C12 I will Never be Able to Play the Role of the Female Lead!

The screenwriter handed the latest script to Su Ke, who glanced at it and chuckled.

"You've really outdone yourself," Su Ke remarked to the screenwriter. "You've made the leading lady's death seem so 'reasonable.'"

The new script was drastically altered. Shortly after the heroine marries into the marquis's household, she discovers her husband is in love with his charming and patient cousin, who is also a concubine. The heroine's character unravels as she continually makes life difficult for the cousin, ultimately attempting to poison her but accidentally poisoning herself instead.

The heroine's role ends just a tenth of the way into the new script, with the rest focusing on the romance between the male lead and the cousin.

Seeing the screenwriter's troubled and embarrassed expression, Su Ke chose not to say more, knowing the writer was simply following orders.

Su Ke stopped the stylist from continuing her work, holding the script as she prepared to confront the director.

As she opened the door, she saw Hsiang Sibai and his agent, Coco, standing next to Ye Yajing. Ye Yajing was clinging to Hsiang Sibai's arm, playfully swaying it back and forth. Hsiang Sibai smiled indulgently at her, but when he looked up and saw Su Ke nearby, his eyes narrowed slightly. His gaze was intense and inscrutable, hiding a storm of emotions. He didn't even hear Ye Yajing speaking to him.

Su Ke and Hsiang Sibai locked eyes for a few seconds, noticing Ye Yajing glancing over as well, which quickly dampened Su Ke's spirits.

Just then, the director approached. "Su Ke, have you looked at the new script? There are a few minor adjustments. You should prepare again."

Su Ke ignored Hsiang Sibai and his group, waving the script at the director. "You call these 'minor adjustments'?"

The director instinctively glanced at Ye Yajing, but Su Ke blocked his view with the script. "Don't look at her, look at me."

"I think you owe me an explanation. We have a contract."

"The contract doesn't say I can't change the script, right?" the director replied, a bit sheepishly.

"Fine." Su Ke laughed in frustration. "In that case, find someone else."

"I can't play this lead role."

With that, Su Ke turned to leave. The director panicked, grabbing her arm and threatening, "We have a contract. If you breach it, you'll have to pay!"

Su Ke turned back, amused by the director's smug expression, thinking he had her cornered.

She tapped the script against the director, then pointed at Hsiang Sibai in the distance. "Ask him. He still owes me two million."

With a smile, she walked away decisively.

"What just happened?" Hsiang Sibai asked Coco in a low voice, frowning as he watched Su Ke leave.

"Uh..." Coco stammered, unable to explain, and kept glancing at Ye Yajing for help.

"Sibai."

Ye Yajing shook his arm, "It's all my fault. I asked the director if I could have a few more lines, and I didn't expect them to give me Miss Su's scenes."

"Maybe Miss Su feels like her scenes were taken," Ye Yajing said, tears welling up. "I'll go talk to the director."

Hsiang Sibai gently patted Ye Yajing, not rejecting her suggestion.

Ye Yajing bit her lip, deciding to take action. "It seems like Miss Su doesn't like me much. Maybe I should go find her, bring her back, and I can leave the crew."

Hsiang Sibai looked down at Ye Yajing quietly, making her a bit uneasy.

"No need," she heard Hsiang Sibai say. "Let's keep this project as it is. You'll get the lead role in the next one."

Ye Yajing was overjoyed at Hsiang Sibai's promise.

"Focus on your acting. The company will assign you a manager who'll arrive tomorrow," Hsiang Sibai said.

"Isn't Coco going to manage me?" Ye Yajing asked, biting her lip.

Hsiang Sibai cast a sharp glance at Coco, making her flinch. Coco quickly lowered her head, worried that her thoughts might be exposed.

"Coco is busy with Su Ke. I'll have someone else manage you."

"I have other matters to attend to, so I'll be leaving. Follow the director's guidance."

Ignoring Ye Yajing's attempt to make him stay, Hsiang Sibai turned and walked out of the filming site.
