C7 The Gu Family!
The phone's sudden ring snapped her back to reality, and with a steely expression, she strode to the bedside table to pick up her cell phone, her face hardening as she did so. The screen revealed a stern visage, hair meticulously combed, an oval face with slender, phoenix-shaped eyes, and thin lips that easily conveyed a sense of severity.
"Fairy Bloom, someone is shelling out a hefty sum to dig up dirt on you," Lo Wen stated flatly. "They've put up a hundred million."
Interest sparked in Gu Zhiwei's eyes as she arched an eyebrow. "Who's splashing out that kind of cash?"
Lo Wen shook her head. "I don't know. Oracle Pavilion never inquires about the buyer's identity. But rest assured, I've turned them down."
Oracle Pavilion, a name that sent shivers down the spines of many across the globe, was the premier hacker organization, home to the world's most formidable hacking talents. They could infiltrate any system, leaving no firewall intact once they made their move. The enigmatic Lord Jie was the mastermind behind it all, his true face and identity a mystery to all. His voice was the only trace of him known to the members of the Oracle Pavilion.
Lo Wen managed Oracle Pavilion's business dealings, while Gu Zhiwei, known within the organization as Fairy Bloom, was one of its skilled members. She had recently completed a mission with a minor hiccup that likely tipped off the opposition.
"Just be careful," Lo Wen advised. "Lay low and avoid taking on any new missions for the time being. I'll remove your name from the active roster until this blows over."
"Thanks," Gu Zhiwei replied with a defiant smirk. "Next time we meet, strawberry pudding is on me."
With an impassive face, Lo Wen ended the call.
Gu Zhiwei nonchalantly tossed her phone onto the bed and slipped off her bathrobe, revealing her exquisitely sculpted, alabaster figure. Her delicate frame and shoulder blades resembled the wings of a butterfly poised for flight, bewitching yet not overtly coquettish. The dip of her waist was pronounced, adorned near the tailbone with a rose tattoo.
Upon closer inspection, one could notice an unsightly scar hidden beneath the rose tattoo.
Gu Zhiwei's memories seemed to drift back to a distant past. She emotionlessly slipped into her nightgown, her eyes shrouded in a layer of frost, exuding a sinister and icy aura.
No one knew what Gu Zhiwei had endured over the years since her upbringing in the countryside.
The following morning, in the Gu family villa's dining room.
Gu Tingchuan took his place at the head of the table, while Lin Li, seated beside him, was serving him porridge. Gu Ruoshan thoughtfully placed freshly squeezed soy milk within his reach.
Gu Tingchuan gazed at her approvingly, his eyes warm. "Ruoshan, you're starting your junior year at university today, right?"
"Yes," Gu Ruoshan replied softly. "That's why I need to get to school early to register, and I have a speech to deliver this afternoon. I'll be speaking on stage."
Lin Li interjected with pride, "Ruoshan is speaking as a representative of the outstanding students. I even caught her practicing her speech last night. She's such a hard worker."
Hearing this, Gu Tingchuan's satisfaction grew.
Gu Ruoshan was dutiful and understanding, excelling in her studies with a gentle nature.
But when it came to Gu Zhiwei, that rebellious and unfilial daughter, just the thought of her made him seethe with anger!
Gu Ruoshan glanced up, reading his mood, and suggested softly, "Dad, my birthday is tomorrow. How about we invite Zhiwei home for a meal? It's been so long since I've seen her."
Gu Tingchuan's eyebrows shot up. "Invite her back for what? She just makes me angry!"
