C2

Quietly sitting on the back seat like an obedient child, she looked out of the window. Zeke sat beside her as he quietly observed her nervous and scared state.

Obviously, he was aware that she was scared of him, but that didn’t trouble his heart. He was okay with his wife fearing him. Soon enough they reached the house as Danica got out of the car and walked behind Zeke as she silently followed him inside. She was scared of him. Very much scared.

She has seen his angry, worst side so she never tried to speak back with him, although she never really did that with anyone. He was extremely closed off and distant. Not only from her but from everyone.

Yes, he had couple of men that were extremely loyal to him but he was always alerted even with those who had spent years with him. They both shared a room and as she steps in giving her the rights of being his wife. He surely did treat her slightly special and different than he treated the others but only after he actually got to know her.

The few starting months of the marriage were extremely horrible for Danica as Zeke was really cruel with her. His horrible actions ended up resulting in her heart having permanent scars.

“Go change.” He spoke coldly as Danica nodded and walked to the bathroom. Little did she know what was coming for her as she took tiny steps walking out of the room after changing her clothes.

Just as Zeke was about to sleep on his side he noticed her scars. Purple bruises all over her arm as she unknowingly wore a half-sleeved shirt. Zeke clenched his jaws as he pulled her toward him, getting up from the bed. Danica was quite startled as she landed her hands on his chest but quickly pulled them back.

“What is this?” He asked her calmly, gaze pointing toward her bruise covered arms.

The room was silent as Danica stood scared and silent. But that was not what Zeke wanted as he glared at her, “I’m asking you something, Danica.” He spoke through his gritted teeth.

“Uhm mm…Z-zeke- “she stuttered resulting in Zeke close his eyes in frustration as he opened them once again before speaking.

“Who did this to you, Danica? I need you to speak clearly. I’m not going to kill you,” he spoke as Danica looked down scared.

How could she tell him?

“My brother and mother… The-y di-dnt mean-n to.. It was acci-accidental,” Danica explained. She spoke closing her eyes as she was extremely scared of him right now.

“I left you at your home for one night and they did this to you?” He questioned her, not believing what her family did. It was hard for him to believe that. Not impossible though. He knew what kind of person her mother and brother is.

“It was unintentional.” She spoke as Zeke glared at her.

“Why the fuck did you not call me?” He angrily questioned her again as she looked up at his face for a minute as she almost misunderstood his tone to be a worrying one.

But to her no surprise, his face was full of anger. Why would he be worried for her? He never really wanted to marry her. It was all because of her family.

“I didn’t. want to bother you,” she tried to speak as his next sentence broke her heart.

“Bullshit! Stop being so naïve. Your innocence will not get you anywhere. You know it is intentional, I’m not stupid. You still wanting to meet them after what they do to you.” He spoke loudly as Danica looked down quietly hearing all his scolding’s as she stood there silently, biting her lip to prevent herself from crying.

“I’m sorry.” She whispered as he glared at her.

“Stop being fucking apologetic to me. Be apologetic to yourself. It is affecting you and not me!” he spat harshly at her as she silently listened to him.

Was she affected? Yes. But could she do anything? No. She was made like this. Ever since she was a kid. Zeke walked out of the room angrily as she sighed before walking toward the bed.

The whole room stood silent as there was only the sounds of night bird and their normal breathing. She was mad at her for being so pathetic. She wished she could try to be a little stronger.

But too broken she was. Too broken to be fixed She couldn’t give herself the attention and love that could heal her. She was hopeless.

How could she even think about living happily when the pieces inside her were slowly dying. She slowly fell asleep in agony as the images started flashing in front of her.

Was it new for her? Absolutely not. She has been having such dreams in a long time. Blood. Death. Cruelness. Hatred.

It was really special and rare for her if she ever dreamed about something other than these. The door opened revealing an angry Zeke as he stared at the laying figure on the bed. His eyes somewhat showed worry and regret. Worry that she was hurt and regret that he couldn’t do anything to protect her. If only she would let him. Why was she like this? What had made her so hopeless?

His eyes were cold as he moved them away from her and to their closet as he walked toward it and took out some clothes to change into. As the voices present in the room broke the sleep of the pale body.

She didn’t mind. She was used to waking up in nights because of her dreams. But she kept laying there with a still position. Zeke closed the door of the bathroom as he soundlessly walked toward the bed and laid down.

He could feel she was awake. But he didn’t care. The only reason he had to keep her was that she was his wife. He never expected to get married to a stranger but this is what their fate was.

She sighed softly again as she laid there with her eyes closed feeling the distance that she felt with everyone. She felt really alone. As if she was the only one present in the whole world.

She wished she deserved better.
