C6 Chapter 6

Vanessa felt her move closer to her and sit down at the edge of the bed.

“you don’t have to pretend. I know you are not sleeping” she said and took one of her leg in her arm, she place a small bowl with hot water and massage her legs gently with a small towel

“i told you not to walk all the time and take the bus once in a while, you wouldn't listen. If anything happen to you then how will you be able to walk later?" She said and finish doing that then applied some pain reliever cream on them. Vienna stood up suddenly and collect the cream from her hand.

“you should also apply some on your legs” she said and bent down to reach her legs.

“what are you doing?’ Vanessa said and move her legs away but Vienna pull them back to herself.

“do you think I don’t know that you go to school to and fro ok foot everyday? How do you except me as your elder sister to take a bus while you walk” she said countering her words as she close the lid of the cream and face her.

“listen carefully, you are my responsibility, I know you don’t like it but am to take care of you. You don’t have to do things like what you tried today ever again. What if something had happened to you”

“Am not like you, am quite strong” she reply stubbornly.

“i know you want to help but you are still a high school student”

“Am eighteen, am an adult” she cuts in.

“yes, but until you get admitted into the university, you are still a teenager to me and I promise you that I will make sure to get the money needed for you to write your final exams and mom’s operation”

“You are not going to sell yourself are you?” Vanessa inquire

“No idiot I would never do that” she said and hugged her.

“don’t hug me like a child. I need to sleep now so I can leave early tomorrow” Vanessa said and push her off. Then she lay down quietly to sleep. Vienna smiled and also lie down beside her and hugged her to sleep.

Vienna turned and turned in bed till almost two in the morning. She just promised her sister to take care of everything without having any means of doing so. Her mind went back to her meeting with Kellie, Alan's secretary

Every of her needs will be meant and her dad might be freed from prison if she asked for it. It is a very tempting offer for her and also, she will be able to get money to help Nisan for all his help since three years” she thought and turned again.

“and come to think of it, is not like she will have to marry him just pretend to want to” she thought and turn again.

“but then, what about all that she went through with her family after Alan broke off their engagement and how her father has to suffer in the cold prison for three years and also how will she explain it to Vanessa” she thought again and shake her head.

“Vienna, can you please stop turning around every second. The bed is small enough as it is” Vanessa complained sleepily.

“am sorry go back to sleep” she said and close her eyes to force herself to sleep.

After another few days, Vienna is still not able to gather enough money for her mother’s surgery or raise money to send Vanessa back to school after buying for the transfer and debts they are owning.

Nisan was able to raise 1.5million with some money Vienna herself was able to borrow, they have just about two million which is nothing compare to the money they need. Vienna decide to inform them about Alan’s offer believing it is the last resort for her.

“he wants you to act like his fiancee? With all that benefit? No, am against it. I don’t think you should do it. No matter how desperate we are. It might even be another trap to humiliate you” Vanessa rejected immediately she told her.

“Nisan, what do you say?” Vienna turn to him feeling discouraged with Vanessa's answer. Nisan was silent for another five seconds before answering her.

“i don’t know what to say exactly this is about you, Its really a good offer but you also told me about the things he did when you still love him and even after what happened to your family none of his family member helped you. What if they just need someone they will be able to control and use anyhow” Nisan said and Vienna nod at their words.

“then I will have to make use of another resort, Dad” she thought and went to meet her father at the prison. She was given five minutes to speak.

“Vienna, how is your mother and sister?” her father asked. Vienna explained everything going on with them briefly to him immediately.

“how is she right now? Have you gone to meet my sister? Am sure she will help” he said anxiously and went in to a fist of coughs.

“dad, are you alright? Are they maltreating you in here?” Miner does not want his daughter to know how much he Is actually suffering in the prison so he just smiled and lied that it is fine.

“your sister refuse to help at all. She does not even want to see us, everyone I thought will help just send us out” she answered after being reassured by her father that he is okay.

“then there is only one thing, go meet grandfather Clinton, am sure he will help” he suggested. Vienna felt helpless hearing the Clinton name again.

She actually came to her father because she does not want the Clinton’s help but it seems like there is no other choice, going to Alan's grandfather means he will also get to know about it.
