C1 Introduction

Addison Pov

I waved up from my bed with my young brother waking me up. With his small little hands he was pulling my blanket and calling out my name with his tender little voice, “Addison wake up or else you will get late for work” I woke up, carried him in my arms, kissed him on his forehead. “Good morning sweetheart”, I said, holding him in my arms.

“Good morning Addison”, he replied.

“So today what you want for breakfast?, I’ll make it for you,” I asked.

“You know my favourite, Addi, I want banana pancakes with chocolate syrup”, he replied.

“Ok fine I’ll make it for you, I have a very important job today in my office, I might get home late, so you will behave like a good boy, you won’t trouble auntie Maddie right darling?”, I asked him.

“Yes Addi, I will behave like a good boy. Can you get me a pastry”, he asked.

Ok I will buy you your favourite pastry only if I don’t get any complaints from auntie Maddie ,ok darling.

“Ok Addison, love you”, he replied.

I took him to the bathroom, carrying him in my arms and put him in the bathtub. I got him dry after giving him a warm bath, put on his clothes, and brushed his hair.

“Okay darling, get your bag ready. I will take a shower and then make your favourite breakfast, ok darling”, I said.

I took a shower, went to my closet, and stared at it. I was thinking about which outfit I should wear today, as today was an important day for me. I took out a red top that I would wear with my black skirt, and a pair of black heels, which I always wear.

I put on a bathrobe so that I could prepare breakfast for Noel.

I made breakfast for my little brother, served him on the table and rushed towards my room so that I could get changed. I couldn’t afford to get late today for work. I put on my outfit, which I selected to wear, and I put on a pair of heels.

I carried my purse, and told Noel to carry his bag. I left him in my neighbor’s place. Mrs. Maddie is a sweet lady who helps me take care of my little brother after my mom has passed away.

"Ok Noel you will behave like a good boy okay, I will be back home soon", I said kissing him on his forehead.

"Addi Don't forget to buy me my favourite pastry", he said.

"Yes ok sweetheart", I replied.

"Bye Addison"

"Bye darling"

Authors POV

Things were not that easy for Addison after her mom had passed away. Addison had just finished her education and had started to work. Noel, Addison's small brother from another father. Addison's mother had married the second time after her father's death things were not that easy for Addison as her father used to not treat her in a good way, he never took Addison as his daughter

After a year Addison's mother got pregnant with her brother Noel, her stepfather had left them all alone as he didn't want to take the responsibilities. Addison's mother suffered from depression and soon she discovered that she had a brain tumor. After a few years Addison's mother had passed away leaving Addison and her brother all alone. Addison was not financially stable

But she didn't want to abandon her little brother and put him in foster care or adoption so she decided to take her brother's custody into her hands. As Addison had to work she used to leave her brother in her neighbor's house.

Addison POV

Soon I left for work. When I reached my office I saw all of my co-workers were in a hurry and my boss was tense too.

My best friend Anna approached me, she hugged me,

"good morning Addi baby", she wished me while giving me a hug.

"Good morning Anna", I replied.

I questioned her, "what is happening today, why is everyone working like donkeys"

"it seems that u are not aware that our new CEO is going to arrive today and he is very particular about his work. He needs his work to be done on time.

He is very strict, if his work is not done on time, he gets furious. I'm afraid that he will be taking up his father's position in our office. "I heard that he is leading many more companies, how could he make time here", I asked her.

"Yes I know but this was his father's company, he was very close to his father, so there are chances of him to stay in this company as a CEO, he will be keeping a watch on everyone", she replied.

"If you two are done chatting can you please get to your places to complete your work, don't you two know that the CEO will be arriving today, you both know everything about him right and still instead of completing your work y'all are having a good time, come on now get back to work", our boss said with a loud voice.

"I think it's better for us to start getting back to work, my documents are not prepared, they are still pending, I have a lot to do so I will better get going with you. What about you? How much is pending for yours?"She asked.

"No, I have almost completed it, just need a little more work on it and then I am done", I replied.

"You are awesome Addison, always get your work ready on time" she said.

Yes I know, you should also complete it that same very day when it is assigned to us, rather than keeping it pending", I replied.

Everyone's work is pending so now they are trying to complete it". She replied.

