A wave of guilt washed over me, as I remembered my previous conversation with Nicole. I couldn't shake the feeling that I said something wrong to her. Nicole, leaving for work early, also added to my unease because she did that to avoid me. Maybe she was truly busy, just as she had claimed.

I decided to pay her a visit at work, to clear the air and check in on her
