C3 Tomorrow There will be a Banquet and You Can be My Female Companion!
The car drove from the upscale neighborhood downtown to the suburbs, stopping in front of a row of townhouses. They had reached their destination.
Liang Suqin stood at the door, accompanied by a man in his fifties. As soon as Su Ke got out of the car, she was enveloped in Liang Suqin's embrace.
Su Ke stiffened, feeling Liang Suqin's soft hair against her cheek, enveloped by a scent that reminded her of her mother. Liang Suqin's uncontrollable sobs reached her ears, and Su Ke slowly relaxed, gently wrapping her arms around Liang Suqin.
She buried her head in Liang Suqin's shoulder, just like the first time they met at the orphanage.
The man who had been standing with Liang Suqin approached and patted her shoulder. "Alright, the kid just got back and must be tired. Let's not stand out here in the wind. Let's go inside."
His voice was deep and strong. Liang Suqin gently released Su Ke, wiped her tears, and smiled apologetically.
Only then did Su Ke get a good look at the man who had spoken. She took a deep breath, surprised to realize that this was none other than Qin Guizhi, the man known as Fifth Master Qin, who was reputed to control much of the entertainment industry as the head of Xinghuan Entertainment.
The Qin family's home was brilliantly lit and lavishly decorated. Su Ke took a sip of the hot chocolate Mrs. Zhang, the housekeeper, had brought her, and warmth spread through her body.
“Coco, can you tell me how you've managed all these years?” Liang Suqin asked, her eyes red as she held Su Ke's hand tightly.
“After you left, Su Qiang looked for you for a while, but eventually gave up,” Su Ke said calmly. “Over the years, he drank, gambled, and would hit me when he was upset.”
“Three years ago, the year I graduated high school, he drank too much with some people, got alcohol poisoning, and died.”
“After that...” Su Ke paused. “To pay off debts, I ended up in the entertainment industry by accident.” She left out any mention of her experiences with Hsiang Sibai.
Qin Guizhi, having heard some things about Su Ke in the industry, sighed and patted her shoulder. “Things will get better from now on.”
Liang Suqin dabbed at her tears with a handkerchief. “I’m so sorry, I should have taken you with me back then.”
Su Ke remained silent, unsure how to comfort her.
That night, Su Ke lay in the room the Qin family had specially prepared for her, lost in thought. She had been through so much in one day—losing her child, accepting her adoptive mother, and now gaining a stepfather and a brother.
Her stepfather was none other than the influential figure in the entertainment industry, Mr. Qin.
"Knock, knock!" The door sounded. Su Ke opened it to find Qin Liang standing there in casual home attire.
"Mrs. Zhang asked me to bring you some warm milk."
Su Ke thanked him, and after she finished the milk, Qin Liang said, "There's a party tomorrow. Would you like to be my date?"
Su Ke was momentarily taken aback, and Qin Liang chuckled softly, a hint of unexpected shyness in his expression.
"Did I spring that on you too suddenly?"
Just as Su Ke was about to deny it, Qin Liang shrugged, instantly easing the atmosphere.
"Alright, I'm just teasing. I'll introduce you to some friends in the industry tomorrow."
"You know, making connections in this business can really smooth the way."
Su Ke nodded, her tone tinged with gratitude. "What kind of party is it? Do I need to prepare anything?"
"No need. Mrs. Zhang will have your clothes and jewelry ready."
"It's a gathering hosted by the Shen family. They've just reunited with their daughter and want everyone to meet her."
