C49 I'll be Your Enemy!!

Qin Lang averted his eyes, politely refraining from looking any further.

"Did you hear? Zhao Qiao has gone abroad," Chen Xixi continued. "Her family paid for her bail and pulled some strings to get her into a university overseas. The Zhao family was embarrassed by her and whisked her away in the dead of night."

Gu Zhiwei finally found her lighter and shielded the flame with her hand, taking a shallow drag on her cigarette.

The smoke curled around her as the cigarette lit, her face obscured by the haze, looking exceptionally beautiful.

It was Qin Lang's first time seeing Gu Zhiwei dressed down like this.

Gone was her usual polished and seductive look. Now, bare-faced and casual, her porcelain complexion was mostly hidden beneath a cap, leaving only a glimpse of her slender, swan-like neck, which was strikingly sensual.

Feeling his gaze, Zhiwei glanced at him with a cool detachment, exhaling a stream of smoke. "Oh."

Her tone was neutral, tinged with a hint of irritation.

Clearly, she was responding to Xixi's comment, yet Qin Lang felt his ears burn with embarrassment.

He shifted his gaze, searching for a chance to speak, but Xixi beat him to it. "It's for the best that she's gone! No more clinging to you like a rabid dog."

She then shot Qin Lang a fierce look. "And you, don't just stand there. I remember all too well what you said and did in the past!"

Qin Lang's expression tensed, and he glanced at Gu Zhiwei, feeling awkward.

He had indeed sided with Gu Ruoshan and Zhao Qiao, saying many harsh things when he had misunderstood Zhiwei.

"I'm sorry," he murmured, his face turning a deep shade of red from embarrassment.

Leaning against the banyan tree, Zhiwei snuffed out her cigarette and tossed it expertly into a nearby trash can.

Her voice, slightly raspy from the smoke, carried a firm resolve. "Putting your all into the competition is more meaningful than any apology."

Turning to Xixi, she added, "Let's close the chapter on Zhao Qiao. There's no need to bring her up again."

Just the mention of that name made her feel nauseated.

Chen Xixi playfully stuck out her tongue, fanning herself as she deftly shifted the conversation. "It's so stuffy. Can you believe it's still this hot in October?"

"How about some milk tea?" Gu Zhiwei offered with a lazy glance in her direction. "My treat."

Right at the school's entrance was a street bustling with snack shops, offering an array of tasty treats.

Without hesitation, Chen Xixi followed Gu Zhiwei toward the milk tea shop, with Qin Lang trailing behind them, his backpack in tow.

"I'll have a Passionfruit Pineapple tea!" Chen Xixi announced to the staff as soon as she entered the shop.

Leaning casually against the counter, Gu Zhiwei threw a languid look over her shoulder at Qin Lang. "What about you? What will you have?"

In the glow of the lights, her brown eyes, peeking out from under her cap, were both cool and mischievous.

Qin Lang felt his heart skip a beat. He pulled up his payment app and stepped forward. "I'm not thirsty. What would you like? I'll cover it."

With a nonchalant arch of her eyebrows, Gu Zhiwei turned and ordered, "A Berry Cheese tea, full sugar, light ice, thanks."

The cashier watched them with a smile, her eyes brimming with admiration. "You two are a couple, aren't you? You're such a perfect match..."

Her words were cut short as the milk tea shop's glass door swung open.

The waiter instinctively looked up, his gaze swept with a flash of astonishment.

Had the shop been graced by the gods today? How else could it be that three such extraordinarily attractive individuals had arrived all at once?

The couple already there was striking enough, but the man who just walked in, dressed in a crisp white shirt, was breathtaking!

"Welcome, sir. What would you like to drink? Please feel free to join the queue and then place your order," the waiter greeted the newcomer.

Gu Zhiwei turned her attention to the man at the door, her lips curving into a slow, intrigued smile.
