C7 Chapter 7

There are just about three days and there is no way she can get that huge amount of money. She bade her father bye and left to go meet Nisan and explain the situation to him when she receive a call from the hospital.

She rush there thinking it was because of her mother but getting there, she saw that it was Vanessa. She got into an accident while trying to give fliers to people on the road. Luckily it was a minor injury.

After checking up on her to see that she was okay she went to meet the doctor to check about her mother’s condition.

“i told you that has the day goes by the rate of success for her surgery will also reduce gradually but I haven't heard anything from you since you bought her here.

When are you going to bring the money so we can start and also you need to pay for her hospital bed and other things the bills are seriously piling up” the doctor said annoyed with her.

“am very sorry, I will get the money very soon” she said more like trying to convince herself. She walk away from the doctor and sat down then she unconsciously dial the number Alan’s secretary gave her.

Vienna place the phone on her ear and wait for her to pick. She remember how she went back to ask the cafe owner if he saw any business card on one of the tables and how he handed it over to her. She heard a beep and realized that the call has been picked.

“hello” she heard her say, Vienna cleared her throat before responding

“hello, this is Vienna Miner. Am calling you about the offer you made the other day, is it still valid?” she asked with a mixed mind.

“yes, Do you agree”

“i agree with whatever it is but first, can I get the money needed for my mum’s surgery and for my sister?”

“sure you can. I will take care of that immediately” Kellie replied and cut the call.

“sir, miss Vienna just called, She agrees and want the money for her mother and sister right away” she told Alan who was sitting with his back facing her.

“just as I thought, no one can refuse that kind of offer” Alan said and smiled briefly. Kellie bow her head slightly before exiting from the room. Immediately she left, Alan pick his phone to call someone.

“you are sure I will be able to make this work in three months time right?” he asked to confirm again and the voice from the other end reassured him. Alan drop the call with a smile.

“He needs just three months” he thought with a smirk.

After few minutes, Vienna received an alert on her phone. She was surprised by how fast it is, She quickly went to the hospital cashier office and paid for her mother’s surgery including all her bills with Vanessa’s. then she head to the doctor’s office to discuss more, her mother’s surgery was schedule for the next day. Then she went back home with Vanessa.

“where did you get the money to take care of my hospital bills? Did you take money from the little we were able to gather?” Vanessa asked with guilty.

“no, you don’t need to worry about it. And also I will take care of your school bills very soon so you better start reading for your final exams and also quit every part time job you have and just concentrate on your studies” she replied instead and rest her head on the arm of the chair.

“what are saying? Where did you get money from?” she asked.

“let me guess, Alan?” she asked again and when she still receive a silent answer she knew that she guess right.

“you really collect money from him? But…”

“trust me on this okay, I know what am doing. And beside its not marriage with him just to pretend to want to marry him for a short period of three months”

“but what if something goes wrong and you get stuck there it always happen in movies” Vanessa said worried.

“look Vanessa, nothing will go wrong and this is real life not some kind of fiction movie”

“but are you sure you don’t have feelings for him anymore?”

“what are you saying of course not, not after what he did”

“why don’t I believe you. Remember back then when you came home crying that you will break off your engagement but it took a message from him for you to forget about what he did”

“then I was young and infatuated by him. But now it different really”

“okay fine, then what about Nisan, he has been with us helping us and doing everything he could for us, we cant let him down”

“don’t worry, I wont let him down and also I can get some money to help him start up something” she answered.

“so how will you tell him?”

“with my mouth how else” she said and they laugh silently.

“just be careful” Vanessa said before going inside. Then Vienna received a message from Kellie to meet. She got up immediately to go meet her.

She arrive at the cafe in a short while and Kellie was already waiting there. She went over to her and sat down.

“Mrs Kellie, you are here already, am sorry for being late” she apologized.

“its miss, am not married yet. But you are not late I just got here” she replied.

“oh am sorry” she quickly apologized.

“no offense taken. So I will tell you the things you need to know now and you will have to sign this” she said and bought a printed paper out.

“first, you must not tell Mr Clinton about my meeting with you or any of this, then your family will be allowed to stay in one of Mr Alan’s house for the period of three months, You will just need to act like his fiancee on different occasions. Like when you have to go out as a couple in public and especially in front of the whole family. Just some simple duties in the company. The main reason I contact you is that you must tell Mr Clinton that you don’t want to get married to him until after a period of three months” she explained.

“can I ask some questions before signing” she requested.

“yes go ahead”

“why did he need to do this? I mean why the need to get married?” she asked.

“i understand your question. Its a kind of rule in the Clinton family. The heir should get married before taking over. It was set down for a very long time and no one wants to disobey it except from Mr Alan. But now that his position is threaten, then he have to get a woman to protect it because the matriarch can help to keep it by taking over for a while’ she explained.

“no wonder he doesn't want to get married because whoever he marries has a right to all his inheritance” Vienna said to herself.

“the real owner of Clinton’s empire is a woman, I guess that’s why”

“then why is Alan’s father not taking over in his stead?”

“Mr Alan’s grandfather dismissed him as an heir” she simply said. Vienna nodded her head.

“by any chance, is it also possible for Karen to take over fully?”

“yes. If that’s all then please sign now” she said and Vienna signed it without looking at it.

“on Monday, a car will come to pick you and your sister up that is if you want your sister to go with you and from there you will meet with the entire family then. That’s when the three months starts” she told her and pick the signed paper then she left. Vienna wait to finish her drink before she also left.

It was even more simple than she thought and there is no loss on her part she will just take it as one of her part time job. Today is Saturday so that's next tomorrow.

little did she know that things might not go as excepted for her.
