C12 Jealousy!(last part)
Qin Lang slowly opened his eyes, a scar on his brow lending him an air of defiance.
"Has she arrived?"
His voice, straddling the line between boyhood and manhood, was crisp and resonant, a pleasure to hear.
"Yeah, the guys in the hallway can't take their eyes off her," Lee Du said, glancing out the window with a raised eyebrow. "Even though our class boasts the two most stunning girls on campus, I've hardly seen her in class."
Qin Lang let out a cold snort.
"Honestly, I find Gu Zhiwei even more beautiful than Gu Ruoshan," Lee Du mused, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "Born to the same parents, yet one is the epitome of beauty, the other a bewitching enigma; one demure, the other defiant. It's quite the curiosity."
"Smack!"
Qin Lang grabbed a book and thwacked Lee Du's head with it.
Lee Du clutched the back of his head and yelped, turning back with a sheepish grin, "Right, right, right. The school belle reigns supreme. Gu Zhiwei, the academic slacker, doesn't hold a candle to her."
Qin Lang's crush on Gu Ruoshan was an open secret at Beiverlim University.
Amidst their banter, Gu Zhiwei entered the classroom to the sound of astonished murmurs.
Qin Lang's gaze followed the collective awe.
The woman, clad in a bold red dress, was like a rose in full bloom—captivating and alluring.
In just a moment, she commanded all attention.
This wasn't Qin Lang's first encounter with Gu Zhiwei, but each time, he was taken aback by her stunning presence.
He forced himself to look away.
Gu Zhiwei and Chen Xixi took their seats in the back row, right beside Qin Lang.
Without looking, she could sense the hostility radiating from him.
Qin Lang fancied himself as Gu Ruoshan's potential boyfriend, oblivious to the fact that her heart was set on becoming Mrs. Bo.
She leaned back in her chair, resting her hand on the desk, her slender fingers tapping rhythmically.
Qin Lang caught a glimpse and felt his heartbeat falter.
Noise from the hallway filtered in once more.
Gu Zhiwei looked up just in time to see Gu Ruoshan walk in, her face ashen.
She slipped into a subdued yet stunning blush-colored dress that made her complexion appear even more delicate and radiant.
Gu Ruoshan's sidekick, Zhao Qiao, caught sight of Gu Zhiwei and her eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Gu Zhiwei! You have the nerve to show up at school?"
The classroom fell eerily silent.
Gu Ruoshan followed Zhao Qiao's gaze and locked eyes with a pair of mischievous black pupils.
"Zhi...Zhiwei?"
Gu Ruoshan called out hesitantly, her teeth nervously nibbling on her lower lip, her face the picture of aggrievement. "What brings you here?"
Gu Zhiwei let out a derisive laugh. "Since when do I need to clear my attendance with you? And drop the endearments; we're hardly close."
Zhao Qiao stepped in front of Gu Ruoshan and slammed her palm down on the desk in front of Gu Zhiwei.
"Slut! You're the reason Ruoshan passed out and nearly missed class. Now you're strutting around as if nothing happened! It's just like a wild girl from the sticks—born of a mother but raised without any manners!"
Gu Zhiwei's features instantly iced over.
A scream pierced the air, and when everyone regained their composure, Zhao Qiao was pinned against the wall by Gu Zhiwei.
Gu Ruoshan, realizing things had escalated, inwardly cursed Zhao Qiao's foolishness but maintained a facade of frailty. "Sister, Zhao Qiao is blunt and always stands up for what's right. She was just concerned about me..."
Her voice broke, and she feigned a sob. "Please, don't hold it against her."
Qin Lang, seeing his beloved in distress, stepped forward to shield Gu Ruoshan.
But before he could speak, Gu Zhiwei pushed him aside with impatience. "Out of my way!"
Chen Xixi cast a worried glance at Gu Zhiwei and reached out to her. "Zhiwei, keep your cool. Don't let these people get to you."
