C10 Her Forehead Mole Is Fake!
Su Ke thought back to those days. Even after all this time, the sadness lingered.
Ye Yajing was taken in by the Ye family, who reportedly treated her well, raising her in comfort. Meanwhile, Su Ke grew up with Liang Suqin and Su Qiang, facing many challenges along the way.
"Last year, Ye Yajing entered the industry too. Because she resembles me a bit, the company branded her as 'Little Su Ke,' riding on my popularity," Su Ke said. "I figured, since we go way back, I wouldn't hold it against her."
"Oh, right," Su Ke suddenly remembered, "the mole on her forehead was added to mimic mine. She didn’t have it as a child."
Qin Liang listened, a hint of amusement in his eyes. Everyone knew the Shen family found Shen Siyi because of a similar mole. But now Su Ke was saying Ye Yajing's was fake.
Qin Liang studied Su Ke closely. He had never met Mrs. Shen, who had been bedridden for years. He had only seen Shen Cong and his two sons, and Su Ke didn't resemble them.
Qin Liang shook his head. Shen Siming and Shen Sijing were no fools; they couldn't have mistaken the Shen daughter. Yet, he made a mental note. His instincts told him the Shen family’s story was more complicated than it seemed.
The night was calm, and a gentle breeze stirred ripples across the river's surface.
Su Ke was sleeping soundly with a blanket wrapped around her, while Qin Liang carefully drove home.
Whatever Qin Liang said to Mrs. Zhang worked wonders because, for the next month, Mrs. Zhang was glued to Su Ke's side. She wouldn't let her walk barefoot, get out of bed, or drink cold water. Even if Su Ke talked a bit too much, Mrs. Zhang would start her gentle nagging—
"Miss, talking too much can make your teeth loose when you're older."
Su Ke once thought about escaping through the window, but just as she reached it, Qin Liang pulled her back.
"Protest!" Su Ke exclaimed, raising her hand high.
"Protest denied," Qin Liang replied, tucking her back into bed and adjusting the covers.
"I'm not sick! Why do I have to stay in bed all day? If this keeps up, I could hatch a chick from an egg!" Su Ke was exasperated.
"Do you know that recovery after childbirth is important, and you need to take good care of yourself?" Qin Liang said sternly, unyielding when it came to health matters.
"I feel fine," Su Ke argued, but lost her confidence under Qin Liang's intense gaze. "But I can't just stay home like this!"
"My show is halfway through filming, and the whole crew is waiting for me!" Su Ke remembered a legitimate reason.
"That show, 'Dreamlike Command'?" Qin Liang asked, and Su Ke nodded.
"Your agent called two weeks ago. I've already arranged for your leave. I'll cover any lost wages, so just stay put at home."
Feudal! Superstitious! Decayed! Outdated!
Su Ke protested, and the month dragged on like a year.
"Dreamlike Command" quickly resumed production after its leading lady's nightmare-like hiatus ended.
The show is about ancient family feuds, with Su Ke playing a daughter who, despite lacking parental love, uses her wit to marry into a noble family. The plot may be familiar, but it's currently a hot topic. The first half of the story sees the heroine battling her stepmother at home, while the second half has her facing off against concubines in the noble household, determined to fight to the end.
Before Su Ke took her leave, she had just finished filming the pre-wedding scenes. Returning to the set meant new scenes and a fresh start with the story of her life in the noble family.
