid. He looked at Elena who gave him a side glance before going to meet the kid and carrying him in her arms.

"What's wrong, baby? Why are you awake?" Elena asked him.

He blinked wondering what was happening, his eyes glued on the both of them.

"I had a nightmare, mommy." Xander made it known, putting his head on his mom's shoulder.

Elena patted his back. "It's okay, son. I'll put you back to bed."

But as she was about to head to the stairs, Xander looked over her shoulder at the man just standing and looking at him. "Who are you?"

It made Elena stop in her tracks. It was something her son always does whenever he sees a man in the house. He always acts overprotective. He hates it when he sees a man close to his mom. He was always suspicious.

Elena turned to look at Alex whose eyes were on them, then she lowered her gaze, while Xander turned his head to look at the man. He was big and tall.

"I'm...your mother's friend." Alex decided to answer. "And uh, who might you be, little man?" He asked the kid.

Xander wiggled himself from his mother's hold making her drop him. He walked up to Alex and brought his hand out. "I'm Xander, nice to meet you."

Alex's face formed a smile, amusement evident on his face. He bent a little and took his small hand. "Is that your full name?"

Xander shook his head and removed his hand from his hold. "Alexander. And you? What's yours?"

Elena looked away as Alex's gaze dropped to hers. He looked back at the kid. "It seems we're namesakes. I'm Alexander too."

Xander gaped. "Really?"

Alex nodded. "How old are you?"

Elena was getting the urge to stop his questions, but she just couldn't. He should know.

"Four," Xander answered causing Alex to look back at Elena.

"If you wanna marry my mommy, you can't." Xander suddenly spoke out making Elena to gasp and causing Alex to look at him.

"What?" Alex blurted out.

"No one is allowed to marry my mommy except my dad. It's just a little fight and soon he'll come back and I don't want him disappointed."

"So you're keeping your mom for your dad?" Alex asked in amusement.

Xander nodded. "Yes. He'll definitely come back, and might get mad if he sees mommy with someone else."

Elena just sighed.

Alex chuckled and nodded. "Sure."

"Uh..." Elena trailed causing them to look at her. "Come here, Xander."

Xander instantly went to her.

"Why don't you go back to bed? Mommy needs to talk to her visitor?"

Xander nodded. "Okay." Then he looked at Alex. "Good night, Xander."

Alex chuckled at him. "It's Alex, and Good night " He made it known.

Xander ran up the stairs to his room.

Elena swallowed and looked at him, her hands crossed on her stomach. "It's late, you should leave."

Alex looked at her. "He's mine, right?"

Elena nodded. "I'm pretty sure it's obvious."

Alex equally nodded. "It definitely is. You could have told me."

Elena rose a brow. "Oh. I thought you knew everything."

"I don't know everything, okay? I only wanted to find you so I search for addresses, not your whole life."

Elena nodded. "Now that you've found me, what do you have to say?"

Alex took steps toward her, making her step back dropping her hands beside her. "Don't come any closer." She warned him.

He stopped in his tracks in confusion. "Why? You don't miss me? You never once thought of me?"

Then he chuckled. "Actually I doubt that, after all, you name our son after me."

Elena blinked and looked away, turning her hands into fists to stop them from trembling further. His arrogant attitude can be so irksome.

"You know I'm gonna have to be present in my son's life, right? You can't stop me."

Elena looked back at him and nodded. "I know." She blinked, dropping her gaze, and deciding to just tell him all of it. "And...and it's not just him."

He rose a brow. "What do you mean?"

She gulped and looked at him. "You...you have a daughter."

He blanched, looked towards the stairs, and back at her in surprise. "What? I...I have a daughter?"

Elena nodded seeing how pleased and delighted he looks. "Her name is Amy. They're twins."

He sighed as everything was all new to him. It wasn't what he expected. It was unbelievable. He didn't know he left her pregnant and she didn't tell him.

"You could have told me you were pregnant."

Elena scoffed. "Did you look at yourself in the mirror then? Besides, I tried telling you but the only thing in your mind was to get me out of your house."

He ran his hands through his hair knowing he fucked up bad. He came here for a reason, only to find out more reasons to keep beating himself up.

"You should leave, Alex."

Alex nodded. "And my kids? I wanna..."

"I know. I'll try telling them."

He nodded again. "Please do."

Elena just nodded and looked away.

He walked closer to her, but before she could step back, he grabbed her hand and pulled her closer, earning a gasp from her. "What are you doing?" She asked, their face so close to each other.

"I just wanna do this." He said before planting a kiss on her forehead causing Elena to sigh at the feeling. "And to let you know that you're more beautiful than I remembered." He made known before letting go.

Elena lowered her gaze, not wanting to meet his gaze on hers.

"I'll see you soon." He told her and left the house.

Elena squatted, her arms crossed on her legs as she felt weak thanks to him. She was breathing heavily due to how nervous she felt at his sudden appearance.

Just like that, her ex-husband is back in her life.
