C15 Hsiang Sibai What's Wrong with You?!
Su Ke had been in the industry for three years. Right from the start, she landed a role in a New Year blockbuster directed by the renowned director, Ma Yong, playing the lead alongside a cast of seasoned actors. Ma Yong was famous for his ability to bring out the best in his actors, and Su Ke, being highly perceptive, easily won a newcomer award for her performance. With Hsiang Sibai backing her, her career soared effortlessly. She had access to opportunities that many struggling young stars could only dream of, and her fan base outpaced her peers by a mile.
Over the past three years, her incredible success had stirred envy among many. So, when Su Ke encountered trouble, numerous rivals jumped at the chance to muddy the waters.
As the largest investor in "Dreamlike Command," Hsiang Sibai received the news early but was still too late. The online backlash against Su Ke was overwhelming, beyond what money could fix.
Hsiang Sibai pinched the bridge of his nose and picked up his phone to call Su Ke.
"The number you dialed is currently busy."
Hsiang Sibai's brow furrowed even more. Who could Su Ke be talking to at a time like this?
He rarely showed such patience, but he dialed again and again, only to find the line continuously busy.
His special assistant, Faang Qin, hesitantly spoke up, "Sir, if she blocked your number, it would always show as busy."
Hsiang Sibai gripped the phone tightly, the veins in his arm standing out as he struggled to contain his anger.
"Your phone."
"Huh?" Faang Qin looked puzzled.
"Your phone, give it to me."
Hsiang Sibai dialed Su Ke's number again. After a couple of seconds, the call connected, and half a minute later, it was answered.
Su Ke's groggy voice came through, clearly still half-asleep: "Who is it?"
"It's me," Hsiang Sibai said.
"Well, this is a surprise," Su Ke muttered before abruptly hanging up.
Faang Qin watched nervously as Hsiang Sibai teetered on the edge of losing his temper, seriously contemplating the feasibility of leaving without the phone.
The call was made again and again. After being hung up on five times, Su Ke finally picked up.
Su Ke's voice was much more awake now: "What on earth, Hsiang Sibai, it's so early!"
"Have you been online?"
"Why?"
"Just check."
Su Ke tapped on her phone a couple of times, then let out a cold laugh.
"Isn't this a case of the pot calling the kettle black?"
"Come to the office, let's figure out how to handle this," Hsiang Sibai suggested.
The call was interrupted by some noise on Su Ke's end.
Someone said something to her, and Su Ke responded with a couple of "hello"s before her voice brightened.
"No need, Qin Liang said he'll take care of it."
Faang Qin quietly shuffled his feet, trying to slip out of the CEO's office before Hsiang Sibai's temper erupted, but it was too late.
Hsiang Sibai's voice came through, teeth clenched—
"Su Ke, I'm giving you half an hour to get over here!"
On the other end, Faang Qin couldn't quite make out what else was being said, but it was clear there was some haggling going on with Hsiang Sibai.
Hsiang Sibai had reached his limit—
"Su Ke! Don't make me remind you again that your contract is still with Shengbai!"
Click—!
Hsiang Sibai hung up first, his chest heaving as he tried to suppress the anger that was about to erupt.
Faang Qin: "Boss, they say holding in anger isn't good for your health."
"Get out!"
Faang Qin quickly grabbed his phone and dashed out. After the door closed, the sound of things being thrown around echoed from the office.
Half an hour later, just as Faang Qin finished tidying up the office, Su Ke walked in through the door.
