C3 My Conscience
Conscience?
Juno felt a wave of nausea that she couldn't suppress, her nails digging painfully into her palms as her whole body shook with rage.
"What about you? Selling your own sister for 60,000 yuan to seal a business deal, do you have a conscience?" She looked at Calen, his face red with anger, and sneered. "Even if I wanted to sleep with him, I wouldn't lift a finger to help you. How about that?"
"Juno, do you actually think you're worth that much? If it weren't for my reputation, do you really think you could fetch 600,000 yuan for a single night?" Calen was livid, his teeth clenched. He had hoped that Juno's first time would command a high price, but now he was clearly at a loss. "Don't blame me for not warning you. Without the Fowler family, you'd still be sleeping on the streets!"
"600,000? Quite the handsome sum." Juno's sneer was relentless as she mocked him, "Calen, please don't tell me that these so-called big shots you know need to pool their money just to afford a woman."
Her words struck a nerve, as Calen had always been the Fowler family's pride, fighting tooth and nail to forge these high-profile connections.
Now, Juno had laid his shortcomings bare for all to see, and his pride took a severe hit.
"What do you know about business? Can you be choosy with clients when you're just starting out?" Calen spat out the words, his anger palpable. "Don't forget what Mom said. I'm the only male in the Fowler family, and you should always put your big brother first! You should be smiling and welcoming even if I tell you to sell yourself!"
After his tirade, his eyebrows were raised in disdain and mockery as he reached out to grab her.
Everyone in the Fowler family was aware of Juno's status, less than that of a dog. What status could she possibly aspire to? It was a privilege for her to even contribute to the Fowler family, much less pave the way for Calen's future!
But before Calen's hand could reach her, she swiftly raised her own and slapped it away.
"Don't touch me; I find you repulsive," Juno spat out each word through clenched teeth, her gaze icy as she fixed it on Calen. "Please leave. I need to change."
Once upon a time, Juno might have harbored some faint hope for a familial bond with the Fowler family. But that illusion had been shattered in a single night.
"You find me repulsive? And you think you're so pure?" Calen's eyes swept over her with contempt before scanning the room. Spotting the designer label on the suit jacket, his face brightened with recognition. "Where did this expensive suit come from? Did you sleep with some wealthy guy?"
"What business is it of yours?" Juno's stomach turned at the mere sight of him.
She quickly stashed the jacket away. If it hadn't been for Calen's meddling, she would never have been in such a degrading position, nor mistaken for a call girl.
Despite the fact that the man she was with had both looks and wealth, it didn't mean she was willing to have her first time taken from her in such a manner.
Calen's eyes lingered on the suit jacket with reluctance. He had gone to great lengths to track her down using the surveillance footage. He wouldn't be content until he'd gained something from Juno.
"Get dressed quickly; the car is waiting downstairs," he pressed. "And remember, don't mention that you've been with a man. I'm counting on you to help me seal this deal."
Juno stopped in her tracks. "What are you implying?"
"Don't play coy. Director Nichols only got into bed with you because of me, understand?" Calen stepped in front of her, his eyes alight with excitement. "Do you have any idea what six hundred thousand means? You get that for one night with him! The Fowler family's future business deals will be well looked after, and we didn't raise you all these years just to freeload. Juno, if you're going to bite the hand that feeds you, at least consider your own worth."
His words carried a heavy threat, and he waved his phone in front of her, the video playing on the screen.
"See this? This old woman's life depends on our family. Do you really think the Fowler family has supported you all these years out of sheer charity?"
