"What's on earth wrong with my mother?"
Ling Zhang only remembered that his mother had passed away due to a serious illness. His vague memory was accompanied by the strong smell of medicine
"It's the weakness of her internal organs. Her body was constantly on the decline. The medicinal pills were ineffective." Ling Zhaowen replied heavily.
"For what?" Ling Zhang asked closely.
"I only know that sister-in-law's weakness was caused by her mother's womb and relied on medicine to recuperate, her giving birth to you was already a risky act. If she were to put down everything to recuperate after that, she would still be able to live a little longer, but she kept working so hard." Ling Zhaowen replied.
"All of that formation knowledge is extremely taxing, and she seems to be worrying about something."
"Worry about what?" Ling Zhang did not understand. His mother was already married to his father, and although the Ling Family was not a family of the top officials, his family was peaceful and harmonious, without worrying about food or clothing. What did his mother have to worry about?
"I don't know, Sister-in-law never told us about it. It's just that she valued you a lot, and spent a lot of effort to teach you. It's as if she had great expectations for you." Ling Zhaowen said.
Ling Zhang was startled. Did she have a lot of expectations for him?
However, ever since she passed away, he had slowly forgotten all about formations. In his previous life, even until his death, he had never thought of those things.
He had completely failed his mother's expectations.
When Ling Zhang thought about this, his mood quickly dimmed. In his previous life, he really was powerless, and not only did he fail to live up to his mother's expectations, he also failed to save Ling Family.
"Second Uncle, do you know what did my mother want me to do?" Ling Zhang could not help but ask.
Ling Zhaowen shook his head and sighed: "Perhaps big brother knows, but he has gone missing."
That's right, his father had disappeared. Not only had he disappeared, he had also burned down all the formation spell books that his mother had left him.
If it hadn't been burned down, maybe he wouldn't have forgotten it so completely. Maybe he would have been able to do something in his previous life.
But since things had come to this, should he blame that person for the things from his previous life?
Ling Zhang clenched his fists tightly and suppressed the thought that had just popped out of his mind. He was only complaining because he wasn't strong enough, so he shouldn't think about such meaningless things.
Keeping all of this at the bottom of his heart, Ling Zhang asked Ling Zhaowen: "What does Second Uncle want to tell me that I don't know."
Things that he did not know about must have been very important to him, causing his Second Uncle to be this serious.
"Your mother’s origin." Ling Zhaowen said, "I believe you must be very curious as well."
Ling Zhang closed his lips. How could he not be curious? He did not have another family, and when he was young, his grandfather only told him that his maternal grandfather's family was very far away from the Tan Yang, even more distant than the capital. So the two families didn't talk to each other.
But how far was that?
"Cough!" Suddenly, a heavy cough came from outside the study room, interrupting Ling Zhaowen's words he was about to say.
Ling Zhang and Ling Zhaowen were shocked for a moment, both of them quickly stood up and looked outside the study room.
The door to the study opened, and Ling Xingzhong walked in. The moment he entered, he took a stern glare at Ling Zhaowen.
"Father."
"Grandfather."
Ling Zhaowen looked at Ling Xingzhong with a little guilty conscience.
But Ling Zhang frowned slightly. Why did his grandfather coincidentally appear and interrupt him? For what?
Couldn't that where his mother came from been told to him?
"Hmph." Ling Xingzhong was so angry that he snorted at Ling Zhaowen, "You didn't even tell me before, and you dared to mention it to Zhang Er without permission, aren't you looking down on me!"
