C1 A Poor Girl Came to Propose to Him!
In the study of Bo Manor, Bo Yandong faced the woman before him with an icy tone. "You want to marry me?"
She was clad in a sleek black slip dress that showcased her delicate collarbones and a neck as graceful as a swan's. A pink rose tattoo provocatively blossomed on her slender left arm. Between her pale fingers, a cigarette smoldered, the smoke veiling her alluring face.
"Mr. Bo," Gu Zhiwei exhaled a plume of white smoke, her voice husky and unwittingly sensual. "This is a transaction that benefits us both. Why not consider it?"
Bo Yandong's demeanor remained frosty, his eyes narrowing like a cheetah's, his piercing gaze as if trying to see right through Gu Zhiwei.
Her eyes were enchanting, with long lashes and upturned corners tinged with a pitiable red. Her nose was pert, her lips a deep crimson. Thick, luscious hair cascaded over her shoulders, and with a slight tilt of her head, she could hide most of her face, conjuring images of a siren.
It was difficult to believe that this seemingly fragile woman had silently infiltrated the well-defended Bo Manor, subdued six bodyguards outside his door, and brazenly entered his study. Her opening line was a marriage proposal.
The air in the room grew tense.
After a long silence, Bo Yandong spoke with gravity, "We are strangers to each other."
Gu Zhiwei snuffed out her cigarette and tossed it effortlessly into a nearby trash can, hitting the mark perfectly.
"Gu Zhiwei," she said, taking steps toward Bo Yandong. "Does the name ring a bell, Mr. Bo?"
A flicker of astonishment crossed Bo Yandong's face as his eyebrows lifted slightly.
Gu Zhiwei was a name known to everyone in the capital's elite circles.
He had heard of her, yet their paths had never crossed. The eldest daughter of the Gu family, she was now twenty-one. Orphaned at six, sent to the countryside at ten to recover from an illness, it wasn't until she turned eighteen that Gu Tingchuan brought her back to the capital.
I had assumed that she would be meek and submissive, raised by the simple folks of the countryside. However, she turned out to be anything but—arrogant and domineering to the core. She tormented her own sister, clashed fiercely with her stepmother, and even managed to infuriate Gu Tingchuan to the point where he nearly ended up in the hospital on several occasions.
Upon entering university, her audacity only grew. She left the Gu family home and spent her days cavorting with ne'er-do-wells in bars and on the underground streets. Could such an uneducated and defiant woman truly aspire to be the wife of the capital's most eligible bachelor? The very idea was laughable!
At his wit's end, the special assistant Qin Chuan appealed to Bo Yandong, "Mr. Bo, this woman is clearly out of her mind! Allow me to escort her out!"
Bo Yandong withdrew his gaze, signaling his silent consent.
"Wait!" Gu Zhiwei interjected, halting Qin Chuan's advance. She lifted her cool, light brown eyes slowly to meet Bo Yandong's. "Mr. Bo, do you suffer from severe insomnia? Has it worsened over the years, to the point where you need sleeping pills just to get through the night?"
Bo Yandong's eyes grew frostier at her words, his voice cutting through the air like an icy wind. "You've been investigating me?"
"Not at all," Gu Zhiwei replied with a sly grin, approaching his desk under his icy scrutiny. Her slender fingers tapped lightly on the surface, her gaze never leaving Bo Yandong's face.
He sat in his leather chair, a tall and lean figure dressed in a finely tailored suit, the epitome of elegance. His demeanor was aloof and regal, seemingly untouchable.
Merely sitting there, he exuded an aura that commanded respect, deterring any notion of irreverence. Gu Zhiwei observed his obsidian-like eyes and her red lips twisted into a mischievous smile.
