C8 The Healer

Tori POV

“I’m sorry, you wanna drop that again?” Tori stares wide-eyed at her friend waiting for her to answer. Tammy came bounding into the living room with a giddy smile on her face. Jumping on the couch next to Tori, she turns to face Tori with a wide smile and hopeful eyes.

“I’m coming with you!” Tammy had hold of Tori’s hands and gripping them tightly, as if to keep Tori seated and not running out of the house.

“Exactly where are you coming with me?” Tori asked with narrow eyes glancing between her and Eric.

“To help with the healing!”

Okay, she was way too excited about this. I haven’t even told her everything about the request. It’s not that I don’t want her to come, but she needs to understand that this could be dangerous. I have a wolf, sort of, but she is human. I don’t’ want her to get hurt or taken advantage of. She would never live with the guilt. I have no doubt she can handle herself… to a point. It would be nice to have help while there. During the healing sessions and keeping an eye on my back. I’ve heard stories from my mom that wolves are unpredictable and selfish and aggressive. Although, she was biased in a negative way. Maybe, it could work.

“Tammy, sweetie, do you have any idea what you’re getting yourself into? It’s not a normal request. It could be dangerous. We don’t know anything about this pack” I asked softly staring into her eyes.

“No more dangerous than for you. You really think that we’re just going to let you go waltzing in there all alone amongst a bunch of wolves and think you’re all good?! I should think not! You go, I go. No arguments, no questions, no refusal.” Tammy sat there with her arms crossed over her chest and nodded her determination. I looked up at Eric and raised my eyebrows. Tilting my head in curiosity, I questioned him.

“…. And you’re okay with this?” He thought for a moment before sighing. Glancing over to his determined mate, he grinned. “I guess I am. Where you go, she goes!” Tammy dropped her arms and squealed before jumping into Eric’s arms. “Thank you, baby!”

“Tori!” Tammy called behind me. “Why would you want to go alone anyway? You and I are a team, always have been. We can keep an eye on each other, and I can be your assistant.”

I dropped down on the couch and put my head in my hands. Releasing a sigh, I just closed my eyes and shook my head. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up to see Tammy standing over me with a small smile.

“We go together” I nodded and grabbed her hand and squeezed.

“I’ll give Dr. MacDonald a call and let him know that it will be both of us.”

“I should probably give Victor a call and let him know. He won’t like it. But not much he can do about it since you, Tori, don’t belong to the pack” Tori spun around to stare at Eric.

“What?” Eric came and sat on the couch next to her.

“He has no say in what you do, you aren’t a pack member. Unfortunately, Tammy is. She’s my mate, in other words, she’s the Gamma female of the pack. We may need permission for her to go.”

“What do you mean?”

“We have to go speak to the Alpha” Tammy replaced her smile with a frown and looked at Tori.

“Will he let her? I mean, why wouldn’t he?” With a pleading look at Eric, she grabbed Tammy’s hand again.

“I really don’t know. Alphas are really protective over their pack members. Especially if they are going onto another Alpha’s territory. I don’t even think we have an alliance with them either. The alpha of Hidden Valley Pack may not let her on his land either. Because she is a ranked female, he may take that as aggression. If Alpha agrees to let Tammy go, then he’ll have his own conditions we need to follow. He may give a time limit as well. I can’t say for sure.” Tori just released a frustrated sigh and nodded.

“I guess I should call Dr. MacDonald and let him know.”

“Hold off on that until we speak with Alpha”

“Okay” Tori stood up but stopped in her tracks. “Wait a minute” She went wide-eyed and turned to face Eric. “Does that mean I have to join the pack?” Tori noticed that Eric stiffened at her question and felt odd about that. This could be good or bad. Eric shifted uncomfortably avoiding eye contact with her. “I…”

“Baby, is something wrong with that?”

“No! Nothing wrong with that. I think it would be good for her to join!”

“Then, what is it? How hard could it be?” Tori asked shrugging.

“I think I need to speak with Victor about this first. Before I say anything. Don’t call the doctor yet, we will still have to speak with the alpha and see what he wants to do.” Eric pulled out his phone and scrolled through to find Victor’s number. This is a good thing, and he could hardly contain his excitement. This is what the Alpha has been working for, for so many years and he didn’t want to scare her away. He really needed to talk to Victor. Before he could make the call, Tori spoke up and asked us about lunch.

“Well, since my dad had to cancel lunch, You guys hungry?”

“Sure!”

“We can still go to the diner if you like. My treat” Eric declared and stood offering his hands to ladies. They each grabbed one and he led them out the door. “I’ll call Victor after lunch.”

Closing and locking the door behind them, Eric escorted the ladies down to his truck and took off for the diner.
