C9 What kind of monster am I?
Emma's POV
"Your second chance mate?" I asked in shock.
My heart pounded in my chest as Elias finally ended. The weight of his words settled heavily upon my shoulders, mingling with the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside me. Werewolves? Fae blood? It was already so much to take in and now, mates?
I looked into Elias' eyes, searching for any sign of deception. But all I found was raw vulnerability. His admission of me being his second chance mate stirred a mixture of emotions within me, but more surprisingly, I felt a certain degree of happiness that was not mine.
"Does that make me…. The Luna of this pack?" "The ancient mythology I read about werewolves said that each pack has a male leader who is accompanied by a female counterpart, his mate." They call them Luna. "Is that what you mean?" I asked, bringing a hand to my mouth.
His gaze held mine, "Emerald Aliphronsto, you are the future Luna of this pack, to lead my clan beside me.”
"I... I don't know what to say," I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper. "This is a lot to process, Elias. I can't be a leader," I breathed out.
He reached out, his hand trembling slightly, and gently grasped mine. "Please don't say that. Listen, I understand, Emma, it's a lot to take in. But I just had to tell you after what just happened."
A surge of warmth spread through me at his touch, and I couldn't help but lean into it.
"Emma, I know it's overwhelming, but you're not alone. We can face this together. I'll be here every step of the way."
He raised my hand to his lips and planted a kiss on it, his words offering comfort. I took a deep breath, feeling a flicker of courage ignite within me.
"You will?" I asked looking up at him through my lashes.
"I will, but first, I need to show you something" he said with a straight face.

As Elias led me through the dense forest, my heart raced with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. We walked in silence, the only sound being the crunch of leaves beneath our feet. I couldn't help but wonder where he was taking me to.
Finally, we arrived at a clearing bathed in moonlight and I thought towards my mother. In the center stood a simple gravestone, adorned with flowers, some fresh and some already dried up, there was a small picture of a beautiful woman at the top.
"When I talked about a second chance mate, you must have wondered what happened to the first mate." He said, placing his hands gently on mine making a breath hitch in my throat.
Elias gently placed a flower I hadn't realized he picked along the way, on the gravestone, his expression a mixture of sorrow and reverence. "Theresa was a remarkable woman, strong-willed and fiercely devoted. She lost her life trying to bring our son into this world."
I listened intently, my heart breaking for Elias and the loss he must have endured. I couldn't imagine the pain of losing someone you loved so deeply. "Tell me about her," I whispered, my voice barely audible.
With a deep breath, Elias shared memories of Theresa. He spoke of her infectious laughter, her beauty, her loyalty to the pack even though she was from another pack, her diligence to her duty, and her unwavering love for him and their unborn son. He explained how she had fought against all odds to bring their child into the world, despite all the pain she was going through, even when it meant sacrificing her own life.
"She was stubborn, strict, fierce, rigid, unwavering, tight-lipped but at the same time she was resilient, playful, kind, loving, chatty. She was smart, calculative, silent but she was deadly. Theresa was one of the strongest Omegas in her pack before we discovered we were mates. Her small stature would only fool you into thinking she was weak, sometimes I think she had a fair shot at beating me in a fight. But I wasn't going to risk trying" he said laughing at the end.
"She had the most beautiful heart and such a peaceful mind. The pack was lucky to have had her"
As Elias spoke, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of admiration for Theresa. Her selflessness and strength resonated within me. I realized that I had big shoes to fill as Elias' second chance mate and I couldn't help but feel insufficient.
"I don't think I can replace a Luna like that Elias" I said looking at my feet. The pebbles suddenly looked more interesting than anything else at that time.
"You're not a replacement Luna Emma, you are a blessing to this pack and your own person." He held both my hands in his making me look up at him as he looked right into my eyes. "Luna Theresa, bless her soul, was a mother to this pack when she was alive. You, are the Luna of this Kingdom, and my mate. You are not a replacement so never think that way." I never thought reassurance could feel as good as it did right now.
I did not expect to feel this level of calm within me after hearing all this. It almost felt like there was something soothing me from inside and reminding me that all was fine.
As we left the clearing, Elias took my hand in his, his touch comforting and reassuring. "Emma, you are more than I could have ever imagined," and I know that we'll get through this. Together, we can face any challenge that comes our way."
The air shimmered around me, I took a deep breath causing a gentle breeze to rustle through the trees. It felt like I had become one with nature itself, dancing in its forces with ease.
As the gentle breeze brushed against my skin, I couldn't help but feel a surge of energy coursing through my veins. With a mix of curiosity and caution, I took a few steps forward, extending my hand, trying to summon whatever lay dormant within me.
To my astonishment, a small gust of wind responded to the call, swirling around my fingertips like a playful dance. A smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I looked towards Elias. He was looking at me with awe.
Eager to explore further, I evened my breathing and listened quietly for what might sound like liquid. I heard a faint trickle from a nearby drain. Turning my attention to it, with a flick of my wrist, the water responded, rippling and swirling in a mesmerizing display. My eyes were wide with wonder at this point.
My gaze shifted to the earth beneath my feet and I looked towards Elias with a suggestive smile making him shake his head in laughter. I could see admiration in his eyes and it fueled my desire to do more. Focusing my energy, I tried to coax the ground into responding and only got a slight tremble of the rocks and pebbles by the walkway. Trying again, I blocked out every other sound and listened for the tremble in the rocks but was met with silence. Frowning in irritation, I pushed hard at my mind and a tremor shook the clearing, causing the trees to sway and Elias to stumble. I saw a few sparks from the rocks and decided to stop.
Cold fear gripped my heart as I realized I was no longer in control. The ground cracked open, revealing a deep chasm that threatened to swallow everything in its path. Panic surged through me as I desperately tried to regain control, but it only seemed to grow stronger, wreaking havoc around her.
Elias rushed to my side, his voice filled with concern. "Emma, you have to stop! You're losing control!" The earth beneath him pulled him away.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I struggled to calm the chaos I had unleashed. Doubt and fear consumed me, and my confidence crashed. Fire from the rocks and earth collided in a violent dance, threatening to consume everything in their path.
Elias, his voice filled with urgency, shouted above the chaos with wind blowing all around, "Emma, you can do this!"
How could I possibly control something so vast and unpredictable?
My eyes locked onto Elias, his faith in me building up a spark of determination within. Taking a deep breath, I gathered every ounce of courage I had left and pictured the clearing in the exact condition it was in before I started this.
Slowly, the flames began to recede, the air shifted, the trembling earth settled, the cracks closing up, as if the ground itself was taking a sigh of relief.
As the chaos subsided, I collapsed to my knees, exhausted but relieved. Looking around at the aftermath of the episode, the clearing now scarred by the havoc I had caused.
"You did it Emma" I heard him say barely a foot away from me.
"Emma?" He called out to me.
I was staring at my hands with my mouth half open. "What kind of monster am I? I asked, raising a tear filled eye to meet his.
