C3 She Prayed That She Could Extend Her Life for Her Love Rival

Soong Yichen noticed the bruise on Mu Wanxing's forehead, his expression shifting as concern flickered in his eyes. Instinctively, he stepped toward her. "Let me take you to the hospital."

Seeing the worry in Yichen's eyes, Wanxing felt her heart stir. He still cared for her. It was a hard-won realization, paid for with pain.

"Yichen, my heart hurts so much, I can hardly breathe. Please... help me..." Kin Qier's face twisted as she clutched her chest dramatically, groaning loudly, her body swaying as if she might collapse at any moment.

Yichen immediately left Wanxing's side, scooping Qier up in his arms. "Hang in there, Qier. I'll get you to the hospital right away."

As the couple departed, silence finally returned. Wanxing, numb from heartache, dabbed her forehead with a tissue and returned to the restaurant. She ate her lunch without tasting it, then drifted back to work like a ghost.

"Director, are you okay?" Lee, her assistant, was startled by her appearance.

Wanxing forced a smile. "I'm fine."

"Let me help you with that cut on your forehead, so it doesn't get infected," Lee offered softly.

Wanxing gave a dismissive smile. "No need. It's not life-threatening. I'm practically a dead woman walking anyway."

Lee hesitated, then whispered, "Director, are you really going to donate your heart to that woman?"

"Really." Wanxing looked over, her eyes dull.

Lee hesitated, then couldn't help but say, "The Director made such a big sacrifice for Yichen... for Director Soong. Everyone in the company knows how much you two loved each other, and you were even engaged. Then that woman came out of nowhere, and people outside don't know the truth. They write all sorts of nonsense, twisting the facts, making you out to be the other woman stealing someone else's husband. It's just so malicious... And those online commenters, spreading rumors... Director, look..."

Wanxing recalled what Qier had said in the restroom and glanced at Lee's phone. The content was indeed extremely distorted, with the comment section full of foul language and inappropriate remarks. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and tried to control her emotions.

"Director, why not post something to clear your name? We'll all vouch for you. It's Yichen... Director Soong who changed his heart," Lee said angrily.

Wanxing's heart wavered for a moment, but she eventually shook her head. "Thank you. Go back to work."

What she cared about most was Yichen. If his heart had changed, what was the point of her going to great lengths to clear her name?

She worked late into the night before heading home, with no one checking in on her. Even when she got home, Yichen was nowhere to be found, leaving Wanxing feeling a deep sense of sadness.

Only Wang Lan, sent by the Mo family to take care of her, reminded her to take her medication for controlling melanoma, repeatedly emphasizing the precautions.

She thought to herself, at least her father still cared about her. But she didn't have much time to show her gratitude. She was his only child, and she wondered if he could handle things when the time came. This thought made Mu Wanxing feel even more downcast.

When Mu Wanxing came out of the bathroom, she was surprised to see Soong Yichen there.

"Come with me to the hospital," Soong Yichen said, his face expressionless.

It took Mu Wanxing a couple of seconds to process this. She touched her forehead and said, "No need, it's not a big deal. It'll heal on its own in a few days."

Despite her words, she felt a bit of warmth in her heart. He still remembered her injury. Was that why he came back?

But then Soong Yichen's next words made her heart sink again: "What are you talking about? We didn't get a chance to do the heart match test yesterday. I'm telling you to go to the hospital now. Are you trying to back out?"

Mu Wanxing recalled what happened at the restaurant and felt resistant. "I've been working all day, and I'm exhausted. Besides, it's so late. Aren't most departments at the hospital closed by now? Let's go this weekend; it's only a couple of days away."

"Qier, who's a patient, hasn't complained about being tired, so why are you? If I tell the hospital to open, they will. Stop making excuses. We're going now!"

Without giving her a chance to argue, Soong Yichen opened the closet, grabbed a couple of clothes, and tossed them to Mu Wanxing. The zipper of one of the garments hit her face, but what hurt more was her heart.

Never did she imagine that one day, Yichen would treat her so harshly.

"I'll give you ten minutes, or I'll have to call the hospital to come and get you," Yichen said coldly as he walked out.

Wanxing felt a deep emptiness inside as she cooperated with the hospital for a series of tests and samples, all the while wrestling with the thought: Should she really donate her heart to Qier?

Yichen instructed a nurse to keep an eye on Wanxing to prevent her from leaving, while he stayed by Qier's side the whole time.

When they finally came out, Qier complained about having too much blood drawn, and Yichen comforted her tenderly, blowing softly on her arm.

Wanxing's eyes reddened: Does first love have the power to change someone's mind so completely? How could Yichen ignore her so thoroughly?

Even though he now denied ever loving her, so many people had witnessed it. Were they all blind?

She couldn't rest until she got a clear answer from Yichen.

Yichen took Qier home and told Wanxing to take a cab.

Wanxing waited at home until the early hours, but Yichen never returned. Frustrated, she called him: "I've done the matching tests as you asked. Shouldn't you act like a husband?"

"Wanxing..."

On the other end, it was Qier's voice. "Yichen's asleep. He just fell asleep, so I won't wake him."

"Just fell asleep?"

"Sleeping openly at Kin Qier's place!"

Judging by the time, he must have been there for quite a while. What was he doing earlier?

It's hard not to let your mind wander.

Mu Wanxing felt a surge of anger. "When is he coming home?"

"Well..." Kin Qier deliberately stretched her words, "probably... after the test results are out, we'll decide."

"What do you mean?" Imagining Kin Qier's smug expression, Mu Wanxing couldn't keep her tone pleasant.

"Let me tell you, so you won't be upset by that woman's harsh words later."

Soong Yichen's voice came through, gentle towards Kin Qier, but when he turned to speak to Mu Wanxing, it became cold and hard.

"The condition for marrying you was that you'd donate your heart to Qier. We haven't even done the matching yet, and I already married you. Consider yourself lucky. Don't use our marriage to pressure me. Whether I come back or not depends on the test results, so you better pray!"

So self-righteous, Mu Wanxing was momentarily speechless.

Pray? Pray for a successful match so she could save her rival's life?

From Soong Yichen's words, if the match failed, he'd divorce her immediately and marry Kin Qier instead.

Mu Wanxing felt a deep sadness, unsure of what outcome to hope for.

A few days later, the report came out.

The result was a match.

Mu Wanxing looked at the report, her emotions indescribable. What are the odds of a successful heart match between two strangers? Yet, she and Kin Qier managed it, and it was a perfect match!

What a coincidence.

Will Yichen be home tonight?
