ALEXA'S POV.

It's night, and time to sleep, but my head couldn't stop circling around my husband confessing his love for me.

I do love him, but I still feel doubt because he's secretive, and he doesn't trust me enough to rely on me.

Although, it's not easy to open up to someone, maybe that's why it's taking time for him.

The door opened, and he entered in. He can't even make his calls around me. He had to leave to make a call. It bothers me.

He climbed the bed, laid down, and threw his right hand over me, his arm on my stomach.

I felt like wanting to know who he was talking to, but I decided I shouldn't spoil the mood. I tend to do that.

"Babe." He called, his eyes closed.

"Hmm." I responded.

"Stop thinking, and sleep. Your thoughts could disturb the babies from sleeping too."

I chuckled at his statement. I wonder what is in his head, especially about pregnancy. He always has crazy things to say. He can be crazy.

"It's late. Quit it." He said again.

I just smiled, and then I turned, causing him to lay straight. I rested my head on his chest, and wanted his hug, which I'm sure he noticed, cause he held me tight. It felt good. My ears listening to the soft steady beat of his chest.

"I wanna ask." I said, drawing invisible circles on his chest.

"Hmm." I felt his chest vibrate. "You like asking questions. Am I safe this night?"

I kept shtum. I don't really want him getting angry.

"Ask." He gave me the go-ahead.

I smiled. "What you said to me in the hospital, did you really mean it?"

He took a huge breath. "Hmm. Can't remember."

I looked up at him. "I know you do."

He looked at me. "I don't."

He raised his right hand, and took it over his head staring at the ceiling.

I sighed sadly. "Well, since you're denying it then you don't mean it."

"What really are you talking about?" He asked feigning pretense.

I frowned at him wondering why he was acting that way, or....

I sighed. Of course. He wants me to say exactly what he said.

I laid my head back on his chest wanting the courage to say it out. I don't get why I should be acting shy with him.

"You said you love me." I dropped.

"I did? Oh, I remember."

I hit him on his chest, and he yelped. "Ow. You wanna kill me?" I know it didn't hurt. He was obviously faking it. What an over exaggeration!

"Did you mean it?" I asked.

"To be precise, I said I think."

I blinked. "Oh."

"But I'm not sure anymore."

I raised my head, and looked up at him. "Have I done something wrong?"

He rested his head on his hand that's above his head, and looked down at me with a smile. "I meant, I don't think it's a thought. I feel I actually love you."

A smile appeared on my face.

"What about you? Do you?"

I raised a brow, and shook my head, laying my head back down on his chest. "No, I don't."

"What? But why?"

I scoffed. "You're secretive. After I've known you in, and out, then I can say it out."

He sighed. "I guess I can't fight you on that one, but I know you do."

I just kept quiet.

August 26th Thursday.

I stared at my two best friends as I've been doing for a while since they called me out to the restaurant we are currently sitting in, which is seeming weird, because lately they've been AWOL, and we've not met like this.

We've always had time for ourselves, but I don't know why I feel things are changing.

"How are you?" Emily suddenly asked breaking the silence.

I shrugged. "I'm fine."

"Is your husband treating you well?" Phoebe asked.

"Of course." I huffed. "Why not?"

They both nodded.

I didn't want another silence so, "What have you guys been up to?"

Their eyes both widened. "What?" They blurted out.

I furrowed my brows at them at why my question shocked or surprised them, or whatever. "Well, I feel you guys haven't been around. We haven't seen since I left the hospital."

They both nodded glancing at each other with Phoebe raising a brow at Emily as they did so.

My brows were still furrowed. I'll be stupid to not notice that they're acting weird.

"Uh,." Emily began. "We just felt you would want to spend time with your husband."

I scoffed at the statement. "My husband is not the only one I've got, you know? I don't want you guys to feel like because I'm married I won't have time for you." I told them beginning to feel that's the reason they are keeping a distance from me.

Phoebe shook her head. "We don't feel that way."

Before I could reply her...

"So, have you gone for your first ultrasound?" Emily changed the topic. A topic which I'm interested to talk about.

I nodded with a smile. "Yeah I did."

They both gasped. "A boy or a girl?" Phoebe asked.

"Better." I said with the smile still on my face.

Confusion clouded their features. I'm sure they wanna know what I meant.

"Three." I dropped.

"Three babies?" Emily asked in disbelief.

I nodded. "Two boys, and a girl."

"Ahh!" Phoebe squealed putting her hands in her mouth making me laugh.

"Wow. That's awesome." Emily smiled at me.

"I know."

"Congrats." Phoebe congratulated.

I nodded.

"I bet Leo took it well." Emily stated.

I smiled. "Yeah. Really well."

I said looking at someone outside.

"Is there a problem?" Emily asked.

I looked at her. "No."

"You can talk to us." Phoebe urged.

I sighed. Of course I should be able to talk to them. They're the only ones I can talk to.

"Well, I'm worried about too many things all of a sudden." I told them.

"What things?" Phoebe inquired.

"Leo. My godfather." I shared.

"Is it their fighting?" Emily asked.

I nodded. "That, and things are weird. My godfather removed a large amount of money from my company's account which I trusted with him, and I don't know why?"

Their faces was like they were caught in a web of shock.

"Your godfather did that?" Emily asked in disbelief.

I nodded. "He did. I wanted to confront him, but Leo said he would lie if I do, so I didn't. He said he'll help me find out though."

Phoebe scoffed. "You sure he's not involved?"

