C8 Miss 8 Who Was Cannon Fodder
So, regardless of how Lin Yuv might appear in this household, as long as she doesn't provoke her, she won't interfere much.
Slipping on her slippers, Yiyue tossed the empty drink bottle aside and said, "I still have some files to deal with. Since we have guests, I'm heading upstairs."
Without giving Xi's father, Xi's mother, or Xi Yihann a chance to respond, Yiyue grabbed her briefcase and went upstairs.
It's been almost a year since Yiyue joined the Xi company, and her progress hasn't gone unnoticed by Xi's father. Even without Xi Yihann or him around, Yiyue manages things well.
So, Xi's father isn't worried about her handling files.
Yiyue had no interest in staying downstairs to listen to Xi Yihann introduce Lin Yuv. Most importantly, whenever she was around, Lin Yuv seemed awkward and defensive, which annoyed her. This was the original Xi Yiyue's feelings—after all, someone had taken her fiancé. How could she possibly feel good about that?
After what happened at school, Yiyue was sure that Lin Yuv and Fu Chen wouldn't last. Even if Fu Chen liked Lin Yuv, there was still Fu's grandfather to consider.
Without Fu Chen, if Xi Yihann could win Lin Yuv's heart, Yiyue wasn't curious.
Fu Chen was outstanding, but Xi Yihann wasn't far behind.
Today, Xi Yihann bringing her home likely meant he was serious about marriage. Xi's father and mother, who started from scratch, didn't care much about social status. If nothing unexpected happened, it seemed Lin Yuv was really going to become her sister-in-law.
After finishing her work, Yiyue found herself with nothing to do, so she went to the study to pick out a few books to read. She stayed there until a servant knocked on the door to call her for dinner.
As she headed downstairs, Yiyue noticed Lin Yuv's expression change from cheerful to cautious as she chatted with Yihann's mother. Yiyue wasn't particularly interested in Lin Yuv's careful demeanor and sat down at the table, focusing on her meal.
"Ahem!" Yihann pretended to clear his throat.
Yiyue paused with her chopsticks, looking at Yihann with mild annoyance. "Hey, I've been working all day. Can't I just eat in peace?"
Yihann couldn't help but smile at her almost playful tone. "I'm not stopping you. I just wanted to introduce you. This is Lin Yuv..."
"I know, I know, future sister-in-law," Yiyue interrupted, rolling her eyes with a knowing look.
Yihann blushed slightly at Yiyue's straightforward comment and cleared his throat again to cover his embarrassment. He turned to Lin Yuv, "Yuv, this is my sister, Yiyue."
"Hi," Lin Yuv nodded, her face almost buried in her chest.
To Yihann's parents, this seemed like shyness from their future daughter-in-law, but only Lin Yuv knew she was worried about what Yiyue might say next.
"Right." Just as she was about to dig in, Yihann interrupted Yiyue again.
Yiyue looked up at Yihann, her eyes almost brimming with tears.
Yihann chuckled, not unkindly, "I remember Yuv mentioned she's also a student at A University. If you think about it, she's in the same year as you."
"Oh." Yiyue nodded, continuing to eat quietly. She was genuinely starving, and no matter what Yihann said next, she was determined to finish her meal first.
Oh? What does that mean? Yihann frowned but decided not to press further when he saw how hungry Yiyue seemed.
Lin Yuv nervously twisted the hem of her skirt, trying to maintain a smile despite her growing anxiety.