I then took my seat and began to complete my work. I'm a girl who is very particular about my work. I don't wait for the end moment. My work is done on time because I don't keep it pending. I complete it the very same day it is assigned to us so I was not stressed as most of my work was completed.

I completed my pending work in 20 mins, which was left. I headed towards Anna's seat, "do you want some help?, I am done with mine",I asked her.

"Yes I do need help, I will not be able to complete this alone, thank you so much Addison", she said with a smile.

"No, there is no need for you to thank me, you are my friend and I need to help you with your work, right?", I replied.

"Oh Addison you are such a saviour, you come for my rescue whenever I am in trouble", she said.

"Yeah that is what best friends do!!", I said.

"Ok so you do this document, and I will help you out with this one, that is how our work will be done faster", I said.

"These are the documents which are pending, and these two need a little more work done on it", she said while handing the documents in my hand.

I took her documents and began to work on it, it took 2 hrs to complete it.

"Finally our work is done, I just can't imagine you kept these many documents pending", I said.

"Yeah I know I'm sorry I gave you some trouble, next time I will try to complete it the very same day it is assigned",she said.

"Hope so Anna you keep up with your words, because the last time you said the same thing but you did it again",I replied.

"Promise I won't keep it pending okay",she said.

"Ok good keep up with your promise ok", I replied.

"There is still an hour for the CEO to arrive, we will have a coffee till then, I am too tired and I need one, so can you join me?"

"Yes sure ,I am too very hungry as I skipped breakfast as I was getting late", I replied.

"Ok fine the treat is from my side ok", she said.

"No way we will split our money, there is no need for you to pay the full amount",I replied.

"No I own you one,you helped me with my word Addi please let me give you a treat please!!",she said, holding my hands with a baby look on her face.

"Ok fine!" I replied.

We headed towards the cafeteria and ordered a cappuccino along with a chicken sandwich and chocolate donuts. We took our seat and began to have our snacks.

We chatted a bit while having our coffee.

Anna told me about what's going on in her life and her problems,I told her about my problems.

"So have you been able to collect money for the rent of your house", she asked.

"No I have not been able to collect the whole amount, a promotion would help me out to pay my rent and Noel's school fees too, I want to do something in life, get a better life, and not end up like me struggling". I said.

"Listen if you need any help please tell me ok, I will try to help you out", she replied.

"No thanks, I will try to manage, don't worry about me", I said.

I didn't want to take any money from Anna, as I knew that I had to pay her back, and if I couldn't, I might lose my friendship with her. So it would be better not to take any help from her.

We all would be getting our positions next month, which means our Salary would be increased, so I could use that money.

There were chances for me to get a promotion as I worked really hard and I deserved it.

"How is your relationship going on with your boyfriend?", I asked her.

"No not that well, I am thinking of breaking up with him, I know he is cheating on me with a girl who is just 15",she said.

"He is dating a girl who is 15, are you serious?`` Girl you need to leave that man he is not worth to be with, you will get someone better than him",I replied.

"Yeah I know I'm thinking of breaking up with him tomorrow", she said.

"Yeah it would be better for you, as this man is too toxic for you", I replied.

"I don't think I would be able to date anyone, or have a serious relationship with anyone", she said.

"All men are not the same,you would one day find someone who would love you truly from their heart and soul", I said.

"If I'm lucky enough I would find someone who would love me truly, by the way when are you going to date someone?", she asked.

"You know now I am not interested in anyone, I have a lot of load on my back and even responsibilities, I have a lot of plans for Noel too, so I have no time to date someone or be in a relationship with anyone". I replied.

"You know Jacob, one of the employees in this company, I think he has a crush on you, he keeps on staring at you, that shows that he likes you, I think you should ask him out, he is hot too",she said with a smirk.

"No I am not interested in anyone for now I just want to concentrate on my job, and if someone stares at you it doesn't mean that they like you, even if he does I am not interested in him",I replied.

"I think we should head towards the office, the CEO would be here at any moment".I said.

We then headed towards the office waiting outside for the CEO to arrive.

Jacob was standing in front of me staring at me. I felt like moving away because I felt uncomfortable there. I didn't like Jacob staring at me, it looked like he was scanning my whole body.

"See I told you he is interested in you", she said looking at me and winking.

"But I am not ok!", I said.

I tried to ignore Jacob as I didn't want to spoil my mood because of him.

After a few minutes our CEO arrived, three cars followed him when he entered the gate.