I shook my head. "He's not. He was equally shocked when I told him. He doesn't even want anything to do with my company."

"What's up with those two? They have serious dispute with other." Emily said frowning.

I sighed. "Yeah. Apparently, my husband never knew his father."

"What?" They both blurted.

I nodded. "Leo told me the day he met him was the day he told him about the contract. He's slowly opening up to me. Little by little."

"You mean they never knew each other?" Phoebe asked.

I shook my head. "Godfather knew him. His mom told him his father always knew he existed."

"But he never showed his face to him?" Emily asked still in disbelief.

I nodded. "Yeah. He was busy being a father to me."

"Now that explains the dispute." Phoebe commented.

I nodded again. "Something bothers me though."

Emily equally nodded. "Obviously. Why did he accept to marry you, right?"

I just lowered my head sadly at the thought.

"Okay, something really big is going on around you, and it's something to find out." Phoebe declared.

I looked at her. "How? It's not as if I can enter his head, and poke around it. I believe he'll tell me. I feel there's more reason why he feels so much hatred for his father. Things don't seem right."

They nodded.

I looked outside again at that someone.

"Who are you looking at?" Phoebe noticed.

I looked at her, then sighed. "People Leo assigned to guard me. A female to drive me, and two other convoy following behind like I'm some kind of royal princess."

"He put guards on you now?" Emily asked in a more surprised way, not loathing. I was expecting there to be a clench in her teeth, or a frown in her face, but she was actually surprised, and somewhat pleased.

I nodded. "I was surprised when I saw them this morning, and he wasn't ready for any 'no'. He said they're dangers outside, and he wants me protected."

"He sure cares a lot to do that. It's very good. I like that." Phoebe stated.

I furrowed my brows at the statement. Is...is she also cool with...

"Yeah. I do too, but why does he think that? Is someone after you?" Emily asked worriedly.

I chuckled in disbelief. "Are you serious? Look at your thought. Why would someone be after me?"

Her face fell. "Don't know. Just a thought."

I nodded still feeling kinda weird about them. "I think it's probably because of my pregnancy, but I don't know. I don't know why he do things."

Phoebe shook her head. "You guys are definitely not an ideal couple."

I rolled my eyes at her. "Whatever. I believe sooner he'll tell me things. All of them. He already confessed his love for me." I said with a smile.

Emily gasped. "Wow. He did?"

I nodded. "Yep. He said it would have been hard to believe, but our marriage was his blessing in disguise. He was thankful he accepted."

"Are you sure it's not because of the babies?" Phoebe condemned making me look at her in annoyance.

"Please don't ruin my mood." I begged.

She just shrugged.

"At least, things are going well with the two of you. As far as he loves you, and wants to protect you, I'm okay. I can begin to like him for that." Emily remarked.

I smiled. "Thanks."

LEONARD'S POV.

Standing in front of my father which is like the last thing I would've wished to do on earth irks me badly. Just seeing his face alone boils my blood.

He always has a knack for making me wait while he pretends to do something.

Just as my wife wishes to know what is in my head, I equally want to know what is in my father's. Although, I know the obvious, but the way he's willing to take it is unclear to me.

There's something else that I'm missing. I'm his son, but I feel like I'm only being used. He doesn't care about me, but he's an old man.

What exactly this old man wants is what I need to find out, 'cause I know what he's doing is not for me.

He probably wants to just die with it all. He's that selfish.

"I don't recall calling you here." He began alas.

I looked away from him. "I'm just here to ask you some questions."

"I don't think you have any right to ask me anything. You owe me, son."

I looked at him in disbelief. "Owe you? I owe you nothing. As a matter of fact, you're the one who owes me."

He chuckled. "Hmm. Alright then. How's my goddaughter?"

I scoffed. "Like you care."

He shrugged. "I just wanna know."

I nodded. "Well, she's wondering why you withdrew a huge amount of money from her company's account."

"And let me guess, that was why you came."

I chuckled. "Why else?"

"Well, it's none of your business. This company is none of your business."

I scoffed. "Oh wait. I think just as your whole body is withering, your head is too. I came here because of my wife."

"You should watch your.....".

"And besides, dad. That company is not yours, and since I'm married to its owner, and also for the fact that she already gave me parts of it which was what you wanted, then it is my business." I interrupted him.

My dad frowned, and huffed. "You're not taking the parts she gave you. You're handing it all to me, Leonard."

I shrugged. "Wasn't that the plan? Although, I'm not so sure anymore."

"I'm pretty sure our agreement was for you not to mount the company after she gave it to you. It's mine, and you're meant to give it all to me."

I nodded. "Yeah, dad. You're right, but I think it's time for us to change that agreement."

"We've already changed enough. You've destroyed a lot of my plans for your selfish purposes."

I chuckled. "Between the both of us, dad. It's you who's selfish. I just do what I should to protect my family."

"The one I gave to you."

I smiled, and nodded. "Yeah. I haven't actually thanked you for that. I really do appreciate it, cause I love the family I have right now. You did train Alexa well, or probably, she just has a sweet character, and doesn't really need to be trained, cause I sure as hell know that if it were up to you, she would have been opposite of what she is now."

He sighed. "Go back home, and tell your wife not to worry about the money I took. It's for the company's good."

I shook my head. "She could believe that, but I sure as hell don't."

I knew he wouldn't come clean about it, but I also knew I had to confront him. Better me, than Alexa.

I turned my back on him, and walked out of his office, slamming his door shut.

I need to be one step ahead. God knows what that man is planning.
