C12 Initiation in Martial Arts

The word "Quack" made Zhang Cheng so angry he wanted to kill someone, but he knew it was no longer suitable for him to stay there. He glared at Lee Yifann with venomous eyes filled with rage, flicked his white coat sleeve, and left.

Outside, his assistant protested angrily, "Doctor Zhang, we can't just let this go!"

"How could I let this go? That little bastard made me lose face; I won't rest until he's dead!" Zhang Cheng couldn't swallow his pride. Not only had he lost face, but his business had been ruined. He had hoped to extort a high consultation fee from Wang Cuifen, but now all those plans were dashed.

The assistant gritted his teeth, "What do you plan to do, Doctor Zhang?"

"Hmph, didn't that boy offend some big shot? I heard that the big shot was looking for him everywhere. If I leak the boy's whereabouts..."

A strange look of malice and rage appeared on Zhang Cheng's cold face.

The assistant shivered, holding back his fear, and flattered, "Doctor Zhang, you are brilliant."

"Auntie, don't spill that basin of black water," Lee Yifann cautioned as he put away the silver needle, speaking to Wang Cuifen.

Following his advice, Wang Cuifen carefully poured the water into a lime pit near their home. As soon as the water hit the pit, it made a sizzling sound, emitting a foul smell, and the lime pit began to boil.

She opened her mouth in astonishment, though she didn't understand what had happened. She knew, however, that the foul-smelling toxic fumes had come from her son's body.

No wonder her child had been so sick for so many years, and no hospital could cure him. With all those impurities in his body, he couldn't get well.

As they got home, Wang Cuifen approached Lee Yifann and suddenly knelt before him.

"Auntie, what are you doing?" Lee Yifann exclaimed in shock.

"You saved my child's life, and you are the Savior of my family!" Wang Cuifen said, bowing her head to the ground several times in gratitude.

Lee Yifann pulled her up, "Auntie, please don't do this; get up! I'm a doctor; saving people is what I'm supposed to do."

Wang Cuifen, however, pulled her little boy down to kneel beside her, "Son, remember, this man saved your life. Without him, you might have died! He's your Savior!"

Though the little boy didn't fully understand, he knew Lee Yifann had saved his life. He bowed his head several times, "Big brother, thank you!"

"You don't need to do this, Auntie. I should thank you for trusting me. If you hadn't made the right decision, I wouldn't have been able to treat him!" Lee Yifann said sincerely, helping them both to their feet.

"No matter what, you cured my son's illness."

She had taken her son to the hospital repeatedly during these years of struggle. Each time, she'd entered the hospital full of hope, only to leave in despair. She'd shed countless tears in secret, coming close to giving up so many times, but for her son's life, she'd persevered.

She wasn't holding out much hope from the beginning. If the kid made it, even if he were lying in bed, barely hanging on, that would be something. That's life. You take the punches as they come and hope for the best, even when things look as grim as they did then.

Now, as if heaven was smiling down on her, a tenant she had taken in on a whim had saved her son's life!

Her emotions were more complex than if she'd knocked over a jar of mixed grains; she was simultaneously heartbroken and thrilled, happy and exhilarated.

"Maybe this is fate," Lee Yifann grinned, glancing at the little boy. Talk about a stroke of luck! If he hadn't stumbled upon that Medical Saint's legacy, he might've been living here and still wouldn't have had the knowledge to help the little guy.

Perhaps there was such a thing as destiny.

Lee Yifann continued, "By the way, he's just recovering, so his body might be weak. He needs to eat nutritious food."

The little boy was somewhat frail after his illness but was in high spirits. Once the disease was eradicated and Lee Yifann had treated him with acupuncture, his body's ability to heal itself kicked in, allowing him to recover quickly.

"I understand; I'll follow your instructions!" Wang Cuifen nodded, smiling, "My Savior."

"Please don't call me 'Savior'; just use my name," Lee Yifann said, feeling slightly strange about the title.

"Alright, Yifann," Wang Cuifen hesitated, "Since you live here, you don't have to pay for lodging anymore."

"How can I possibly accept that? How could I live here without paying? Wouldn't that make me a scoundrel?" Lee Yifann shook his head.

"You saved my son, and I have nothing to offer you in return. The least I can do is cover your lodging. Stay as long as you want, as long as you don't mind it here," Wang Cuifen said earnestly. "Please don't refuse; otherwise, I wouldn't know what to do."

Lee Yifann hesitated momentarily, then finally nodded, "Alright, thank you."

With that, his housing problem was thoroughly solved, and he no longer had to worry about having nowhere to live.

"Great, Yifann, consider this place your home from now on. You can come and go as you like!" Wang Cuifen cheerfully said.

Lee Yifann nodded, feeling a unique warmth as he looked at Wang Cuifen. Having been orphaned at a young age, the memory of his parents never existed for him. Perhaps at this very moment, Wang Cuifen's concern for him felt like a mother caring for her son.

"I'll go buy groceries and cook!" Wang Cuifen was elated with her son's recovery, and her years of pent-up frustration vanished. Her mood improved, so she bought food and cooked a lavish meal, inviting Lee Yifann to join them.

The three sat at the dining table, eating like a family. It was the first time in Lee Yifann's memory that he had shared a meal with them. He enjoyed it immensely, feeling happier than he had ever felt before.

After dinner, Lee Yifann ran to the open space behind the house to jog and practice his boxing.

He sparred for several hours, working up a sweat, and then took a satisfying hot shower. After changing into clean clothes, he headed out the door.

He set out to look for work, but as expected, an entire afternoon yielded nothing.

He wasn't discouraged, though. He returned home to meditate and practice, planning to look for work again the next day.

Several days passed without any luck on the job front, but his strength and martial arts skills were improving. He was finally getting a grasp of his training.

He stuck to his routine, exercising every morning and meditating every evening.

He sat on the edge of his bed and focused on his breathing; the energy within his body flowed like a gentle stream through every muscle and vein. Sweat beads formed on his forehead, and his breathing became rapid.

"Hmph," he grunted in slight pain. The blocked channels in his body finally burst open like a flood breaching a dam, and a layer of dirty, black substance surfaced on his skin.

He suddenly opened his eyes and rushed into the bathroom.

"Ahh," he sighed in relief as he took a satisfying hot shower, feeling incredibly refreshed.

"Hard work does pay off! I finally succeeded in cleansing the last impurities from my body and unblocking my channels," he exclaimed excitedly. He had completed the body-refining phase and met the entry requirements of the Medical Saint's Scripture. His physical capabilities had undergone a radical transformation.

He found a strength tester and gave it a casual try. The result was unbelievable.

"Good heavens, my strength is now even greater than a professional boxer's."

With his newfound abilities, he finally had the means to defend himself. If anyone tried to mess with him, he could fight them off with sheer power.

"This is amazing! Now I can go out boldly without any fear; no more living each day on edge!" he exclaimed, relieved and invigorated by his transformation.
