C18 Invite Her to Dinner
After parting ways with her former agency, Gu Yuan's social media account was taken over by them. However, she quickly set up a new account for herself, boldly naming it "Half-Sage Gu." She listed her profession as a fortune teller. Unfortunately, her application was rejected, citing an attempt to spread superstitions. Gu Yuan raised an eyebrow, feeling quite frustrated.
Just then, her phone rang with an unfamiliar number. When she answered, she was surprised to find it was Yuu Jin on the other end. She hadn't expected him to call her.
"Miss Gu, I hope I'm not disturbing you?" A deep, clear voice came through the phone, sending a shiver down Gu Yuan's spine. She cleared her throat and replied calmly, "Not at all, Mr. Yuu. What can I do for you?"
"Well, I do have a small request. Thanks to your help the other day, though my grandfather's attitude might not have been the best. I'd like to invite you to dinner as an apology. Would you be willing to give me that honor?" Yuu Jin spoke softly, his tone sincere. It was hard to imagine that someone who grew up in such a privileged environment could be so gentlemanly and kind.
Gu Yuan couldn't resist teasing him, "Mr. Yuu, are you really just here to apologize, or do you have other motives? Like me, perhaps?"
Yuu Jin was momentarily at a loss for words, unsure how to respond, "... "
But soon after, he heard laughter from the other end, "Just kidding. Since you're so sincere, Mr. Yuu, I can't refuse. But I'll choose the place for dinner."
"Of course, Miss Gu. Do you have any suggestions?"
Gu Yuan pondered, "I haven't decided yet. I'll send you the location later."
"Sounds good." Yuu Jin smiled politely, as if Gu Yuan were right in front of him.
After hanging up, Gu Yuan went to her bedroom to change into a comfortable sweatshirt, casually tied her hair into a bun, and put on a mask before heading out without any makeup.
Gu Yuan didn't own a car, so she usually relied on Qiao Xi to drive her around. But now, she was used to taking a cab.
"Where to, miss?" the friendly driver asked, his warm smile infectious.
Gu Yuan, caught up in his cheerful demeanor, replied more lightheartedly, "Do you have any restaurant recommendations?"
Her cooperation delighted the driver, filling the car with a genuine and friendly atmosphere.
"Ah, you've come to the right person," the driver chuckled. "There's a famous food street in the center of A City. After a good meal, you can stroll around the mall..."
"Driver, I'll head to the food street then," Gu Yuan said, rubbing her slightly empty stomach. She hadn't eaten much today.
As soon as she finished speaking, Gu Yuan sent the location of the food street to Yuu Jin.
"Alright," the driver replied cheerfully.
Gu Yuan didn't sit idly in the taxi. She found a reputable charity on her phone and donated nine million dollars from her account.
Of course, Gu Yuan donated anonymously, but it wasn't because she wanted to be a nameless do-gooder. She just felt it wasn't necessary. Whether anonymous or not, the good deed was still credited to her.
