C11 She Wanted to Trample Su Ke Under Her Feet Forever!
The new storyline introduced fresh dynamics, and as soon as Su Ke joined the set, she noticed Ye Yajing being the center of attention, chatting sweetly with the director. Su Ke couldn’t be bothered to greet anyone and headed straight to her dressing room.
As she entered, her assistant, Xiaoxiao, greeted her with enthusiasm. "Su, I missed you so much! I couldn’t reach you on the phone, and then Coco told me you took a month off for health reasons. I was worried sick!"
Xiaoxiao had a lively personality and had been with Su since graduating college. She was smart, perceptive, and reliable, which is why Su trusted her completely.
"It was nothing serious, just needed some time off. Sorry to worry you all," Su reassured her.
Looking around, Su didn’t see her manager, Coco, and a knowing look crossed her face. Xiaoxiao noticed and chuckled awkwardly. "Coco said she’s busy today but will catch up with you another time."
Coco was assigned to Su by Hsiang Sibai, and it seemed she had caught wind of some insider news, which made her less attentive lately. Su just smiled and didn’t comment, sitting down to play on her phone while waiting for her styling session.
An hour passed as Su memorized 200 vocabulary words, yet there was still no sign of the stylist. From outside, Xiaoxiao’s voice could be heard, "Her scenes are scheduled for the afternoon. Shouldn't you prioritize the lead actress’s makeup? Let’s see who the director blames when filming starts!"
Before Xiaoxiao could finish, Su stepped out of the room. Xiaoxiao’s eyes were red, and she hurried over as soon as she saw Su.
"Coco, you go on in. I'll handle things here."
Su Ke ignored the suggestion and turned to find the crew member. "Are we not filming today?" she asked calmly. "If not, I'll just head out."
The crew member hesitated but blocked Su Ke from leaving. "I'm sorry, Miss Su."
A deliberately sweet voice chimed in, and Su Ke didn't need to look up to know who it was. Yajing, decked out in full makeup and jewelry, strutted over like a peacock.
"It's my first day on set," Yajing said, her voice dripping with feigned innocence. "The stylist was worried I couldn't manage, so they helped me first. Don't be upset."
"Xiao Liu, hurry and help Miss Su with her styling," Yajing instructed, adjusting the pin in her hair with a smug air, treating the stylist like her personal servant.
Seeing Su Ke's face change slightly, Yajing felt a surge of satisfaction. She had disliked Su Ke for a long time. Back in the orphanage, everyone adored Su Ke. Whenever well-off families came to adopt, the director always sent Su Ke out first. Yajing finally left with the Ye family and lived a life of luxury, only to see Su Ke shining on screen. Ignoring her family's advice, she entered the entertainment industry, but because of Hsiang Sibai, Su Ke was always out of her reach.
Who could have predicted that the person now standing behind Su Ke would become someone she relied on? Thinking about this, Ye Yajing felt extremely pleased. She wanted to keep Su Ke under her thumb forever, ensuring she could never rise above and would always have to look up to her.
Su Ke's lips curled into a forced smile as she walked away with the stylist, leaving Ye Yajing behind. For Su Ke, focusing on acting and working hard was far more important than arguing over trivial matters with petty people. This was a principle she firmly believed in.
Just as her makeup was halfway done, the scriptwriter walked in. "Su Ke, I need to talk to you about some changes in your scenes."
