C18 Oh No!!

Su Ke took the opportunity to break free from his embrace. Qin Liang, who had been standing at a distance, finally approached, relieved to see Su Ke was unharmed.

"Su Ke."

Hsiang Sibai called for Faang Qin to escort the rambling Ye Yajing away, then turned back to Su Ke.

"Come by the office in a couple of days to terminate the contract."

Even though she had anticipated this outcome, Su Ke couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness when the moment finally arrived.

"Alright, thank you, Young Master Hsiang."

Su Ke grabbed Qin Liang's arm to leave, but just as they turned, Hsiang Sibai stopped them.

"Those documents you had earlier..."

"Do you have any copies?"

Su Ke took a deep breath, surprised that Hsiang Sibai would go to such lengths for Ye Yajing. She nodded toward the direction of the papers.

"Hah... I made those up this morning."

Hsiang Sibai was momentarily taken aback, realizing he had been fooled by Su Ke.

"But Ye Yajing's behavior says it all, doesn't it?"

"Can't you see she's just pretending to be crazy?"

Su Ke looked into Hsiang Sibai's eyes, hoping to find a hint of doubt about Ye Yajing, but instead, she saw her own unwillingness to let go.

"Hsiang Sibai."

She heard her own voice.

"Is someone like Shen Siyi really worth all this?"

Hsiang Sibai's throat felt like it was stuffed with cotton, and he heard his own voice, lacking any conviction.

"She wasn't like this when she was little."

"When she was young, she was so well-behaved, obedient, and kind-hearted."

He seemed lost in a memory, one that belonged only to him and the young Siyi.

As the sole heir of the Hsiang family, his childhood was filled with endless lessons, leaving him friendless and barely receiving any affection from his family.

But only Siyi was willing to stay by his side, never giving up on him, even when he was initially cold and distant.

Perhaps it was the experience of getting lost that changed her so drastically, he thought.

Yet, his nature wouldn't allow him to say much to Su Ke.

"Let's go, Su Ke," he said. "Go back and focus on your acting."

"If anyone bullies you, you can come to me."

Su Ke knew she could never compete with the memory of Siyi, because what Hsiang Sibai loved was the Siyi in his memories.

How could she ever compare to a memory?

"No need, Hsiang Sibai," she replied. "I hope we never meet again."

A month and a half later, "Dreamlike Command" officially wrapped up. The initial uproar over the strike dissipated with the production team's statement and Ye Yajing's clarification.

The swift clarification spared Su Ke from too much trouble and even gave "Dreamlike Command" a boost in publicity.

That evening, the crew held a closing banquet, and as the lead actress, Su Ke had to attend.

She arrived a bit late, and as soon as she walked into the banquet hall, she spotted Ye Yajing and the lead actor sitting on either side of the director. Since the last incident in Hsiang Sibai's office, Ye Yajing seemed to avoid bringing up the past. Not only did she behave better on set, but she also avoided Su Ke in private. Su Ke was quite pleased with Ye Yajing's change in attitude and hoped to keep her distance from both Hsiang Sibai and Ye Yajing for the rest of her life.

The crew welcomed Su Ke warmly upon her arrival. Though she appeared aloof, she was genuinely kind and had made many friends on set. At the celebration party, everyone mingled freely regardless of their status. Actors, crew members, lighting technicians, and assistant directors all came over to toast with Su Ke. She could hold her liquor well, sipping on low-alcohol champagne. However, after a few glasses, she felt a burning sensation in her lower abdomen, as if it were on fire.
