C1 Hsiang Sibai You will Definitely Suffer Retribution!!
"She's quite frail. She should stay in the hospital for three days for observation before being discharged. Afterward, she needs to avoid cold water and overexertion, and rest for a month," a voice said as the anesthesia began to wear off. Su Ke, still groggy, heard someone speaking.
She opened her eyes to see the pristine white ceiling of the hospital room, the scent of disinfectant filling her nostrils. Beside her stood a young man.
He was tall, nearly 6'3", with an air of aloofness that warned others to keep their distance, yet his face was strikingly handsome. His features seemed meticulously crafted, with thin lips pressed tightly together, accentuating his sharply defined jawline. His captivating eyes, often described as alluring, now glinted with a cold light, matching the impression he usually left on people.
Cold-hearted, indifferent.
Such looks and demeanor were unmatched in the entire city.
This was Hsiang Sibai, heir to Hsiang's Group, and for five consecutive years, he had been voted the man most women in the city wanted to marry.
Su Ke trembled all over as memories flooded back. Her eyes quickly filled with tears, glaring fiercely at Hsiang Sibai.
Earlier that morning, after she once again vomited her breakfast due to nausea, Hsiang Sibai had brought her to the hospital, his brow furrowed with concern.
After a series of tests, she was still basking in the joy of her pregnancy when Hsiang Sibai unceremoniously had her wheeled into the operating room. The man before her had taken their child’s life with his own hands.
Su Ke yanked the needle from her arm and threw back the covers, attempting to get out of bed. The pain in her abdomen caused her to collapse by the bedside as soon as she took a step. Just as she tried to stand again, Hsiang Sibai grabbed her hand and pushed her back onto the bed.
“What’s gotten into you?” Hsiang Sibai asked coldly.
“Smack—”
The sharp sound of a slap echoed as Su Ke struck Hsiang Sibai across the face. She raised her arm to hit him again, but he caught her wrist tightly.
“Hsiang Sibai!” she screamed, her voice raw. “You’ll pay for this!”
Hsiang Sibai let out a derisive snort and released her arm.
“Su Ke, I haven’t even confronted you about secretly stopping your birth control.”
“Remember your place.”
His words cut into her like knives.
“I gave you money to pay off your father’s gambling debts, made you the leading lady, and this is how you repay me?”
The door slammed shut with a loud bang as Hsiang Sibai instructed those outside.
“Discharge her in three days. Give her two million and the house in Imperial Gardens.”
"Alright, sir."
The sound of Sibai's footsteps gradually faded away as Su Ke lay curled up on the hospital bed, eyes closed, feeling utterly hopeless.
She wasn't sure how much time had passed when two nurses came in. They carefully re-dressed the needle marks on her hand and inserted a new IV.
"Wasn't that the CEO of Hsiang's Group who just left? The one who's always in the financial news?" one young nurse whispered, thinking Su Ke was asleep.
"Isn't there a rumor that Su Ke is being kept by someone? Turns out it's Hsiang Sibai!" The gossip made the nurses' voices rise a little.
"Come on, the entertainment world is a mess. There's no way a big shot like him would be serious about Su Ke. See, even if there's a baby, it has to be taken care of," the nurse added with a giggle as they left the room.
Su Ke buried her face in the pillow, biting her lip hard.
Three years ago, when her gambling-addicted father died of alcohol poisoning, leaving her with massive debts, it was Sibai who saved her. He had always treated her well, buying her beautiful clothes and jewelry. When she expressed her love for acting, he invested in films to make her the leading lady.
Su Ke believed Sibai had feelings for her, even though she knew he only kept her around because she reminded him of someone else he once loved.
She deceived herself into believing this affection could last, but when she felt the child slip away from her body, she had to admit that a lie is still a lie. How could a stand-in ever hope to win Hsiang Sibai's true heart?
The hospital room door opened, and a young man who looked like a doctor walked in.
"I heard from the nurse that you're not eating," he said. "If you want to have kids in the future, you need to stop being stubborn."
Su Ke ignored his words.
"My name is Chen Yifeng. I'm the director of this private hospital and a friend of Hsiang Sibai."
"Sibai has already instructed that no one will know about your miscarriage."
"You can continue being your pristine celebrity self."
Chen Yifeng's words dripped with malice that couldn't be ignored.
"Get out."
Su Ke spat out the word, and Chen Yifeng chuckled darkly.
"Ha."
His voice slithered like a snake from the depths, brushing against her skin and making her shiver.
"Who are you putting on this show for now?"
"You know, Hsiang Sibai's first love has come back, right?"
