C8 Dangerous Desires

In an instant, Smith darted from the room, leaving only a ripple of disturbance in his wake.

Immediately, Calvin shrugged off his suit jacket and draped it over Cleopatra’s shoulders, forcing himself to look away. His chest rose and fell unevenly, a storm of emotions roiling beneath the surface, threatening to spill over, yet he clenched his jaw, holding himself in check.

Her gaze, unyielding, lingered on him, taking in the way he struggled to maintain composure like a true gentleman. A slow, knowing smile curved her lips as her hands reached out, cupping his face, her thumbs brushing lightly against his cheeks.

The warmth of her touch seeped into him, softening the tautness in his chest for a fleeting, dangerous moment.

But the surge of emotions was relentless. He acted instinctively, gripping her hand to stop her movement. Their eyes locked, and the air between them crackled with unspoken desire and restrained intensity.

“Why are you in lingerie?” His voice snapped, sharp and urgent, the tenderness in his gaze replaced by a burning, almost possessive glare. His grip tightened around her hand. “Have all your clothes vanished? Can’t you find a single thing to wear?”

“Ouch! Cal, stop! You’re hurting me!” Cleopatra gasped, wincing as his hold tightened.

“Answer me!” Calvin’s voice snapped, his gaze sharp, every muscle coiled, emotions storming behind his eyes.

“I—I spilled cof—” Her words died as the office door swung open.

Katie stepped in, gown in hand, and froze. Her eyes widened, taking in the intimate scene before her.

“W-w-w-what’s going on here?” she stammered, sliding onto the plush round sofa. Her gaze flicked frantically between them. “Lovers’ quarrel?”

Cleopatra’s panic surged. She broke free from Calvin’s grasp and snatched the gown from Katie. The half-draped suit jacket revealed she was still in lingerie. Katie’s mouth fell open Cleopatra hadn’t touched her wardrobe at all.

Heart pounding, cheeks burning, Cleopatra reached the inner room. Her eyes met Calvin’s hand, still holding hers. She touched it and for a heartbeat, her chest trembled. Not with fear. Not with shame. But with something softer, something dangerous: love.

A sheepish smile tugged at her lips. “I can’t believe I’m smiling at Calvin’s grip,” she whispered.

Meanwhile the room thickened with tension. Katie froze, uncertain whether to speak or flee.

Then she erupted.

“Cleopatra! Why didn’t you take any clothes from the wardrobe?! Ahh, my head!”

Katie turned to explain, but Calvin’s dangerous glare froze her in place.

“H-hey! Stop glaring at me! I told her to wear something!” Katie stammered, curling inward. “The coffee spilled on her gown, so my secretary took it to get cleaned!”

Calvin’s gaze drifted to the closed door, dark and stormy. His fingers curled into fists at his sides, knuckles white with restrained fury. “She should never, ever expose herself like that in public. What was she even thinking?” Heat coiled in his chest, a wildfire of anger and helplessness threatening to erupt, his body trembling under its force.

“It’s alright, big bro. She’s fine. Maybe she just felt strange wearing my clothes,” Katie said, mischief dancing in her eyes, a sly smile tugging at her lips.

“What if some pervert had walked in on her like that?” he snapped.

Katie’s legs shot up instinctively, eyes wide. “W-why would a pervert even come into my office?!”

Then Cleopatra stepped out of the inner office. Time seemed to stop. Calvin froze, breath catching, every nerve ignited. She was radiant every inch of her glowing in the elegant gown that clung to her curves, shimmering under the office lights. Hair cascading like liquid gold, eyes blazing with quiet fire.

His heart thundered, a mix of awe and heat surging through him. He swallowed hard, powerless to look away. For a heartbeat, the world narrowed to her.

Then, with a forceful inhale, he forced himself to regain composure. “Don’t ever do this again.”

He spun on his heel, calm exterior in place, though beneath the surface, a storm of emotions churned, threatening to betray him.

Cleopatra’s gaze lingered on the door, her mind still caught in that moment, until Katie’s voice snapped through the tension like a whip.

“Girl, what the hell! Are you trying to destroy my beloved brother?!”

Cleopatra’s lips curved into a slow, knowing smile, eyes glinting with wily cunning. “What do you think?” she murmured, voice low, teasing, utterly provocative.

