C7 Five beats
Elias' POV
Emma jerked up and everything went still. She turned to face me and I almost let out a gasp. Her eyes. One was glowing green and the other was glowing gold with a green rim surrounding it.
She fell weakly to the bed again, this time going to sleep.
I looked at Daniel and Dr Martin. "What's happening?" I asked in exhaustion sitting on the nearest chair.
"I would like to take a sample of her blood to get it tested Alpha, it's the only way I can know for sure what's going on" Dr Martin said with his head bowed. "Go ahead, do whatever it takes to make sure she's okay" I said looking towards her.
"Uhm- I would also need to sedate her before doing so", he started making me let out a low growl. "We cannot take our chances with her right now Alpha, the tests are our best bet" Daniel whispered to me.
I nodded my head in the direction of the doctor and watched him open the box he held in search of something.
"The results will be ready in a few hours, Alpha. She should still be sleeping for the next 12 hours, by then, we'll know what to do" Dr Martin excused himself.
.
.
Time flew by and Dr Martin entered Elias's chamber again, his expression a mix of shock and awe. "Alpha, I believe the results are ready."
Intrigued and slightly anxious, I leaned forward. "And? What did you find?"
He hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Your friend, Emma is not just a human. She's one of us—a werewolf."
The revelation hung in the air, a profound truth that Elias hadn't anticipated. "How is that possible? She's been living as a human. She doesn't even know what the werewolf clan is or that it exists."
Martin continued, his voice measured. "There's more. The faery-werewolf lineage runs in her blood, granting her supernatural abilities. She's been concealing her true nature, most likely unknowingly." "What I am unable to deduce however, is what elements she can control, or the extent of it"
I was barely grappling with the newfound knowledge and was filled with a surge of conflicting emotions. "Why would she hide this from herself? From me?"
He offered a sympathetic look. "She was not aware of her heritage Alpha"
"What do you mean?"
"Her blood showed an extreme amount of a strange serum, while in the test tube I used for experimenting, it almost seemed like the serum separated from the blood and then it was gone. Disappeared like it was never there" he said with furrowed brows.
"Dark magic" I whispered.
"That's what I thought as well," he said, handing an opened book to me. "This was a book Fanny gave to me when I had a rare case of poisoning in one of my patients, it talks about everything dark magic, touches a little on Fae magic, witches and wizards."
"That page explains exactly what I saw in that laboratory Alpha" he said pointing towards the first opened page.
Black Magic is the strongest form of magic and when combined with the right contents from strong blooded creatures, it could take down even the strongest of all. The page explained how black magic can be used to conceal the true nature of one. This type of magic has its own life and has the ability to multiply its strength like a living thing.
"And as for you, Elias, her meeting with you might have triggered some latent abilities, her wolf must have drawn power from yours. It's probably why she had this episode, her wolf got energized by the surge of wolf energy in the pack premises but her human body couldn't handle it."
Elias pondered the implications of Emma's hidden identity. "What do we do now?"
Martin sighed. "Majority of what I said are speculations, or thoughts based on what I discovered in that book. On the bright side, I already mind-linked Fanny, she should be here soon"
Fanny was the oldest wolf in the pack and had the knowledge of all the elders combined if that was possible. If anybody can tell us exactly what was going on, it was Fanny.
"Thank you Martin" I said dismissing him.
It had gotten dark already and the moonlight played on Emma's features through the opened curtains, casting a gentle glow on her. I held her hands in mine and felt a sudden jolt of electricity through my arm. My eyes were wide open. The mate pull?
.
.
"Who is she?" Daniel asked me when he came into the room at midnight. I had not taken a step outside since I brought her into the pack house. Mother and Isabelle must have quite a handful of questions for me.
"I'm still trying to figure it out," I replied, looking into his eyes.
"You can't tell me you brought a complete stranger into pack grounds? Do we know if she works with our rivals? How could you possibly be so careless Elias" he scolded with a frown etched on his face.
Daniel was more like a brother to me than a friend or my Beta. When we were much younger, we used to hang around each other so much that outsiders would think we were siblings. Daniel, Isabelle and I have always been so close, in fact, although I hated the idea, I used to think they were going to be mates. Glad that didn't happen.
"You know me better than that, Danny. I can't explain it all to you now because there are still loopholes I'm trying to fill out but once it's all sorted out, I'll let you know" I said, giving him a slap on the back.
"This group of people are called Specials, the lineage has been in hiding for 300 years now. The lady in front of you, Alpha, must be a special but that's not all, I have strong reasons to believe she is also a wolf." Fanny said sitting in front of me. It took her barely an hour to get here because she was in the area.
"How can you be sure Fanny? We don't know anything about her family"
"I'm not, I would need to have a moment with the lady in private when she wakes up, if that's okay with you my dear" she said, turning to look at Emma on the bed.
"Alright, is there a problem?"
"Not entirely, we need to know the gravity of her powers, and just what has kept them hidden for so long"
"Elias my dear, do you believe in second chance mates?" She asked with a crooked smile on her lips.
"Because I believe you've just found yours" my heart skipped five beats.
