While perusing the newspaper at the front door, I furrowed my brows thoughtfully. Now that I’m back in my father’s care, I feel better than I ever have. In retrospect, it was foolish of me to leave him. I knew he was rejected by his family, including my mother, so I shouldn’t have questioned his devotion to me.
