C46 I Want to be with You!(part I)
Gu Zhiwei shifted her position nonchalantly and gave Zhang Yanmei a fleeting glance. "Rest assured, Director Zhang. I've got this under control."
Zhang Yanmei was momentarily taken aback by her confidence, struggling to retort, "Fine! I'm eager to see what kind of splash you'll make!"
If someone like Gu Zhiwei, with her lack of scholarly prowess, could score a win in this competition, Zhang Yanmei would eat her hat!
The competition teams were formed voluntarily, and Zhang Yanmei's role was to register each team member's name before submitting them to the administration office.
The students decided to form groups of three and select their own team leaders, who would then submit their team lists to Zhang Yanmei for final record-keeping.
Before long, the students had self-organized into trios, and once the teams were formed, they submitted their names.
As it turned out, both Gu Zhiwei's and Gu Ruoshan's teams were one member short.
In the whole class, only Qin Lang and Lee Te had yet to join a team.
Gu Zhiwei's team had only Chen Xixi on board.
Meanwhile, Gu Ruoshan had teamed up with Chung Lu.
Choosing between the teams was a no-brainer for anyone with a discerning eye.
Gu Ruoshan was the first to make a move, approaching Qin Lang with a graceful smile. "Qin Lang, I invite you to join my team. Together, we can clinch the championship and advance to the international competition. What do you say?"
Qin Lang looked up, his gaze icy and detached.
His aloof expression sent a shiver of unease through Gu Ruoshan.
Qin Lang had never looked at her that way before.
It was all Gu Zhiwei's fault! If not for her, Qin Lang wouldn't be giving her the cold shoulder!
Without a word, Qin Lang rose to his feet, bypassing her to stand before Gu Zhiwei. "I'd like to team up with you."
Zhiwei arched an eyebrow and nonchalantly pulled a crumpled sheet of paper from her drawer.
Qin Lang caught a glimpse of it; it was covered in chaotic lines resembling a musical score, though they were obscured by heavy scribbles.
The girl turned the paper over and leisurely penned a few names onto it.
Her handwriting was far from neat, sprawling across the page in a haphazard dance.
True to her nature, she was free-spirited and unbound.
After finishing her writing, she passed the paper to Qin Lang, instructing, "You turn it in."
Qin Lang accepted the paper, a faint smile forming as he glanced at the names.
Gu Ruoshan, standing nearby, caught sight of this and grew frantic, "Qin Lang, are you really going to join her team?"
Her eyes were wide, brimming with a single tear, giving her a forlorn look.
In the past, such a sight would have surely swayed Qin Lang.
"Move," he said icily, his gaze frosty.
Gu Ruoshan was petrified by his look, rooted to the spot.
Qin Lang strode past her, his shoulder bumping hers forcefully as he made his way to the podium without a hint of emotion. "Director Zhang, here is our team's roster."
Zhang Yanmei received the list, her brow furrowing at the scrawled handwriting. "Qin Lang, are you certain you want to be in her team?"
Even she, as a teacher, found it hard to watch.
Clearly, joining Gu Ruoshan's group would have been the better choice. Why did he insist on choosing Gu Zhiwei?
"Director Zhang, please go ahead and register the list," Qin Lang stated, clearly uninterested in further discussion.
Zhang Yanmei sighed, looking at him with a mix of frustration and concern, "I just hope you don't end up regretting this!"
...
Bo Manor.
Bo Yandong arrived back at the estate and made his way directly to Old Mrs. Bo's quarters.
Upon entering, he was greeted by the severe coughing of the old lady. Ms. Zhang was at her side, holding a cup of warm water and offering her medication.
"What happened?"
