I held the door so tightly as soon as his gentle footsteps walked up to me with his eyes wide open.

His faded expression observed me and then he asked. “You are a mess again, baby.”

I pouted and looked shyly away from him.

“Tell me, Aurora. What happened? Did you and Mrs. Jane play hide and seek or something?”

I guess he knows my appearance wasn't some hide and seek
