C8 Chapter 8

Chapter eight: The favor

Mason was going to be discharged from the hospital today, so i got up early and headed straight to the hospital. After arriving, i went to the administrative department to settle Mason's bills before going to his room, when i arrived, Mason was already done packing his stuffs and was getting ready to leave the hospital.

"I've settled the bills, now you're free to go,so how are you feeling right now." I asked, collecting the heavy bag containing his stuffs.

"Am feeling very happy and relieved to be able to finally move on with my life, it feels really good and am truly grateful for all the help and support you've shown me". Mason rejoiced.

"Don't mention, remember i owe you a lot and am just trying to repay the favor, also remember, between brothers, there is no such things as 'sorry' or 'thank you".Mason continued.

"Well since i can't convince you to back out then all i can say is welcome aboard. i replied, the door opened revealing a nurse. "

'' Mr mason, the doctor wants to see you before you leave, have a good day". she

announced before exiting the room.

"I'll wait for you outside". I offered giving him a pat on his back before leaving the room.

The drive to my new house was a long one, we talked about so many things like issues concerning our lives and the society at large. After two hours drive, we finally arrived. mason started packing his luggage's into the house and i left to make a phone call.

''Hello, i need one last favour '' .i requested.

THE NEXT DAY

'' Daddy, daddy.....'' Catherine called as she began to run around the house ' I didn't understand where I was exactly, I was happy to see the face of my little angel again, I just stood in awe unable to move, I didn't know if I was dreaming or not, but all i knew was that I never wanted It to end.

'' Jay.'' Gabriella called as she stepped out of the kitchen.

''Yea.... Yes'. I managed to reply .

The" postman dropped by today, he gave me a mail which was for you so i kept it since you weren't up yet .'' she said handing the mail over to me i looked at the mail and it was covered with blood with the title, ''Death''. I immediately threw the mail on the floor and as i looked up again, i couldn't find anyone not even Catherine whom i had seen earlier.

Then, in a twinkle of an eye i suddenly appeared in front of a burning house in the wood, people were trying to put out the fire,i didn't understand what was going on i tried asking but it was as if no one could see or hear me i turned and looked it was Catherine, she was sitting in front of the burning house wearing her favourite floral white gown, but this time it was all covered in blood.

"Ca.....Catherine, sweety please get away from the fire ". I managed to say as I began to run towards where she was seated to save her from the fire, but before i could get there, she stood up from where she was seated

''Why didn't you save us '' she asked as she turned and entered into the burning house and before i could get there there was a big explosion '' noooo!'' i shouted as i fell on my knees, not again .... Not again.'' I shouted with tears in my eyes

"Jay''. i heard the voice calling my name, i woke up, i was sweating all over .

''Are you alright Jay , you're sweating so much. ''Mason asked.

''Am fine, i just had a nightmare about Gabriella and Catherine, i watched them die for the second time,and even if It was just a dream, it felt so real'' . i explained as i stood up from the bed i went over to the refrigerator and took a bottle of water, after taking a sip, I felt more relaxed.

"You don't have to keep beating yourself up for this, it wasn't your fault". Mason said trying to console me.

"That's just the problem, it is my fault, if i didn't get myself involved in shady business in the first place, then they will still be alive right now, and you know what the worst part of it that after their funeral, I didn't have the guts to visit their graves, not until am done avenging their deaths." I replied cleaning the tears from my eyes.

"I know that you are going to get the justice you truly deserve sooner or later but for now, you just have to stay strong". Mason said. "Anyways, i need to go out for a bit, you know to do a little exercise since i just got out of the hospital, i will see you later".

"See you". I waved after him.

Few minutes after Mason left, there was a knock at the door.

"Did you forget to take anything". I asked as i opened the door, but to my greatest surprise, it wasn't Mason, it was a guy wearing a black leather jacket, a black trousers, black sneakers and a black eye glass, with his black motorbike parked in front of my yard.

"Who are you?". I asked looking at the man standing in front of me.

"My name is Rowen Driscoll and i was sent by Mr Harvey Elrod." He introduced himself.

FlashBack

Twelve years ago

La Marie federal prison.

"Today, were finally going to put an end to that bastard, Harvey Elrod who's with me". Cadel shouted as the other prisoners began to hail him.

"Hey pretty boy, so are you in or not". Cadel asked.

"No, am not interested in getting blood stains on my hands". I replied.

"Alright then, just stay out of our way or else......". Cadel threatened as he gave the sign of a throat being cut, i understood that, so i stayed away as far as possible from him.

That night, the plans of killing Harvey was already in motion, they paid the guards off and he left. As soon as the guards left, they surrounded Harvey as was about to kill him, when some other powerful inmate from the other cell came to protect Harvey. Cadel's men were out numbered so they choose to retreat.

I had earlier tipped him off about the threat to his life cause i felt that he didn't do anything wrong to anyone and he didn't deserve to die, from that day onward, he promised me that as soon as he got out of prison, he would repay my kindness.
