C4 I Am Her Parent

Summoning her courage, Huo Mengmeng spoke up with trepidation, "The Dean of Students has requested your presence at the school. If you don't show up... you'll have to face the consequences."

The only response was the deafening silence from the other end of the line.

Swallowing nervously, Huo Mengmeng waited for a response that never came. Gathering her courage once more, she ventured cautiously, "Um, are you available?"

Time seemed to stand still before the man on the other end finally broke the silence, "Yes."

After ending the call, Leng Huaiqing turned to his assistant and commanded, "Go to the school, immediately."

Chu Jie, watching the host deliver the opening remarks on stage, expressed his concern, "But Master Leng, the press conference has already begun."

"Do I really need to explain such trivialities?" Leng Huaiqing replied with a dismissive glance, then strode away from the event without a backward glance.

What choice did Chu Jie have?

He had no option but to delay the press conference.

In the vice principal's office, the Dean of Students was berating Huo Mengmeng without pause, not allowing her a moment to defend herself.

To conclude, she stressed, "Vice principal, this issue must be dealt with severely. We need to provide School Board Member Hsiao with a satisfactory resolution and, at the same time, send a clear message to the other students to prevent any recurrence of such incidents."

Just then, the door to the vice principal's office burst open unexpectedly.

A tall, imposing figure stood silhouetted in the doorway, bathed in backlight that seemed to cloak him in a golden aura, exuding nobility and an air of mystery.

The vice principal was momentarily taken aback but, recognizing the visitor, he leapt from his chair, speaking in a flustered stammer, "Master Leng, what brings you here so unexpectedly?"

"Am I not allowed to come?" Leng Huaiqing replied with a stern tone.

The vice principal broke into a cold sweat, his eyes darting about as he rushed to explain, "No, Master Leng, you've misunderstood. I meant that I failed to greet you personally at the school entrance, and for that, I am remiss..."

"I didn't come here to listen to your excuses!" Leng Huaiqing cut him off without mercy, "I want to know exactly what transpired today."

Leng Huaiqing's piercing gaze swept over Huo Mengmeng, his eyes chilling slightly. On his way over, he had overheard some female students gossiping about her getting into a fight over Soong Zicheng. They even suggested that the two of them were secretly in a romantic relationship. Quite the rumor!

Their eyes met unintentionally, sending a shiver down Huo Mengmeng's spine as she guiltily lowered her head. She couldn't fathom what was going through Leng Huaiqing's mind. She simply assumed that the embarrassment of having to call her parents to school was the reason for his anger.

The Dean of Students, unfamiliar with Leng Huaiqing, could only guess that someone capable of intimidating the vice principal like this must be the elusive School Board President.

Master Leng? Since he didn't share the Huo surname, he couldn't be Huo Mengmeng's parent. With this in mind, the Dean of Students quickly followed up, "Master Leng, good day. The issue at hand began with Ms. Huo Mengmeng engaging in a verbal altercation with a fellow student. In full view of everyone, she caused the other student's face to swell. She has yet to acknowledge her wrongdoing or offer an apology, which is highly reprehensible. I've brought her to the Vice Principal's office to await her parent's intervention."

Checking her watch, she added with a hint of annoyance, "The appointed time is nearly up, and her parent has yet to arrive."

"Parent?" Leng Huaiqing let out a derisive snort, a cold smirk playing on his lips. "I am her parent!"

His declaration left the Vice Principal and the Dean of Students petrified, their faces draining of color as beads of cold sweat formed on their foreheads.
