C14 What? You Fell in Love with Me?
Watching Sibai leave in a huff, Su Ke felt a wave of satisfaction wash over her. But as the saying goes, "Pride comes before a fall," and her joy was short-lived when a teasing voice broke the silence.
"What’s this? Fallen for me already?"
Su Ke turned, ready to throw a punch at the newcomer. Qin Liang caught her weak attempt in his hand and draped a men's coat over her head.
"Put it on, it's chilly."
"Yes, Mom!" Su Ke retorted, sticking her tongue out at Qin Liang.
Xiaoxiao, who had already absorbed a lot of information that morning, wasn’t surprised by Qin Liang's sudden appearance.
"Xiaoxiao," Su Ke introduced them, "this is Qin Liang, my brother."
Hearing Su Ke introduce him like that, Qin Liang's smile briefly faltered, a hint of sadness flashing across his face before he masked it with a grin. He greeted Xiaoxiao and then ushered them into the car.
"What brings you here?" Su Ke asked, fiddling with her seatbelt.
"Came to check on you. Heard from the crew that our big star Su was throwing a diva fit and refused to perform," Qin Liang said, turning with a mischievous smile.
"Didn't expect to find our diva standing by the roadside looking like a lost puppy."
"Well, I'm doing my good deed for the day, picking you up and taking you home."
Qin Liang's teasing was lighthearted, but it brought out all of Su Ke's frustrations. She grabbed Qin Liang and started recounting the day's events.
"Do you know any good lawyers?" Su Ke asked.
"Why? Planning to 'strike first'?" Qin Liang chuckled, earning a playful swat from Su Ke.
"Of course, I need to be prepared. I don't want them to turn the tables on me."
Qin Liang nodded. "I'll have the company's legal team assist you."
"But speaking of which, where's your agent? Why are you handling this on your own?" Qin Liang inquired.
At the mention of her agent, Su Ke's temper flared. "Probably decided I'm not worth the trouble and jumped ship."
Coco was originally assigned to Su Ke by Hsiang Sibai. Ever since Su Ke signed with Hsiang's Group's agency, Coco had been with her. Su Ke used to think Coco was a bit scheming but competent enough, so she didn't mind. But after today, she realized Coco was no longer someone she could rely on.
Qin Liang offered a few comforting words and then asked, "Where's your contract now? Is it with Shengbai?"
Su Ke nodded. She was currently one of Shengbai's top artists.
Shengbai is an entertainment company under Hsiang's Group, involved in film and TV production and artist management.
"But my contract is up in three months, and we've been discussing renewal."
"Don't renew it," Qin Liang said, a bit annoyed.
"Bullying our girl and still expecting us to renew the contract? Dream on."
Su Ke grinned, "But if I don't renew with Shengbai, no one else will want me!"
Qin Liang shot her a sideways glance. If he weren't driving, he would've playfully knocked her on the head. "Seems like our Xinghuan isn't impressive enough for the great star, Su Ke."
Su Ke was about to retort when Xiaoxiao, who had been silent, suddenly exclaimed, "Xinghuan? Is it that Xinghuan?"
Compared to Xinghuan, which has dominated the entertainment industry for years, Shengbai doesn't quite measure up. Most of the hundreds of movies, TV shows, and web series released each year have Xinghuan Entertainment's backing.
Dizzy from Xiaoxiao's excitement, Su Ke rubbed her forehead. "Let me reintroduce you," she said. "This is Qin Liang, the general manager of Xinghuan Entertainment."
Xiaoxiao's mouth dropped open in surprise, but she wasn't prepared for the even bigger revelation that followed.
"Let me introduce someone too," Qin Liang smirked. "The lady beside you, Miss Su Ke, is the heiress of Xinghuan Entertainment."
That night.
"Miss Shen, I took this photo at lunch today. Take a look." Coco's message came through, and Ye Yajing swiped her phone. In the photo, Hsiang Sibai was holding Su Ke's hand, speaking to her intimately.
I don't mean anything by it, but Young Master Hsiang is your fiancé, and Su Ke trying to seduce him is just shameless.
Coco's messages kept coming in, and Ye Yajing was trembling as she held her phone.
Su Ke, Su Ke, it's all because of that wretched Su Ke.
After Hsiang Sibai met with Su Ke, he called off their engagement ceremony. Ye Yajing had already hinted to everyone about the engagement that night, and Hsiang Sibai's last-minute cancellation turned her from the newly recognized darling of the Shen family into the subject of ridicule.
It was clear that Hsiang Sibai couldn't forget his past with Su Ke, which is why he refused to marry her.
Ye Yajing ran to the Hsiang family in tears, using every trick in the book to get a promise from Mr. Hsiang, who assured her that he would arrange an even grander engagement ceremony in the future.
But Hsiang Sibai kept dodging, claiming he was too busy with work to set a date.
Ye Yajing knew it was all because of Su Ke! Su Ke kept showing up in front of Hsiang Sibai, making him act this way!
Ye Yajing was furious with Su Ke, but then she thought, Su Ke is just an orphan with no power or support. How could she possibly compete with her?
Ye Yajing smiled smugly, picked up her phone, and dialed a number—
"Hey, I've got some big news. Interested?"
In the early hours, news of "Su Ke's Diva Behavior Halts Production" quietly surged online.
Exclusive from Entertainment Insider: Recently, on the set of "Dreamlike Command," Su Ke, unhappy with changes to her scenes, openly threw a fit and threatened to abandon her lead role, leaving the production in chaos. With filming already halfway done, Su Ke's actions have seemingly wasted the crew's hard work.
Crew members also revealed that Su Ke was displeased with the stylist's work on the second lead, Shen Siyi (formerly known as Ye Yajing). Not only did she publicly humiliate Shen Siyi, but she also reiterated her threat to stop filming.
Many night owls surfing the web stumbled upon the news, and the early morning keyboard warriors took up the mantle of 'justice,' harshly criticizing Su Ke and even launching into passionate tirades.
"I've never liked Su Ke. Who does she think she is, acting so high and mighty all the time?"
"I heard she got this role through shady means and doesn't even appreciate it."
"Am I the only one who thinks Su Ke's acting is mediocre? Why does she get such good roles?"
"I knew it! With a face like that, who knows what she's up to behind the scenes!"
"Can we just get rid of these diva actors from the industry?"
"Hey everyone, isn't anyone curious why Ye Yajing changed her name? Can someone fill me in?"
Some fans of Su Ke rushed to manage the crisis, but it seemed like some powerful forces had hired online trolls to spread negativity. In no time, the fans' defenses were completely overshadowed.
By the time Hsiang Sibai learned about the situation the next day and began organizing a public relations response, topics like "Su Ke, Get Out of Showbiz," "Su Ke Acting Like a Diva on Set," "Su Ke Refuses to Perform," "Su Ke Humiliates Shen Siyi," "Ye Yajing Changes Name to Shen Siyi," and "Who is Shen Siyi?" had already dominated the trending lists for several hours.
