C44 Bet!(part II)
"Holy shit!" he blurted out, then turned to Gu Ruoshan with a look of schadenfreude. "Miss Ruoshan, guess what I stumbled upon in the forum?"
Lee Du had developed a grudge against Gu Ruoshan due to Qin Lang's downcast mood.
He didn't need Qin Lang to spell it out for him; it was clear to Lee Du that Gu Ruoshan had somehow wounded Mr. Wolf's heart, probably over the CEO of Bo's.
Today, he was determined to get revenge on behalf of Mr. Wolf and teach this heartbreaker a lesson!
A sense of foreboding washed over Gu Ruoshan.
She turned to face Lee Du's gleeful expression and managed a weak smile. "What did you see?"
Lee Du lifted his phone, displaying the photo for all to see.
"This morning, your so-called fiancé actually dropped off your sister Gu Zhiwei at school, affectionately patting her head and saying he'd come back for her after class. And there's talk that Bo Yandong also brought Gu Zhiwei to school yesterday morning. Zhao Qiao spread rumors that she got out of some old man's car. What's the story there?"
He paused before adding, "Everyone knows Zhao Qiao is your closest confidant. Can you honestly say you had no idea she was spreading these rumors?"
Gu Ruoshan's face paled as she looked at the photo on his phone.
She cast her gaze downward, concealing the turmoil in her eyes, and spoke softly, "I truly had no idea about Zhao Qiao's actions. Had I known, I would have certainly stopped her."
The classroom had become a hubbub of whispers and speculation, with numerous scornful eyes trained on her.
"Does she really not know what Zhao Qiao did? I bet she's the one who directed Zhao Qiao to do it."
"And you know what? Yesterday morning, I personally witnessed Gu Zhiwei stepping out of that luxury car. It was Ruoshan who first suggested to me that Zhiwei was playing the other woman. I nearly went online to post about it. Then out of nowhere, Zhao Qiao posts with an alt account, and she wasn't even around. If it wasn't Gu Ruoshan pulling the strings, who else could it be?"
"It's hard to believe she's so two-faced, pretending to be all meek and harmless when she's actually so malicious inside!"
"She's truly heartless! I bet she thought Gu Zhiwei wouldn't bother coming to school. But who could have predicted that the Bo family's young master would personally escort Gu Zhiwei to class?"
"Enough!" Gu Ruoshan burst out, standing up abruptly, "Everyone, just shut up!"
Her fierce tone silenced everyone instantly.
Gu Ruoshan's fists were clenched, her eyes red with anger as she advanced towards Gu Zhiwei.
"Is this what you wanted?" she demanded, her voice tinged with sorrow and fury, "You know full well that Old Mrs. Bo prefers me as her granddaughter-in-law, yet you persist in flirting with Bo Yandong right in front of me, humiliating me in front of our classmates. He's rightfully mine! Do you find joy in taking what's mine?"
It was the first time she had ever lost her composure in public.
Gone was her poised demeanor, her usual grace replaced by raw emotion.
Gu Zhiwei rose to her feet, gazing down at the contorted face of Gu Ruoshan. "You're treating him like a possession?" she asked icily.
"And what if I am?" Gu Ruoshan shot back defiantly. "Your flirting with him—isn't it just to show you're better than me? If that's the case, are you brave enough to make a wager with me?"
A slow smile curved Gu Zhiwei's lips, though it didn't reach her eyes. "What's the stake?"
"The school competition. Whoever qualifies for the ICPC contest wins, and the loser backs down for good."
Gu Zhiwei arched an eyebrow, looking Gu Ruoshan up and down with undisguised scorn. "Why should I bother betting with you?"
