The graduation ceremony ended twenty minutes ago with almost every one of the grandaunts passing out with a first-class degree.
Somewhere proud that they got good remarks as they graduate, some couldn’t wait for the ceremony to finish so that they can get their asses out of there while the rest were just there for the fun of it.
When Cade went up the stage to grab his degree, he had this ear-to-ear grin plastered on his face as he took a picture with the chancellor that was handing out the degrees.
His eyes captured his parents and annoying little brother and he wriggled his brows when he was getting off the stage with his degree in hand.
His messy hair was covered by the graduation cap on his head, he was clothed in a long royal blue graduation gown along with his other coursemates. Underneath the gown was a cream-colored t-shirt that is neatly tucked into black slacks and a pair of black shoes.
After the ceremony ended with all the grandaunts gathering together to take a group picture as they throw their caps up in the air, each of them went to their respective families that came for the ceremony.
Some went to greet the other family and some already started leaving the venue.
The brown hair man was talking to one of his coursemates when the annoying voice of his younger brother says from behind him.
“Hey, what’s up man?” a smile instantly formed on his lips.
He said goodbyes to his course mate and turned around to look at Dimitri was wearing casual clothing with his arms crossed over his chest and a huge grin on his face.
He held his arms out and Dimitri went in his embrace and they pat each other’s back quite aggressively like they do every time they greet each other.
“Congrats big brother,” he said with a grin and let go of the hug so that he could see his older brother's face that held a smug look.
“Yeah, thank you Dimitri” he roughens his hair which earned a groan from Dimitri and him swatting his older brother’s hand away from his neatly gelled hair.
“I am no kid” he pouted and threw him a glare.
“Still my kid brother” he comments and Dimitri replied with his tongue sticking out.
“Behave yourself, Miguel, we are outside,” Donald said from behind him and went to hug Cade.
“It's okay to be playful with your brother, okay?” Patricia said from behind Dimitri and he turned to hug her.
“Congratulations son, you did well with all the honors you graduated with today” he patted his son’s back and looked at him proudly with a smile on his lips.
“Thank you, dad, mum” he went to hug his mum and planted a kiss on her cheek and she hugged her son lovingly.
“Congrats my baby boy” they pull away from the hug and she rests her palms on his cheeks then gave them both a small pinch which earned a groan from Cade and him trying to pull his face from his mother’s hold.
“Mum, I am not a kid anymore and we are outside for CHRIST’s sake” he whispered the last part and Patricia just rolls her eyes and hugged him again, which he accepted.
“I am not going anywhere mum, I am just graduating college,” Cade said when his mum showed no sign of letting him go.
“My love, we would see him at home, don’t be like this” Donald whispered in her ear and took her from Cade’s embrace.
“Oh please, I am the only woman in your midst, I need some love” she pouted and crossed her arms.
“Mum, I will always show you so much love,” Dimitri said from behind her and hugged her.
So did Cade and Donald who shrugged his sons from his wife so that he can give her a whole hug and a kiss.
“Your display of affection always leaves the house with you” they heard a feminine voice say from behind Cade so they all turned to where the voice was coming from to see Sofia De Leon.
She was wearing a blue flare gown that reaches mid-thigh, with a pair of gold stilettos, a small gold purse in her hand, and her black hair up in a messy bun.
She walked up to them and gave her Aunty and Uncle a big hug then Cade and she turned to look at Dimitri who had a smug look on his face as he looks at her.
“Don’t even think of it, Miguel” she rolled her eyes and he laughed.
“I wasn’t expecting anything,” he told her and she ignored him then started talking to Cade who told her a joke that made her laugh out loud.
“Caleb said he wouldn’t be able to come because he was caught up with some things but he will be coming for dinner later today” she informed Patricia and she nods her head in acknowledgment.
“At least he is coming,” she said.
“Do you still need to hang out with your friends or you will be coming home with us now?” Donald asked.
“Dad, you know that I do-”
“Hey baby” a voice from behind Dimitri interrupted what Cade was about to say.
A smile suddenly made itself known on Dimitri’s face as her arms were wrapped around his torso.
He held her hands, released her hold on him then turned around to look at her and brought her in for a hug.
“I missed you” he whispered in her ears and she giggled then they let go of the hug and he placed a kiss on her lips and hugged her again.
“Hey, Pat, Don” she greets his parents with a smile on her face and a small wave.
“I would love my name in full, thanks… how are you dear?” Patricia went for a hug and she responded by hugging her back.
Donald just gave her a light wave and a small smile.
Sofia didn’t bother looking in her direction while Cade being himself gave her a grin.
She went to hug him and he just pats her back and released her hold around his torso.
“Where is Aiden? He didn’t come yet?” Sofia asked trying not to look in Daniella’s direction and at the same time trying not to blush at just mentioning his name.
“He went to see his nona, she requested for his immediate presence so he left yesterday” Cade replied and she pouted.
“Don’t worry, your boyfriend will come to sweep you off your feet soon” Dimitri said and she glared at him.
Patricia, not wanting to scold the adults that choose to act like kids, took Sofia who was about to smack Dimitri at the back of his head by her wrist, entwined her fingers with her husband’s finger, and walked in the direction of their car.
“Are they following us?” she asked Sofia.
“I guess” she replied dryly.
“How is Liliana? How is she holding up? I might be the last person she wants to see at the moment but I am worried about her” she chuckled lightly.
“Aunty, I doubt it… for your question, she is good and the treatments are working this time, I was even told that an investor interested in treating rare diseases volunteered to pay up the bills and any other expenses that would be required for her treatments.” She explained.
When they got to the car, Donald opened the passenger seat for his wife and closed the door while Sofia settled in the back seat. Donald went to the driver’s seat and started the car.
“They will meet us home,” he told his wife and blew her a kiss which prompted a small blush on her cheeks.
Ignoring his cheekiness, she fastened her seatbelts and told Sofia to do so then made sure her husband too had his fastened.
“So, someone is footing the bill for all treatment?” she asked when they were already on the road.
“Yes, and I don’t know the person… I did ask to know who the person was but I was told that the person wanted to be anomalous” she respond with a shrug and pulled out her phone to check for messages.
Patricia let out a sigh and her husband placed his hand over hers then gave it a comforting squeeze while his eyes were set on the road. She was grateful he did because she needed it.
“I wish she would just let me take care of it, like come on, she has a sister who is well to do and who wouldn’t mind sending as much as she needs to pay for her bills… I am not complaining” she half-yelled the last part.
“Babe, be chill” Donald softly told her then proceed to caress her hand that was in his.
“I am sorry but I’m just worried and sad that she doesn’t want anything to do with me… she wouldn’t even let me come see her.” She complained and let out a frustrated sigh.
“Look at the bright side, someone is paying for it and she is allowing it, we can just hope that they would be able to come up with a great solution to her aliment… it will be good darling” Donald cooed and she let out a deep breath then closed her eyes and lay her head back on the headrest.
“Hope she is really, really good?” she asked after a moment.
“Yes, she is and I understand how you feel about it but I am certain that she has a soft spot for you, aunty,” Sofia told her and put her phone away.
“You think so?” Patricia turned to look at her and Sofia held a smile on her lips then nod her head.
“I know so” she answered.
Patricia nodded then went back to rest her head on the headrest.
