C5 The Blackmailer Went
The man turned away in frustration, finding her incredibly annoying, and decided to ignore her.
However, Gu Yuan wasn't ready to give up. "Otherwise, it goes against my professional ethics."
"You're really irritating," he said, frowning and glancing at her with impatience.
Gu Yuan pressed her lips together, imagining she'd slapped this man a hundred and eighty times in her mind. Guys like him needed a reality check.
The man walked away from Gu Yuan to a hospital room. He knocked on the door with his knuckles before turning the handle and pushing it open.
Gu Yuan heard a soft female voice, seemingly speaking to the man. Peeking through the door crack, she noticed the beautiful woman lying in the hospital bed had a dark aura surrounding her. Sticking to her principle of doing the job she was paid for, Gu Yuan tugged on the man's sleeve and whispered:
"This lady has a red glow on her forehead, indicating bad luck lately. She should avoid places with water."
With that, Gu Yuan pulled a business card from her pocket and discreetly slipped it into the man's coat pocket while he wasn't looking, then turned to leave.
As she walked away, she gave the man a confident wink. It wouldn't be long before he brought the pearl to her willingly.
Gu Yuan walked out of the hospital in high spirits. She wasn't sure what kind of day it was, but she had run into two remarkable people. Comparing the two, Yuu Jin was definitely more pleasant. At least, in Gu Yuan's eyes, he was more pleasing to look at.
Gu Yuan immediately spotted Qiao Xi's car. She opened the door and plopped down into the seat.
"Gu Yuan, where on earth have you been for the last ten minutes? I've gotten two parking tickets, costing me hundreds of dollars..." Qiao Xi was fuming and started to rant at Gu Yuan, but before he could finish, she tossed a wad of cash at him.
Qiao Xi glanced down at the pile of bills, his heart skipping a beat as a troubling thought crossed his mind. "You didn't just rob a bank, did you? Where did you get all this money?"
They hadn't had any gigs for about two or three months, and Gu Yuan's savings had been drained by her conniving aunt. Her face was probably her most valuable asset at this point. Seeing so much money all of a sudden, Qiao Xi instinctively worried that Gu Yuan had taken a dark turn.
Gu Yuan gave him a wry smile. "I pulled a scam."
Qiao Xi exclaimed, "What the heck!"
"Just messing with you," Gu Yuan chuckled, giving him a playful shove. "Hurry up and drive before the cops come back with more tickets."
Qiao Xi sighed, feeling more and more unable to understand Gu Yuan.
"Are we heading to your place or mine?" Qiao Xi asked while driving, glancing at her briefly.
He was mainly worried that her aunt might cause trouble at her apartment again. It wasn't the first or second time, and each incident was chaotic, with her aunt refusing to leave without getting money.
Gu Yuan was scrolling through Twitter, not looking up as she replied, "Let's go to my place."
Qiao Xi acknowledged her response, turned the steering wheel, and drove in the opposite direction of his home.
As soon as they reached the entrance of her apartment complex, Qiao Xi couldn't help but rub his forehead, thinking, "Just my luck."
Gu Yuan had already put away her phone and naturally noticed the well-dressed woman standing at the entrance, watching them.
"Gu Yuan..."
"Some things need to be settled once and for all," Gu Yuan said, knowing what Qiao Xi was about to mention. It was time to finally address the issues with that woman.
