C9 The Savior
The neighbor living next to apartment 1870, Yu Zi, suffers from severe insomnia and needs absolute silence to sleep. Last night, he stayed up all night writing a new song. Just as he was finally drifting off, he was jolted awake by rustling noises from next door, leaving him with a pounding headache. He couldn't take it anymore.
With a stern expression, he decided to confront the neighbor. But as soon as he stepped out, he saw a woman surrounded by two men in suits. The woman looked uneasy, clearly not wanting the men to touch her. Yu Zi's mind immediately jumped to a scene of bad guys bullying a helpless woman.
However, in the next moment, he saw one of the men pull out a wad of cash from his pocket. The woman, who had been frowning, suddenly broke into a smile, pocketed the money, and happily followed them.
Yu Zi, who had been ready to intervene, felt his mouth twitch. Are women nowadays so blatantly driven by money?
“Miss Gu, please get in the car,” one of the suited bodyguards said professionally, opening the car door for Gu Yuan and carefully shielding her head as she got in.
Gu Yuan nodded slightly and bent down to take a seat.
She had anticipated that Yuu Jin would come looking for her, though she hadn't expected it to be so soon.
Once they arrived at the hospital, the bodyguard led Gu Yuan straight to Yuu Jin's hospital room.
As she reached the hospital room door, Gu Yuan noticed an elderly man in a traditional suit. Some people command respect without uttering a word, and he was one of them, exuding an aura of authority.
Gu Yuan maintained a calm demeanor, offering a polite smile to the man. Her voice was steady and confident, without a hint of fear. "Good day, Mr. Yuu."
Yuu Bingzhong lifted his gaze slightly, observing the striking young woman before him. It was hard to believe that his grandson's savior was such a young girl. Yet, her poised attitude impressed him; few people spoke to him with such composure, knowing who he was.
"So, you're Gu Yuan?" Yuu Bingzhong asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he studied her, as if trying to discern something deeper.
Gu Yuan nodded. "Haven't you already looked into my background, Mr. Yuu?"
Yuu Bingzhong pressed his lips together. Indeed, he had investigated Gu Yuan, but there were still many mysteries surrounding her. For instance, how did a minor celebrity come to possess such powerful talismans? Even the expert he consulted was astonished and eager to meet the creator of these talismans.
After a moment of consideration, Yuu Bingzhong asked, "Do you think you can cure my grandson, Miss Gu?"
Gu Yuan was momentarily surprised but quickly understood his implication. It seemed the old master was aware that Yuu Jin's condition required more than conventional medicine.
Gu Yuan gave a knowing smile, sidestepping a direct answer. "The one who ties the knot must untie it."
Yuu Bingzhong's face darkened at her evasive remark, feeling she was being deliberately mysterious. Just as he was about to retort, he heard Yuu Jin's voice from the hospital room.
"Grandpa, could I see Miss Gu first?"
Old Master Yuu shot Gu Yuan a glance, grumbling, "Go on in."
Gu Yuan wasn't offended. She knew how quickly moods could change, especially with stubborn old folks, and she didn't mind at all. After all, she was naturally patient and accommodating.
Yuu Jin looked much healthier now, his complexion rosy. The dark aura that once surrounded him seemed to keep its distance, thanks to the talisman he carried.
"Miss Gu, I apologize for any offense before. I hope you can forgive me," Yuu Jin said with a slight smile, a hint of light flickering in his deep, dark eyes.
"No offense taken," Gu Yuan replied. "But have you given any thought to what I said earlier?"
