C36 (last part)

What did it matter if Bo Yandong didn't like her?

As long as Old Mrs. Bo favored her, she was certain to become Bo Yandong's wife.

Bo Yandong narrowed his eyes as he appraised Gu Ruoshan, his gaze icy. "Has Grandma forgotten that her grandson is bringing his wife home for dinner with you tonight?"

Gu Ruoshan tensed, her heart plummeting.

Impossible! It simply couldn't be!

If they were married, then what did that make her?

Chung Shuang sighed, looking at her with remorse. "I was in the dark about this too. I only found out yesterday."

Gu Ruoshan's face turned ashen as she slowly shook her head, whispering, "Impossible..."

She couldn't accept that she had lost to Gu Zhiwei. She was clearly superior in every way!

Why, then?

She composed herself and looked at Chung Shuang with a feigned sadness. "If you knew, why did you still invite me over tonight?"

Gu Zhiwei remained silent for a long while before she couldn't help but laugh.

It was as if she would have stayed away today had she known about this.

"What's so funny?" Chung Shuang frowned, "That's incredibly rude!"

She had always heard about Gu Zhiwei's impoliteness, and now she was witnessing it firsthand.

Overcome with anger, Chung Shuang began to cough loudly, clutching her chest.

Gu Zhiwei offered no rebuttal to the elderly lady, instead turning to the silent man with a hint of regret. "Let's call it a day. Old Mrs. Bo doesn't wish to see me."

Bo Yandong rose to his feet and directed Ms. Zhang, "Please assist Grandma back to her room to rest."

With that, he departed with Gu Zhiwei.

In the Bo family garden.

Bo Yandong glanced at the woman's profile, a contemplative light flickering in his eyes.

"Gu Zhiwei," he suddenly called out her name.

Gu Zhiwei halted and looked up at him, "Yes?"

He gazed into her clear, brown eyes in silence.

Finally, he spoke, "The person who took Grandma home that day was you, wasn't it?"

Caught off guard for a moment, Gu Zhiwei then smiled softly and nodded.

Bo Yandong's heartbeat stuttered, a warm sensation spreading slowly through his chest.

Gu Zhiwei cradled a smile as she looked up at him. "Do you think it's me?"

The man gave a slight nod. "Yes, it's you."

Her eyebrows lifted in a delighted smile, her mood instantly brightening.

"Let's go," she said, taking the man's hand and giving him a playful wink. "Walk me home."

His lips curled up in a quick, fleeting smile.

He was unsure why she hadn't revealed the truth in front of her grandmother, but if she chose to remain silent, he would find the right moment to clarify everything to Old Mrs. Bo.

From the start, the woman Old Mrs. Bo had her eye on was none other than Gu Zhiwei.

And it could only be Gu Zhiwei.

The Bentley elegantly pulled up to the entrance of Elite Community.

As Gu Zhiwei unbuckled her seatbelt to exit the car, a thought struck her, and she turned back to cup Bo Yandong's face, puckering her lips and moving in closer.

He quickly put his hand up, blocking her advance – the gesture was icy.

Gu Zhiwei's frown conveyed her displeasure. "Yandong, won't you even give me a goodnight kiss?"

He regarded her with a cool expression. "I'll pick you up at 8:30 tomorrow morning."

"Hmm?" Gu Zhiwei's eyebrows danced, her smile taking on a teasing edge. "Are you planning to take me on a date?"

Silence hung in the car for a brief two seconds.

Finally, Bo Yandong parted his lips and said slowly, "I'm taking you to school."

"So... if I agree, will you kiss me?"

A hint of red colored his ears as he averted his gaze. After a moment's hesitation, he leaned in tentatively and pressed a soft kiss to her lips.

It was a gentle touch, brief and tender.