Katie tapped her finger lightly against Cleopatra’s nose, impish mischief sparkling in her eyes. “I think he couldn’t hold it in but we still need to be sure. Does he truly have feelings for you… or is he just worried?”

Cleopatra’s jaw tightened, quiet determination threading through her words. “I’ll have to take it slowly, break down the walls he’s built around his heart.”

Moments later, Katie escorted her to the waiting taxi. Calvin followed, a few steps behind, eyes never leaving them. He watched in silence, heart tightening with each laugh, each gesture Katie’s playful antics, Cleopatra’s radiant smile, a coil of longing and frustration winding inside him.

“You shouldn’t lose yourself again, get too excited, only to be broken without a hint of mercy,” he muttered under his breath.

It hadn’t hurt the day he cut his own heart away only for it to be left bruised and wretched beneath exposed ribs, stripped bare like roots torn from the earth, aching and hollow. The pain was familiar. Too familiar. And it was a feeling he never wanted to experience again.

Every laugh Cleopatra let out, every small movement, struck him like a spark painful, electric, and utterly consuming.

Calvin had vowed no woman would ever shatter his heart like Cleopatra did, yet each memory of her remained a raw ache, a painful reminder of the heartbreak that forged the resolve he clung to.

Back in his office, the sofa groaned beneath him as he sank into it. Leg crossed, fingers slipping into his pocket to retrieve his phone. The screen lit, and he dialed Katie with deliberate calm.

Minutes later, Katie arrived. Her eyes fell on him reclining with the precision of a king. One leg draped over the other, a black cigarette dangling lazily from his fingers. Smoke curled upward, twisting in the air, framing the sharp, unreadable lines of his gaze.

Every movement, every posture radiated control. Quiet. Menacing. The weight of his presence pressed down on the room, an unspoken warning: even the smallest misstep would not escape consequence.

Sliding into the chair opposite him, Katie met his gaze steadily. “Colder, wassup?”

“Why is she here?” His voice was calm, low, but laced with a dangerous edge that made her flinch.

“She’s one of our staff now. I employed her. She’ll work as a wardrobe assistant,” Katie explained.

“Why that? Are you trying to turn a good girl into a model?” Calvin’s tone was sharp, cutting.

“Aren’t you a little too sharp? Yeah, you got me,” Katie replied with a relieved sigh. “Wasn’t she almost one of the debut models six years ago? What’s new?”

“Whatever you two do is your problem. Keep me out of it,” he said, voice cool, measured.

“I had assumed the two of you were at odds. Pray tell, what has changed?” he asked, his gaze sharp, every word measured with curiosity.

“Oh, we’ve settled our differences,” she replied smoothly, a playful lilt in her voice. “You know how it is with girls' occasional quarrels, fleeting and inconsequential,” a soft, amused laugh brushing against her words.

Katie scanned him carefully, letting out a soft scoff, a sly smile tugging at her lips. “Are you really over her? Not even the tiniest flicker of feeling left?” Her eyes gleamed, daring him to answer.

“No. I’ve moved on. I don’t want anything to do with her.” Calvin exhaled, smoke curling from the cigar between his fingers. The tendrils drifted lazily, yet his jaw tightened and his pulse betrayed him.

Katie knew there was no point in pressing further; she didn’t want to provoke his temper. “Alright, if you say so. But just know you may be seeing her more often,” she said, a playful sweep of her hand emphasizing the implied frequency.

Finished teasing, she waved him off and departed.

Calvin, unperturbed, summoned Smith via the intercom. “Drive me home. Straight there. No stops.”

At his estate, he moved with precise intent, straight to his room. Clothes discarded, he stepped into the bathroom, steam curling around him as warm water cascaded over his pale skin.

And yet, the mind is a treacherous thing. Cleopatra. Her image intruded relentlessly on lingerie clinging to every curve, skin flawless, posture regal, confidence absolute. She haunted the corners of his thoughts, sharp as glass and insistent as fire.

Lightning struck in his chest. Heat flared through him, defying every ounce of restraint. He clenched his fists, forcing his thoughts elsewhere, but the image remained vivid, unyielding, unrelenting. Frustration and desire coiled together like twin serpents, winding tighter with every heartbeat.

A surge of arousal twisted through him, unavoidable, undeniable.

“F*cking hell, no!” he snapped, teeth gritted, mind aflame, and every nerve alight with the conflict between restraint and desire.
