C1 The Awakening

“Take cover, Take cover. It is here, it is here. We are under attack, Run to your homes.” The watchmen shouted.

The people took to their heels, Shouting and commotion everywhere. There were sounds of gunshots and cries in the air. The attack by a rogue werewolf has become unbearing. The people feared for their lives.

The hunters arrived firing countless shots in the direction of the werewolf. It was like the bullets weren't penetrating the animal. It continued destroying and killing any living thing in its way.

I stood a mile away from the action. Gaping at this notorious creature, I hated werewolves because I believed they were all cold-blooded creatures who didn't care about the survival of other creatures.

The Werewolf immediately looked toward me as if it had just read my thoughts. Before I could realize what was happening, it charged toward me with full strength not even paying attention to other people in its way.

I didn't think twice before I started running as fast as I could away from this vicious beast. While I was running I found myself in the woods. I had never been to the forest before. It was strange that I didn't understand how I got to that forest or why the werewolf was only after my life, all I could think of was to run.

I tried to jump a fallen bridge beside me but surprisingly I found myself in a circle of werewolves with a symbol all surrounding me. I looked beside me and I saw an image of a handsome man who had an unusual appearance. I have been seeing this person since my father went missing but it was hard to see through the blurry sight.

I tried so hard to get a better look at this masculine image this time but it was unsuccessful. On the verge of trying, A black cloud covered my vision which made it hard for me to see anything.

JUST THEN….

“Emily, Emily, Emily wake up! Can't you see the sun is already risen? You'll be late for the Silverwood Annual Harvest Festival if you continue to lay in bed all day long.”

I sat up on the bed looking lost and terrified. My face was already dripping with sweat as fear gripped me. My hands were squeezed so tight on the bed sheet.

My mother stood beside me, I could feel her gaze resting on me. This wasn't the first time I had woken up being terrified since my eighteenth birthday. With the look in my Mother's eyes, I could sense she wasn't happy with the persistent bad dreams.

I sat on the bed with my knee on my chest without saying a word to my Mother. I didn't have a clue what to say. My Mother moved toward me and looked straight into my green eyes.

“Hello, Earth to Emily. Are you sure you're alright Emily, you don't look so good.” she said calmly.

“I am fine Mother, it was just a dream, I am fine,” I said in a shaky voice.

Mother sighed heavily. “My Angel, you know you can tell me anything. I am always here for you. I know the constant attack has been messing with your mind and making you have all this horrible nightmare. But we will get through this together. You have to be strong for me, Emily.” she said.

I looked up at my Mother and gave her a big smile assuring her I was okay.

She walked to the door, took a quick glance at me, and left the room.

I looked at my squeezed hands and found traces of a deep cut in her palm. To my surprise, the cut was healing slowly. This was the first time such a thing had happened to me.

“What is wrong with me?” I screamed.

******************

After I left Emily's room I couldn't stop thinking about what was wrong with her. This can't be her werewolf form because it was stripped from her since birth. We made sure of that.

She just clocked eighteen a few months ago. What if we were wrong about that whole sacrifice? Perhaps, I need to tell her everything now before it becomes too late. I need to tell her what she is, I need to.

I went to the bathroom to wash myself and start my usual day as a regular girl. Today is going to be full of many activities, I said. I gathered my thoughts and slowly calmed my racing heart.

I walked to the little wardrobe to pick a nice gown to match today's occasion and braced myself for the day ahead, determined to shake off the lingering unease from my unsettling dream.

After getting ready, I made my way to the Annual Harvest Festival, the lively atmosphere provided a welcome distraction from my troubled thoughts. As I strolled through the bustling crowd, enjoying the vibrant displays of colorful blooms and homemade goods, a sense of normalcy began to settle over me.

Suddenly, My attention was drawn to a distinctive figure standing in the distance. It was a man, with an air of mystery and elegance that seemed to set him apart from the rest of the festival-goers. His enigmatic presence captivated me, and I found myself irresistibly drawn to him.

Approaching the man, I noticed his intense, piercing gaze that seemed to look right through me. I had this feeling that I had met this man before somewhere. His aura was cold, His long blonde hair and hazel eyes were so bright and stunning, that they looked straight into mine. It was as if he was something different. I felt a sort of connection to him.

As I opened my mouth to speak, the man placed a finger to his lips, gesturing for me to keep silent. Before I could comprehend the situation, the man handed me a small, intricately carved wooden necklace.

"This will protect you," he murmured softly, his voice carrying a strange, otherworldly weight. Then, as quickly as he had appeared, he vanished into the crowd, leaving me standing there, bewildered and clutching the mysterious necklace in my hand.

The pendant felt warm to the touch, and as I looked at it closely, I noticed that it bore a striking resemblance to the symbol I had seen in my recurring dreams. Confusion and curiosity swirled within me as I tried to make sense of the strange encounter.

I tried to look for him in the crowd, hoping he could give me an explanation of how he knew the symbol. But before I could take another step a strong hand pulled me out of the crowd into a secluded alleyway….
