C33 Walk the Pugilistic Worlds Lady of the Heroes 9
Cheng Xuan smirked mischievously, "That's quite an offer!"
"Alright!" he replied softly, and the two of them once again found themselves wrapped in another round of intimacy...
Yiyue had no idea about their conversation at this moment. If she did, who knows what she'd think.
Yiling was just a year younger than her. When she was born, Huang Jiuyang and Lan Xiuxiu had been married for three years. Yiling's mother was a maid who worked for Lan Xiuxiu, and Yao Dayong married her, which is how he ended up in the Poison Doctor Valley. Most importantly, Yao Dayong only started following Huang Jiuyang and Lan Xiuxiu after Yiling's mother passed away. He spent most of his time outside and rarely visited the Poison Doctor Valley.
Yiling was raised in the Poison Doctor Manor. Even though she was young, she should have some memories by now. It's hard to understand what goes on in the mind of the Heroine Lord.
Just a few days after leaving the Independent City, Yiyue encountered her first group of men in black. What to do? Naturally, she decided to fight them off!
Since fighting was too exhausting, Yiyue swiftly used poison to incapacitate them and then finished them off one by one. She wasn't the type to show mercy. When faced with those who meant her harm, experience had taught her that eliminating the threat was the most reliable solution.
After that, during her travels, she would occasionally run into a group or two of these men in black. Constantly being hunted down was starting to wear on Yiyue's nerves.
After taking out the person in her grasp, Yiyue searched the leader in black and found only a token. The token was engraved with the word "Cold."
Cold Palace?
Yiyue raised an eyebrow. Wasn't this the power behind the male lead? Since when had they set their sights on her? This wasn't mentioned in the storyline, was it?
Puzzled, Yiyue didn't bother with the bodies scattered around. She quickly left and silently called out to the system in her mind. After countless attempts, just as she was about to give up, the aloof system finally responded: "The storyline has changed because of the host's actions. Hidden plots require the host to discover them."
With that one sentence, no matter how much Yiyue called, there was no further response.
Hidden plots? Could the change in the storyline be because she saved Dongfang Bai after leaving the valley?
Knowing she couldn't rely on the system, Yiyue decided not to take the storyline too seriously. It was just a reference, after all.
The male lead didn't know her, and now that the people from Cold Palace were after her, it was probably Yao Yiling's doing, right? This heroine wasn't as kind as the story suggested, was she?
The original owner's wishes didn't include dealing with the male and female leads, but if they were going to act like this, she wasn't going to just sit back and let them play her, was she?
Considering the location of Cold Palace, Yiyue decided not to wander aimlessly. She turned and headed in another direction. Cold Palace was both righteous and evil, and shrouded in mystery. To avoid being tracked by them, Yiyue kept changing her appearance along the way.
Although Yiyue knew the location of the Cold Palace from the storyline, it still took her quite a bit of time to find it. She wasn't sure if Cheng Xuan was still tangled up with Yiling in Independent City, but Yiyue's martial arts skills weren't particularly strong, though her agility was impressive.
Yiyue was well aware of her own capabilities. Instead of venturing into the Cold Palace itself, she targeted the places supplying it with food. She poisoned the water sources and the soil for the vegetables. Despite the Cold Palace's secretive location, these supply points were guarded, but that didn't stop Yiyue from getting in.
The guards were all under Cheng Xuan's command, and they could turn into her assassins at any moment. Yiyue felt no guilt about poisoning them. On her way out, she was spotted by someone. Without hesitation, Yiyue knocked the person out, beat them up, and dragged the 'body' to a corner to hide it.
Once she was sure the food and water had reached the people inside the Cold Palace, Yiyue left. A few days later, news spread that the Cold Palace had been mostly destroyed. Sitting at a small tea stand, Yiyue listened, a bit dissatisfied, and smirked. Only mostly destroyed? Why not completely?
The Cold Palace was a major support for Cheng Xuan. The storyline mentioned that Cheng Xuan was the illegitimate son of a prominent family in the martial world. He had been marginalized by the legitimate heirs and had built the mysterious Cold Palace over decades of hard work.
Everyone respected the Cold Palace, yet they had no idea that its master was once the illegitimate son they looked down upon. When Cheng Xuan's true identity was revealed, it was a real slap in the face for many. It also elevated Yao Yiling to the esteemed position of the master's wife. Now, with the Cold Palace mostly destroyed, can Cheng Xuan still hold his head high?
Most people in the community were actually pleased to see the Cold Palace fall. They couldn't wait for the powers that overshadowed them to disappear.
Yiyue casually left a few coins on the table and stepped out of the tea stall, feeling refreshed. Over the past two months, she had explored nearly every town nearby. Where to next? She heard the once-in-a-decade Heroes' Gathering was about to begin. The original Yiyue had always wanted to attend, but back then, she was on the run from the authorities and couldn't make it. Maybe she should check it out now?
With that thought, Yiyue eagerly started mapping out the route in her mind. Suddenly, a scruffy person bumped into her. The impact wasn't strong, but it made her stagger a bit.
"Sorry, sorry," the person apologized hurriedly and left before Yiyue could respond.
"What the heck?" Yiyue muttered, sensing something was off. She quickly checked her waist and was furious. "That jerk actually managed to steal from me!"
Looking around, Yiyue leaped onto the rooftop. The thief who had stolen the money bag hadn't gotten far. From her vantage point, Yiyue spotted him instantly and sprinted after him with impressive speed.
The thief was initially thrilled with his stolen loot, but when he glanced back and saw Yiyue bounding across the rooftops, he was terrified and ran for his life. However, no matter how fast he was, he couldn't outrun someone with Yiyue's agility.
Catching up to him in a narrow alley, Yiyue didn't waste any time. She kicked him to the ground, retrieving the now slightly discolored money bag and tucking it into her sleeve.
With a glance at the man lying motionless on the ground, Yiyue was about to leave when the thief suddenly sprang up and clung to her leg. "Miss, please forgive me. I was wrong."
"Get lost! Who are you calling 'Miss'?!"
Yiyue was furious. But then, the voice sounded oddly familiar. She looked down and chuckled. It was someone who had practically delivered himself to her doorstep.
The man, dressed in rags and now sobbing, was none other than Yao Dayong, someone Yiyue had long wanted to deal with. This man truly had no shame. Without the protection of his former allies, life hadn't been kind to him, and now he was trying to latch onto her for support.
